“Perfect Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

From the moment you arrive at Hermitage Bay all of your troubles fly away. We spent a week there for our Honeymoon. You will be greeted with an ice cold scented towel, mojito, and one of the most beautiful views in the world. Each staff member is extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming. You will not meet a stranger, which makes your trip even more relaxing. We stayed in Hillside Suite 31 and it tops any view or hotel I have ever stayed in. The view, surround sound, outdoor shower, interior, snacks, bathtub, are all a recipe for success. We really enjoyed the unique snacks at the bar each night before dinner and the live music. The options for each meal are endless and all of the food is 5 star. My mouth waters just thinking about all of the wonderful food we had. I loved the Cashew Nut Sandwich and Eggs Benedict at Breakfast. The Fish Sandwich and BLT with avocado were delicious lunch picks. Dinner my favorite dish was the eggplant ravioli. And the deserts are literally to die for. The view is impeccable from the restaurant and the staff is extremely helpful. The beach is so relaxing with comfortable lounge chairs, towels, and a sun proof umbrella. The beach staff is extra helpful bringing ice buckets and water as soon as you arrive on the beach and constantly coming around to see if they can bring you anything else. The water sport staff is great as well. We highly recommend the boat tour and snorkeling excursion. The hotel in its entirety is gorgeous. The architecture, decor, and landscaping is second to none. The last day we had a couples massage which was absolutely amazing. We also had dinner on the beach our last night and it was an excellent and romantic way to cap off a great week. We did very thorough research before picking Hermitage Bay and asked countless people for suggestions. The two of us and the other guests we spoke to all agree that there is no contest, Hermitage Bay cannot be beat! I cannot say enough great things about Hermitage Bay and the staff. A return trip is definitely in our future.

We stayed for five days in January, 2014, and had a terrific time. The hotel is beautiful and the staff can't be beat. They're always friendly and willing to please. The room was very nice, but the real advantage is the plunge pool and the extensive outside deck with a killer view. The reason the hotel exceeded expectations, though, was that the food was exceptional. There was an excellent choice at every meal and it was a real gourmet experience. On the downside, there was not enough light in the bedroom and bathroom at night, and there is no snorkeling on the beach. An extra benefit is the cats that dropped by our pool area to say hello every day.We also enjoyed the peace and quiet, since the hotel is adults-only and is pretty isolated. We enjoyed the outdoor shower, which we have also experienced in several hotels in the Maldives. A bit more shelf space by the shower would have been appreciated, though. Although it's a good hike up the hill to many of the rooms, the golf carts are always available to shuttle you to or from the rooms at any time. Overall, our stay was a completely enchanting experience.

We decided on Hermitage Bay for our Honeymoon and couldn't have been more pleased! The views were just remarkable as we stayed in a hillside villa. The room was perfect, good size with a comfy bed. The bathroom had a great view and I really enjoyed the private outside shower. If you want to be active there are a multitude of activities available. From sailing, jet skis and a boat trip around the bay to fishing, horseback riding and snorkeling. If you want to do anything all you have to do is ask and they will make it happen. The food was outstanding for all meals. The menu changed daily and was extremely fresh! They were very conscious to food allergies and dealt very well with my wife who is a picky eater. The beach is beautiful and the pool was lovely as well. As unbelievable as the resort is the staff rounds out the entire experience. They all knew our names from the moment we arrived and we knew all of their names by the time we left. They are so friendly, gracious and entertaining people. They treated us with respect but at the same time were playful with their sense of humors. They made the trip everything we wanted and for that we are very thankful. I would recommend Hermitage Bay to anyone who is looking for a dream beach vacation! Needless to say this will not be our only trip to Hermitage Bay!!!!

Room Tip: The hillside villa has a private pool connected. Small but perfect for early morning wake ups and ev...

This is a beautiful, relaxing and superbly run resort. Everything you read in the previous reviews is true and we had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday thanks to all the incredibly hard working and friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Few of the reviews mention the music provided each night. The quality of the musicians was exceptional and varied each night, playing while we had dinner and afterwards near the bar. However, not at all intrusive due to the teiring and positioning of the restaurant.

Room Tip: We were in Nos 20 and 38 up the hill. Both totally private with beautiful views. No 20 easy to walk...

This was our third visit to this hotel as we really enjoy everything about it. Once again we took a beach front cottage and requested no upgrade to a villa up the hill with pool and view as we like being by the beach.
The staff remembered us and were extremely welcoming and friendly. A lot of time, money and effort is spent training the staff and they can be justly proud of the standard of courtesy shown, from the beach boy to managerial level.
The food is as good as ever with waiter served breakfast rather than buffet style. A wide selection of healthy, and less healthy, dishes, so plenty of choice. Lunch and breakfast are both served in the dining room which is tiered so there is not a bad table to be had, everybody has a fantastic view of the beach. Lunch is casual with a selection of starters, main courses and desserts and although the service can be slow it is worth waiting for as the quality is excellent. For dinner, the dining room chairs have white covers put over them, candles are everywhere and the ambience is very different from lunch and breakfast although it is the same venue. There is apparently an afternoon snack although if you get through 3 meals a day you'd do well to fit in an afternoon snack!!
The drinks are all recognised brands so although the rate is all inclusive you are not palmed off with inferior brands, and the cocktails are superb. (Try the hermitage gold with rum and champagne and fruit juices - mouth watering!!)
The spa, gym and water sports are all available for guests, but since there are only 25 cottages there was rarely an occasion when you were unable to use the one you wanted when you wanted. Devon will take you for a trip along the coast in the Rib or teach you dinghy sailing, or get you out to a boat which takes you fishing in deeper waters, there's plenty to choose from if you want your holiday to be active.
However if you'd rather lie quietly and read a book there are plenty of sun loungers along the beach with umbrellas, and a beach boy to bring fresh fruit and iced water or cocktails to you as you relax. The beach is never crowded as there are only 19 umbrellas, but with the hillside villas having their own pools some guests stay there and often guests are out on visits or doing water sports etc, so no need to be up at dawn putting your towels on a couple of loungers under an umbrella!!
My only criticism is the same one as last time - the beach front and beachside villas have a slightly open plan bathroom/dressing area and there is no separate toilet cubicle! Once again I spoke with one of the receptionists about this and she was saying there have been other guests who have mentioned this so maybe somebody will think it is a good idea to put in a simple door creating a private toilet facility!! Having said this, we have returned to stay here 3 times so we are obviously prepared to put up with this till they get the joiners in!!!
Will we return? Yes we will!! But we'd still like that door!!

Room Tip: Hillside bungalows have great views, some have private pools and a door on the bathroom(!) but are a...

Hermitage Bay blew me away - in fact it had me in tears on my first night (and as I later found out not the only one to have been so overwhelmed by the magic of it) - and there were various reasons for this, including the staff, location, food and entertainment. It was faultless - an assault on your senses. From the sounds of the crickets and the sea lapping at night to the hummingbirds that greeted us each morning outside our beautiful hillside suite (never mind the fantastic views) and the fireflies at night, to the smell and taste of the fresh, local produce cooking (not to mention the cocktails!). We were very well looked after and it has given me the most beautiful memories that will live with me forever.

I have been lucky enough to stay at a number of 5* resorts and hotels around the world and I can say that Hermitage Bay is amongst the best I have experienced.

The location is so pretty it actually bought a tear to my other half! The menus changed daily and the food was simply stunning with very good quality ingredients.

We stayed in a hillside suite which despite being an uphill walk (chauffeured golf buggies were always available but we chose not to use them all the time) offered fantastic views over the bay along with a plunge pool, sunbathing chairs and an outside area in which to relax. Inside the suite was everything we hoped for including a large comfortable bed, a large bath and an outside shower. Being woke up by the chatter of humming birds every morning was just magical.

The restaurant and bar area was clean and classy and the beach spectacular. As we hired a car for 6 of our 10 days and went out each morning to explore I can say the beach at hermitage bay was one of the best on the island.

With free water sports available the bay itself is a very calm and easy place to swim, snorkel and sail. With Devon on hand looking out for you and offering tuition it was safe too.

But the best thing about Hermitage Bay is the staff. They treat you more like a friend than a guest, looking after your every need without being intrusive at all. I have to say they are all amazing people, really good at their jobs and a massive credit to Hermitage bay.

We shall definitely be going back.

Room Tip: The hillside suites have a plunge pool and are much more private, but they are at the top of a steep...
