“Fun, joyful, relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

I stayed 3 nights here and I did spent another 2 weeks on some other yasawas islands too, and after all I'd say Blue lagoon is the best of all. Great food, lovely staff, really comfy and clean dorm, lot of activities ( the game night was fun). You can feel really relax and peaceful on this island, suitable for family/couples/ solo as well!

Room Tip: Take the private boat from the resort to save the time!

Many thanks to the wonderful resort managers and their reservation agents (a special shout-out to Kylie) for going above and beyond to enable my wife and I to make alternate arrangements to stay at the resort. Thanks!!! We'll see you in March!

If you're like many visitors to Fiji, you land on the mainland and skip right to the islands. Sure there's some guilt about this – the real Fiji is on the mainland, but it's not pretty and it's not always friendly.

Meanwhile on the Yasawas, you have places like the Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. One moment of correction: while the name suggests that this resort is on the Blue Lagoon, it is fact *not* (-1 star for that). The resort itself is quite comfortable; and is essentially an all-inclusive minus drinks (the $89 fj meal plan is mandatory). Food is good to excellent, the construction and maintenance is well-taken care of.

If you're thinking about the Lodges, they share a large bathroom with the dorm. The Villas on the other hand are beautiful and spacious (and include your own private bathroom).

Regarding activities .. the beach is long, and swimmable at any tide level, and the water is really lovely. Other than that, the resort has a few small activities (with small nominal fees) such as village visits, sunset cruises, etc. I decided to do my PADI Open Water with Geoffery Koroi (the instructor) which was a real treat. At the end of the day, the highlight of BLBR for me was getting to know some of the staff; many of which are friendly without reservation or wanting something from you.

Room Tip: If you're debating between the Lodge rooms and Villa, the latter are well worth the extra cost

We stayed 6 nights last week of Jan 2014, in deluxe beachfront villa (unit #6). Beach was quiet, very clean, secluded (no roads - only boat service and some foot trails), and no one trying to sell stuff on the beach. The deluxe beachfront unit was big, clean, and comfortable bed (although the birds do sing right outside the room at about 5:30am). The outdoor bathroom is a nice touch, plus unit #6 has two sinks (unit #5 premium beachfront villa only has one bathroom sink). There were other nice touches in the room: umbrellas, bug repellant coils for the porch, overhead fans, and enough power outlets. The ocean edge is literally 10 meters from the front step of the villa. What made the visit really good for us was the quality of the food - variety, taste, and presentation. Breakfast was fairly standard continental + cooked eggs, lunch had standard items plus daily specials, and dinner was fixed menu that varied each of 6 nights. The staff was wonderful - friendly, available, and knew our names in the first hour we were there (thanks, Philip !). A couple areas for improvement: need to try to do something about the flies around the dining area; this was quite a nuisance. Also, the main dive boat was down (it was nothing great), and the back up boat was basically a row boat with a motor - not what was expected for the standard dive fees.

Room Tip: The only deluxe beachfront villa is unit #6, and it has A/C and small refrigerator. This is definit...

Nice staff, nice service. Fijian people are really kind. But why we have to pay almost all the extra activities (and it's not cheap). Even to go to the village, we have to pay... and if you want to go without guide (the village is not difficult to find) staff discourage you to go alone ...
We have also almost 48 h very bad weather. No possible to go outside... but staff didn't propose other activities (as movies or quizz ...) It seems all has to be stop when the weather is bad...
and you have to know if you are blocked to the island because of bad weather, (it was our case, no boat, no plane the day we planned to leave), you have no alternative, you will be in the the same bedroom and same food package... It could be costly !

Room Tip: be careful with beach villa... If there is wind, it's terrible at night and if there is rain, th...

Thank you for our 4/5 star rating! We are thrilled that you loved our hard working team and the service you received. As a first time traveller to the outer islands of Fiji, perhaps you were unaware that the villages are residential communities as opposed to open tourist attractions. We are lucky enough to be 'invited' into these villages at set times of the week and offered a guided tour thru. For this reason, we are careful to adhere to the island rules and try to make sure that the people of Nacula Village are not subjected to what could be hundreds of tourist every month walking through and around their private homes, any time of the day. The activities that do incurr a slight FJ$ charge are for tours that involve getting you somewhere by boat, a captain and again, a guide. It is also a take it or leave option as the resort offers many in house activities, completely free of charge. Finally, we are sorry that Mother Nature decided to introduce the weather that you experienced, it was trying times for all and as we have seen the boats and seaplanes interrupted only when the seas are at their very worst (as far - only 6 times in 4 years), this was unforseen and for your stay, bad timing. We hope in the near furture, you get another chance to see the normally clear skies and calm seas that Fiji is known for.

This place is heaven, the food is delicious, didn't hear of any tummy bugs the standard of hygiene is excellent. Cant fault the staff, they are a warm genuine laid back bunch.

The beach is safe for snorkelling, no pounding waves to drag you across the coral like some of the other islands. There is a well organised dive centre with safe well maintained kit and a good selection of dive sites.

We were there for Christmas and it felt like we had the beach to ourselves sometimes. Its not a large hotel/party island, its blissfully tranquil. BTW, they make quite an effort for Christmas.

The new 2 bedroom garden villas are immaculate with very comfortable beds, large quiet overhead fan, no aircon but not a problem as the room is well ventilated. The beachfront villas do have aircon but at a premium, all the rooms are so close to the beach im not sure its worth the extra for 2 adults.

A beautiful peaceful island that lived up to the image I had of Fiji. I would say this is one of the prettiest places Ive ever been to.

Room Tip: Go for one of the new rooms

I loved my stay at the resort. Firstly the beach and water are amazing: white sand, crystal clear water! The food was also great, the chef really makes an effort and as a vegetarian I never felt like I missed out. I stayed in a private room but with shared bathroom, which was fine. The room was basic but a good size and the bathroom was cleaned daily. Overall the staff were great, very friendly and very relaxed. There were a couple of times when we waited for a while to get our drinks, but overall service was pretty good. I also did a few dives and the dive crew was very friendly and helpful.

I cannot wait to go back to the Blue Lagoon Beach Resort!

Room Tip: The Cave trip was a bit expensive but definitely worth it!
