We just spent 6 nights at this lovely family hotel. Our room was simple but well organized and the bed was really comfortable. We had a good sized balcony looking over the mountains ( Room 5). It is run by a wonderful, warm hearted family - daughter Katrin Maria and son Stephan (also the cook) speak excellent English. They couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The quality of the food and the preparation is outstanding! The previous reviewer is absolutely correct. Stephan cares passionately about food and cooking and chooses the best local ingredients. Breakfast is a full buffet spread and includes several kinds of fresh locals breads and rolls and croissants as well as six home made jams, six different juices (homemade elderberry), lovely huge orange yolked eggs, freshly made espresso drinks..... Dinner is a special occasion - very fine dining in a cosy, friendly, gracious setting. We were there during mushroom season and enjoyed mushrooms every evening that had been gathered by Stephen who is an avid mushroomer. There is a big salad buffet with a number of cooked and raw vegetables, a cheese buffet with local cheese. We also had a wonderful large breaded mushroom with preislberries every evening as a starter. Then there is the first course - pasta, soup, light as air dumplings, then a meat course, then dessert - everything prepared to the highest standard. This was such a treat for us and we felt pampered in every way. This was our 13th visit to the South Tyrol and the best food yet! We also liked the location of the hotel - about 5 minutes walk above the train station and well situated for many beautiful walks.
