“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2010

FANTASTIC!!! this was the first time my husband and I visited this hotel and it was really nice, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and spacious. We had one of the superior rooms which was way above expectations. A/C, cable TV, hammock in our little porch close to the pool. The only thing that we missed from our room was a microwave, but we overcame that with all the different restaurants there are on the island. The food at the Bamboo Walk restaurant was GREAT and very reasonable compared to other places. The people at the hotel very friendly & willing to help. We had a ball at Karaoke night!! The bed in the room was not a 4x6 bed as stated before our stay, it's actually a Queen sized bed and very very comfy....sleep 'til 10am comfy! I've already started to recommend this place to my friends...hope they keep up the great service and the look and ambiance of the hotel. Small but sweet! We're already planning on visiting them again!!

Bamboo Walk Hotel was a big disappointment.
"MyTobago" websites write that the hotel was new in 2008, that is completely wrong! The new owners took over the hotel in 2006 and "renovated" it, which we saw no results of!
No smile and no "welcome" when we arrived, and a dirty hotelroom and bath met us. The woman, who guided us to the room saw how dirty the mirror and the sink on the bathroom was, and cleaned up immediately. The shelves under the TV and for the bedside tables we cleaned up ourselves,- very dusty!
The karaokee outside the hotel Friday night, did not end at 11 o `clock, which it was announced, it did not end before 2 o`clock am, - and the noise was very loud, which gave us no opportunity to sleep. The hotel director compenced that to give us a free dinner at the hotel,- not bad.
The poster on the wall in the room, showed that it was house-keeping until 15 o`clock pm each day. But twice we could not leave the room before 14 o`clok pm because of migraine, and even we told them in advance before noon these days, we got no hosekeeping at all. The towels smelled terrible strong clorine..
The curtains were very transparente, and with a surveillance light outside the room, it was impossible to get " dark" during the night.
The bathroom was very dirty, the basement of the WC was disgusting dirty, and the WC`seat was out of possition. Both WC and the sink were unfasten to the wall.
The employees had their private home outside our bathroom, and we had noises, meal-preparing , showernoises and voices from they all of the day, because the window from our bathroom had to stay open all of the day.
The internet -presantation was completely wrong, and the pictures were taken by wide-angel lense, so in fact the room was much , much less and "naturally" there were no pictures from the bathroom!
We changed hotel after 10 days, which we should have done much earlier! We regret that we trusted the presentations on internet, and had too big expectations. We needed a place to relax and to stay a place which some comfort, which we did not get. Sad.
A stay is cheap, but is not worth the money. We can not understand that this "hotel" is qualified to be called a hotel! With few rooms, it should be lot easier to maintain the rooms and give a better standard.
We will not at all recommend at stay at "Bamboo Walk Hotel " to other tourists/guests.

am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us.
Before I reply to the issues you had with our property would like to correct some of your statements that are not true:
It is not written anywhere that the hotel was new in 2008. The editor of the website you are referring to was coincidentally a guest of our establishment at the same time when you were here and has posted a reply to your similar report on his website. You will see that his experience with Bamboo Walk Hotel was quite the opposite of yours.
I categorically deny that our internet presentation is misleading or " wrong". I personally took the pictures with a Canon 450D and standard 18-55 mm lenses and the pictures were not modified in any way. What you see is what you get.
It is also not true that we took over the hotel
(formerly Hampden Inn guesthouse) in 2006, as a matter of fact we took it over in 2008 and opened in August of the same year after investing more than 200.000 USD in renovation.
We are very proud of our filipino staff and their genuinely friendly personalities, I must deny your claim that you were not greeted in a welcoming manner. I have spoken to Johna , who checked you in and she is still deeply hurt by your claim and cannot understand why you would accuse her of being unfriendly. She has been working with us since we opened the hotel and has never received any negative comments from any of our guests.
Your claim that the bathroom was dirty puzzles me, our rooms are cleaned daily if our staff is allowed to enter the room. On several occasions you denied them entry during the stipulated housekeeping times in a quite rude manner, therefore they did not dare to disturb you while the 'do not disturb sign' was on your door which was the case for most of your stay.
Yes, our staff lives on site, but you will not hear more noise than from the guests in the room next door, since they are at work most of the time. Some quarters are behind the bathroom which is to the back of the hotel room, closing the bathroom door eliminates any noise from the back.
It is quite remarkable that you did not bring any of your complaints to my attention during your stay, I am sure that I could have addressed all of your problems right away, you admit prompt action by me concerning the Karaoke night ( 2 nights into your stay) and had the perfect opportunity to discuss any other issues there and then.
You did however write us an e-mail at 5:30 am on the saturday you checked out which is almost a copy of your review on tripadvisor. Knowing that management was not around you demanded a refund from the staff and you told them that you would come back for it when they told you that they are not authorized to refund you. Two days after you had checked out and sent us another quite rude e-mail which we did not answer you came back to our hotel demanding a refund. You did not mention that fact in your review.
Only when I personally told you that I would not refund you since you had not given us the opportunity to address the issues you had with the hotel and I found your e-mails quite offensive you decided to post reviews on various websites.
It would have been easy for us to give you another room or change your towels ( we care for the environment and do not use heavily perfumed laundry detergent)
After speaking to other persons who had been guests with us at the same time you stayed with us I am happy to know that you were the only guests had such an unpleasant experience with Bamboo Walk Hotel.
