We stayed at The Verendah in December 09, nice welcome at reception and transport to room. Beautiful room, well appointed, as described in the brochure. The view was outstanding, but you had to balance at the end of the balconey to see it because of the overgrown trees!! It was quite a hike to the restaurant and pool so we changed our rooms, reception arranged this, without any fuss. Entertainment was truly first class with something different each night. The spa was prohibitively expensive in comparison to other hotels we've stayed. Buffet restaurant was excellent for breakfast, lunch was OK but dinner was a stuggle for us, the vegitarian in our group went hungry, with virtually no salad on offer.
The beach bar was excellent.
The Al a Carte restaurant was good but a bit limited in choice.
The Silver service restaurant (extra charge) was only open one night out of seven instead of the 3 which it should have been. Bar staff and some of the waitressess had a definate attitude problem, but this did disapear when the boss was abou!. Yes we did enjoy our holiday, but it could, and should have been so much better!

Accommodation is superb, all units are separate villas with astounding views. Everything you could possibly want in your room is there, the staff are the friendliest and most helpful, the beaches are glorious and if you want a bit of a health break without the usual spa resort prices, this is the place! There is a health bar chocked full of healthy, delicious, food, a gym , plenty of daily exercise classes, yoga classes, water aerobics, and a great Spa for treatments, but most importantly, you wind down so much that 5 days feels like a 10 day break! And all included for the price of a very reasonable package holiday. We have been twice in a year and can't wait for the next trip.

The Verandah resort is set across the coastline between two very scenic bays, and based very close to the pretty and wild Atlantic coastline where the Devil's bridge can be found. The rooms are well equipped and furnished to a high standard; with my only small criticism being the fact that the structure of the roof meant that heavy rain overnight was in fact very noisy rain overnight also. Having said that, the nature of the island is a mix of tropical storms and sunshine, so expecting an entirely silent night was a little ambitious!
The pool area is pretty and suitably large so as not to feel crowded, and the service from the nearby bar area was good. The selection of 3 restaurants was nice, although I did feel that a charge being levied for the luxury restaurant was a little 'tight' as it is not a cheap destination in the first place. I am sure there are simpler and more effective ways of boosting revenues that would allow for the restaurants to be genuinely 'all inclusive'.
Food was varied at the other two restaurants, and had a mix of different styles and ingredients that kept me happy for the week. The staff were reasonably efficient, and typically easy going in a Caribbean fashion. Friendly, and approachable throughout.
The use of the golf buggy lift system between areas of the resort works well, and considering the size of the venue, would certainly be a great benefit to the infirm or elderly.
Overall... a nice place to visit, with good food, good staff, and lovely scenery.

Came back from the Verandah after a 10 day holiday which we absolutely loved ... we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and received a bottle of champagne from the hotel , wine from the virgin rep too to help us celebrate ! We had a lovely time and cannot fault the hotel or staff , I cannot understand the bad reviews on staff rudeness as we did not experience anything like this at all ... Everyone said hello with a friendly smile and wave . The food was great ! having put on 8 pounds in 10 days I think this says it all ! Steve was most impressed with the drinks being premium brand as at other caribbean hotels this is not the case . Loved "Mickeys" beach ! and the shower has been named "Steves shower" as he was the first to use it !!!! Mickey wouldnt let us get our own drinks and we felt spoilt with this service ! and with his regular weather updates it was great ! We totally chilled out on "our beach " and actually fell asleep as was so relaxed ! As said before we enjoyed our holiday very much and met some lovely people , especially Ian and Cath who we spent a lovely day out with and went to Shirley Heights, Nelsons dockyard etc...
We have already booked to go back next December ! Well done to all staff at this hotel, and if you have already booked to go do not be put off by the negative comments.. and enjoy your holiday like we did ,,,,

My sister and I spent a week at this fabulous resort celebrating my 50th birthday. The room was clean, airy and very comfortable. We rented a suite in the 100 block overlooking the bay and spent every evening relaxing in the shelter of the terrace. From this block, it was a 2 minute or less walk to the main pool and about 3 minutes total down to the main beach. the reception lobby is a good 8-10 minute walk from the room but we didn't need to go there other than for a chance to get some exercise walking back up the hill! The Verandah Spa Resort staff were incredible and made us feel not only welcome, but treasured and valued as guests. This is a beautiful spot for those who want only to relax and enjoy the sun, food and open bar. It is isolated from town but the amenities on the resort satisfied us immensely. The guest services office will book reasonably priced tours. For example, we took a short tour to St. Johns and spent a lovely morning there. Total cost was $14.00US each for the return fare. The shower does spray water on the floor but no one seemed to mind that we used our towels to wipe it up. We did make the walk to Long Bay beach and turned right around and came back up to the resort's beach-much nicer. It is a small beach but the resort itself is small and so not a problem. We couldn't say enough about the staff. We did stay all inclusive and anyone not using this option would find it expensive. The variety of food was great and we were never bored with the meals. For honeymooners, older couples wanting some romance time, young families looking for a quiet, secure place and for singles who want to feel comfortable while travelling alone---this is the place. I hope to return one day with my husband.
