“Old world charm with friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

Booked this hotel as it was close to Luxembourg but in the German countryside over the Moselle River and in fab Riesling wine country. Our initial impression was the hotel was dated but the room was clean and well furnished but no air conditioning which was a problem as we stayed at the end of July and it was 32oC. The pool and spa were excellent, especially the comfortable pool loungers. We ate dinner one night in the Bacchus restaurant and the food and wine was 5 star excellent. The breakfast was amazing and included in our room rate. The Reception staff spoke good English and were very friendly, as were restaurant staff. All in all, a great hotel.

This hotel is a benchmark for other hotels. it is in the middle of fields and vineyards, next to a castle and a casino to play baccarat and chemin de fer and other casino games.
they left us a hand-written letter of welcome in our room, they accompanied us to show the particular system of opening the room. The breakfast is simply somptuous, countless fresh juices, uncountable varieties of breads, cheese, and the ham is the pig-leg cut in front of you with the blade-machine of the butcher.
Extremely polite , smiling, helpful, staff. We particularly remember the polite chinese lady helping in the breakfast room
The swimming pool has not the usual simple plasti chairs, because they have real confortable sofas, three kinds of saunas extremely clean and perfectly in order. The accessories of the bathroom, marble, Dushelux and Hans Grohe, Trussardi Beauty Sets are another indicator of the huge investiment in money and architecture project. They would polish your shoes in the night for free (they have a basket you need to leave in front of the door)They would give you bikes free of charge and even a printed coloured plan to show the path and track. three restaurants of different varieties, from the German Stube until the sophisticated restaurant of MR. Bau.
A place where guests are kings and queens. As they respect you, as they wear a correct uniform suit when they listen or serve or help you, please consider to wear appropriate suits and dresses . I do not like persons from overseas when they wear tastelessly as if they would live on a beach. In Europe we should not import such modern barbarians' habits

Room Tip: the front rooms are in front of the parking, But, really, we have heard maybe two cars during one da...

The victor's residenz hotel was the only available hotel for daily job at Luxembourg at the time we planned to book.

The fares are very affordable based it is supposed to be a 5 stars category.

The staff is very nice yet the service is not up to the standards of this category of hotels :
- German is the only language spoken fluently there: medium English and bad French but I appreciated how the staff tried their best to help

- the first dinner at the Bacchus restaurant was perfect ( tasty, perfect service and quickly served) but the following days were terrible as we had to wait 45-60mn to be served the first meal which was upsetting particularly when
1- you are tired by a long working day,
2- the restaurant is not even packed (10 people max)
3- you have a waitress come to you 20mn after you ordered because she did not catch what we asked (again language problem)
4- the bread/butter... Served to wait were very disappointing against those served the first day (taste, freshness)

The breakfast buffet is very good with as many choices as you would expect of this type of hotel and it was fresh and tasty++++. If they could just confirm we finished our plate before taking it away whenever we go get another thing.

- the check-out takes longer than I experienced in other 4/5 hotels.

I would have loved enjoying the wellness center but since I lacked of time, once because of the delay of the restaurant, I missed the opportunity.

One other good point, several International TV channels are accessible and not just the documentary ones for English, French...

I heard about the 3 stars restaurant, and I may come pay a visit to it. But this time was not the occasion.

I more or less lived here for 4 years. Lovely staff, very comfortable rooms, great spa/beauty treatments & a lovely pool.
Add to that the delicious food at Christian Bau's restaurant, what is not to like?

Our visit was a 2 day Wnter break and the Hotel lives up to its 5 star rating. The staff were very helpful at reception and in the 2 restaurants we visited. We did, however find the Door key a little awkward to operate. The night reception staff were excellent on the way they handled a plumbing problem at midnight and within minutes they organised an alternative room.

Overall, this is a high quality hotel. And no less should be expected. After all it is advertised as a 5-star hotel. Although service, comfort and food were well above satisfying, a 4-star ranking could be a suitable ranking as well.

If you visit in the summer note that rooms do not have air conditioning and ventilation options can be inadequate. Anyway this has become a typical feature of German hospitality.

We dinned in one of the restaurants and it was worth it. However, the quality and freshness of some items in the menu, such as cheese, could significantly be improved. Great service in general. Bar staff friendly and helpful as well.

Be aware of smoking regulations, especially at the restaurant (outdoors) and bar. If you do not smoke, you might end up sharing a few cigarettes without choice or notice.

We also note that the dressing code in the restaurant may not always be enforced. Shorts and vests may be more common that you would expect.

The hotel in general has good eating options, and is on a walking distance to the border with Luxembourg and the exciting city of Remich. OK, not that exciting, but worth visiting especially on a sunny day.

This has to be the cleanest building I have ever been in! In fact it is so clean I began to search out dirt! and guess what, I couldn't find any! Not a finger print or a crumb or a spec of dust, it is immaculate from top to bottom. Very "Romanesque" A total Roman theme runs throughout. I don't care for the Roman look but this place has carried it off to perfection. Run with typical German style and efficiency. The only fault is it is not air conditioned. We were there when it was humid, apparently unusual in these parts. We could have done with air-con. The pool area very nice,I would have rated it higher but for the Roman thing going on. Purely down to personal taste. the jacuzzi not hot enough, the work out room just that. Not a proper gym. Breakfast was fantastic. Many hot items like bacon were cooked to order in front of you. The service was second to none. Absolutely outstanding. The standard rooms were huge, very comfortable beds, fabulous bathroom, even this was a bit "Roman" but cleaner than you could ever imagine.

Room Tip: A view up the hill or down the hill. There is no view outstanding. Just go for basic and enjoy a l...
