We stayed at jolly beach in June 2014. After reading the reviews I was a little apprehensive but found quiet a different story. Yes the rooms are very dated and there isn't any drawers for your clothing but the large waldrobe is suffient to accommodate enough space for 2 weeks worth of clothes. It was very clean and that's what counts doesn't it ??? The air conditioning is not good and maybe this should be looked into. But there was a fan which helped a little. Hot water on tap although the shower could be a little temperamental at times. Take a travel kettle as there isnt tea coffee making facilities in the room. Let's not forget this is a 3 star not the Hilton. Food was good always found something tasty and not an upset tummy in sight. Regarding the birds in the dinning room yes they are a pain but didn't really annoy us to much. I feel if the staff had kept the cage doors shut then maybe they wouldnt get in in the first place. All food is covered suffiently so only when your at your table do they become a problem. Staff are amazing nothing to much trouble for them especially Neil the bar tender he is a credit to the hotel and made out nights at the bar very entertaining indeed. One evening I must have looked a little out of sorts and he made me an antiguan smile cocktail very much appreciated. The grounds and pool area are well kept although I feel the beach area even though it's a public beach could be better maintained by the hotel ( sunbeds and shade ) I picked the hotel for the beach and sea and was not disappointed, very safe and not one jelly fish haha !!!
I highly recommend a day trip with creole cruises we had a lovely day out on the water with a lobster lunch. Also don't miss high tea in the court yard at 4.30 each day best cup of tea of the day with cakes and sandwiches too. Would I recommend this hotel yes I would go with an open mind this is not Spain its the caribbean.
