I have just got back from our wonderful Honeymoon at Coco bay, and I felt after reading some on the reviews on here, it was essential to tell you my point of view....

I have travelled far and wide, I used to be cabin crew long haul, and i have stayed all over the world travelling for 10 years, Coco bay is now one of my top favourite destinatons in the world....

Firstly the food is to die for, I love my food and I am a very fussy eater, but honestly if you are a diet forget it, there is no way you can strave here, or stay on that diet, the food is really five star, the presentation the selection, of the food is first class also. The chef is Scottish for a start, and knows his stuff. the local wine included in the all inclusive is lovely, it is no chablis but it is free....I have stayed in Barbados before on the West coast and I was very disappointed with the drinks and food there, but here it is fab..honestly!!

The service, well by the time you leave you know everyone who works at Coco Bay, how many places can you say that about, but they really do become your friends whilst you are there, they are a pleasure to be served by. My Gore knows your name from day one, andknows where you like to be seating he is fab, Monique on reception always making sure your ok, Tony at the bar remembers your drink, so you dont even have to ask, there are so many to compliment, they are all great!!

The rooms, on the website, it does explain no aircon in some of the rooms, but to be honest you soon get used to being without it, there is always a lovely breeze to cool you down, the shower room is fab, lovely to have the doors open on an evening whilst getting ready, when I stayed in the maldives the bathrooms where completely outside!! So you did share the shower and Loo with bugs, and spiders!! But here you can just close the doors...simple! The cottage itself is stunning and very romantic, everything you expect from the picture, no there is no telly, but there wasnt one in the maldives either, and that was far more expensive...and was 5 star!! But your on holiday why do you need one?? The views are to die for, the workmanship of the cottages is wonderful, the bed is so comfortable and the pillows!!

We made many friends on this holiday, many of the guests staying were returning for the fourth time, we met couples getting married out there, who had been the previous year, I did wonder in the beginning why they kept returning here, when there are so many other places to see, but now I understand why...

This place needs deserves to be 5 star in my opinion, based on its food, location, beautiful beaches, service, stunning views etc...but it is 3.5 star mainly because there is no gym, golf course or 5 pools, but to be honest this is why we chose this place, you want a honeymoon that will feel secluded and exclusive.... So enjoy, and take the negative views with a pinch of salt, and you will have a holiday to remember!!

I rated Cocobay 4 out 5 based on the price we paid and the value for money that it represented in comparision to other hotels in Antigua.

As a relatively last minute booking booking we only manage to book a standard cottage which has no A/C! Big mistake, After the first night we asked if we could pay for an upgrade. Luckily after 3 nights we were moved to a lovely sea view cottage with excellent views and some nice cold A/C! It cost us 300GBP for the upgrade.
If we wouldn't have been able to upgrade our room it would have definitely marked the hotel much lower. I feel a international hotel of this standard should have A/C throughout all rooms. Although i was aware of this before booking so i cant complain too much!!

We were impressed with the food especially Dinner where you had a option of 3 starters - A soup - 3 main dishes - 3 or 4 deserts. I wasn't so impressed with the buffet style dinners which were on 2 (i think) evenings a week.

No complaints with the drinks that were available.

There are 2 beaches either side of the hotel one of which has sea kayaks, Hobie Cats and a company offering Jet Skis, Horse Riding, sunset Cruises etc and the other beach was much smaller but very peaceful.

The vast majority of the staff were very helpful and friendly.

my husband and i spent 10 wonderful days at cocobay may 2009 our third visit to this wonderful hotel

we had always gone before between christmas and new year and had the most wonderful time meeting people of our own age 60+ and also young people this time was just as successful although the temperatures were much higher which meant i had to spend more time in the most beautiful pool i have ever swam in with spectacular views of the caribean ocean.

what can i say about o,neal and his wonderful staff they all rembered us and the welcome from them all was overwhalming i can not pick out one they are all wonderful and we are both really looking forward to seeing them all on the 27th December 2009 Do not hesitate to go to cocobay if you want relaxation, lovely staff and a beautiful location
and if you fly virgin the check in and chill out

two very satisfied customers

This is an ideal place to get away from it all. The individual cottages are basic, but they've got everything you need including a little fridge and a hammock on your veranda to chill out in and watch the amazing sunsets over the sea. You'll share your cottage with the wild life and if you're a light sleeper take ear plugs as the tree frogs, birds and insects get quite loud once the sun goes down. Also take the strongest mosquito repellent you can find with a high percentage of DEET and lots of it. You'll need it.

The location is perfect with great beaches and snorkelling so close by and lots of other beaches only a short drive away. The hotel staff and facilities are excellent with a fantastic all inclusive restaurant serving a very adventurous and fresh menu. Great house red and white wine as well and no lack of it. There are no children as guests.

The hotel pool is an infinity pool with the phenomenal views from it. From the hotel you can book out kayaks, snorkelling gear and two person boats for free. You can kayak across the bay to your own private beach which takes about 45 minutes each way.

To explore the island you will need to hire a car/jeep. Driving in Antigua is entertaining and I strongly recommend taking out the full damage waiver. If you are in a collision the police are very thorough and the car hire firms very relaxed. Antigua is surprisingly expensive as well so if you're out and about and not eating at the hotel plan on East Caribdean Dollar equivalent of between £5 to £8 sterling for a sandwich and a drink.

Avoid the weekly evening Shirley Hights 'Party' as it is just a tourist trap. There are plenty of parking spaces if you want to drive yourself, but we thought there would be some great local bands and a chilled out atmosphere and instead it was just a cover band, over priced food and loads of tourists. Go to Shirley Hights during the day instead for the amazing view.

We just returned from a trip to Cocobay. The staff is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately our luggage made it 3 days after our arrival and the stuff that the gift shop sold us was ridiculously expensive. The views from the hotel are amazing. We were in cottage 36 and we had a partially obstructed view of the Carribean. I would think that the seaview cottage 35 would have sweeping view of the ocean. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. The manager Oneal personally called the airport to find out about the whereabouts of our luggage. The beach is what you think of the Carribean should be. The food was great especilly breakfast and lunch which were both buffet style. I would recommend this resort to couples, young and not so young, as the atmosphere at the resort is relaxing and friendly.
