Our second visit to Curtain bluff was for our son's wedding on June 1st. the staff were so helpful & made the day wonderful for both the bridal couple & family & friends.

The terrace where the wedding takes place has a breathtaking view & couldn't be more perfect.

Our granddaughter surprised us all by water skiing at first attempt & they both enjoyed all the watersports available.

Once again food excellent & the attention to detail couldn't be faulted.

Our travel agent recommended Curtain Bluff and know we understand why. As soon as you arrive you know this place is special. We were met at the front desk by several individuals including the Chelle Hulford, Owner and Rob Sherman, Managing Director. Service doesn't get any better. Neither does the food. We stayed in the Morris Bay Suite for a week and it was awesome. It's easy to understand why do many of their guests come back year after year. We've already made reservations for next year.

We chose Curtain Bluff for our two week honeymoon and boy....are we glad we did. This place will win a place in your heart and deservedly so.
As soon as you arrive you are made to feel welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. Antigua is a beautiful country and as soon as we stepped off the plane, a rep from Curtain Bluff was there to ensure our trip through customs was brief and trouble free, we were even given priority in the taxi queue!
If you love sports, you are spoilt for choice as the tennis courts are world class. You also have deep sea fishing, snorkeling, donuts, diving, kayaks, sailing, squash courts, yoga and pilates all included in your stay.
Please ignore any bad reviews of the food as we were blown away by the quality and quantity of the menu each day. There is so much choice and it literally felt like we were dining in a top london restaurant each night! ( and we have dined in some of the best including The Ivy, Claridges, Nobu etc)
You even have afternoon tea laid out for you each afternoon!
The desserts are also out of this world, our favourite is the chocolate molten lava cake that oozed melted chocolate, heaven!!!!!
This place is not glitzy and modernised, it is decorated in the traditional caribbean way, but your comfort is assured and you cant help but relax.
Fresh towels and bedding are always available including a fully stocked fridge full of alcohol, soft drinks and water.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite also called the Terrace room and I fully recommend you book this room, as we had an amazing panoramic view of the ocean with a jacuzzi on our balcony, all to ourselves!!.
You want a bottle of champagne while relaxing in the jacuzzi..no problem, room service is included, and you can have any course brought up to your room should you wish to dine in private.
Overall the most special thing about this resort is the staff, you come away feeling so lucky that you have had the pleasure of meeting such a great group of people. Every single member of staff was polite and courteous and had the ability to make you feel truly special.
Our waiter Geron deserves a special mention, as he was so welcoming and we always looked forward to seeing him. Nigel, the tennis instructor was also a great guy and nothing was too much trouble.
The spa, although a little pricey is out of this world, you must treat yourself to a facial, my skin was glowing!!
There is not much nightlife and if you are looking for a big party at night, this place is not for you. There is a band that play to you as you are dining, but it is extremely laid back and most nights we were in bed by 10.
The beach is excellent, there are no reserved sunbeds and although they are a little uncomfortable, you have access to unlimited beach towels.

Overall this place is very special, and if you are considering a visit, please go, you will fall in love with Curtain Bluff as we did. I was actually in tears the night before we left, a first for me!!!!

This was our first time here. We stayed for six nights and we loved it!

Because there are so many repeat visitors, staff tend to assume you know about the place, so you may need to be a bit more assertive and ask questions about some things, but the staff are uniformly responsive, helpful, and courteous.

THE SETTING
It is indeed on a bluff jutting out into the water (in technical terms it's on a point or promontory), which means that the breezes tend to blow all the time through your suite, which is most pleasant. The bedroom is air conditioned, and we used it most nights, primarily to drown out the tropical symphony of the tree frogs.
The grounds are well kept and full of palms, flowers, and songbirds. There are two beaches, one where the surf is a bit more active (it's the beach you will see from your room) and another that is calm and ringed by umbrella shaped shelters amidst palm trees. The water activities hut is here (just about anything possible is available), and it includes a window where you can pick up extra bath towels (you will find two in your room – they are the blue ones). At the far end of the beach is a pavilion with a bar and an open air restaurant where a buffet lunch is served; you can also order from a lunch menu. We chose from the menu the first day and then ate the buffet every day after – do not miss the mangoes in the salad bar, which are tree-ripened and local.
Dinner is in the main building, in a very large room that is open on one side. Like the rest of the place, it is a lovely setting. Be sure to have a drink (I became addicted to the one they call The Tropical Cooler) on the bar terrace before dinner.

THE SUITE
We had a large Executive suite, with cool tile floors throughout. The furniture was bright, clean, and appropriately “tropical”. The view from our two balconies was simply extraordinary.

THE FOOD
Breakfast offers all the traditional possibilities (eggs, pancakes, cereal, etc) and some nice local fruits – do not miss the pineapple, the papaya, and the regional grapefruit. We had our breakfast on the balcony every morning– delivered on time and always delicious.
Lunch was not a gourmet extravaganza, but the quality was uniformly very good and the food was interesting. Do not miss the Wednesday barbecued chicken and ribs, when a steel band plays. Service was excellent every time. Ask for a nonalcoholic Orange Crush (a frozen drink made with orange juice), Mrs. Halford’s favorite lunch beverage.
Dinner, every single night, was very good to superb. You will have a choice of: two soups, three appetizers, two salads, and five entrees (one pasta, two seafoods, and two meats), and dessert (16 choices and do not miss the chocolate lava cake). The service was always very good and the presentations were creative.

THE BEACHES
All rooms have a view of the surf beach, but we spent our time sitting and swimming at the other beach. Management asks that guests not reserve chairs or shelters ahead of time, so there were always nice places to sit. Although the wait varied, within minutes of our having sat down under one of the shelters one of the bar staff would come to ask what we would like to drink, AND staff would periodically re-check to see if we wanted refills.
The water is crystalline and we had very good weather in spite of very a pessimistic long range forecast – we did have a couple of days with a shower or two, but they passed quickly.

THE SPA
Expensive but awesome. Treatment rooms are open to the sea – outstanding setting.

THE SCENE
This is a wonderful place to relax. The vibe is quite friendly and we saw people of all ages, with many gray hairs, but lots of people in their 30’s and 40’s too. Bands do play during dinner, but they tend to keep it in the calmer vein, and we were only tempted to dance one night, when the band picked it up a bit.
BOTTOM LINE
If you need clanging casinos, college kids running around and yelling, and wet T-shirt contests, this is most certainly NOT for you. But if you want a very, very well run place for adults, with helpful and friendly staff, a marvelous setting, very good accommodations and excellent food, then you will find a little bit of paradise here. Come and lose your stress.

My partner treated me to a surprise holiday for my birthday. I didn't know until a week before where exactly we were going. I had never thought I would have ever stayed at a place like Curtain Bluff but we had a wonderful time. It is what I would say is a traditional Caribbean resort -- no fancy gadgets in the rooms or sleek designer bars but just perfect. You could easily never leave the resort, although we rented a car (which the hotel arranged) and we enjoyed the rest of Antigua -- particularly English Harbour. The staff at Curtain Bluff are first rate. You never feel that you are putting any one out and they clearly seem proud of where they work. I loved the spa and we took advantage of the free watersports (including a snorkel trip to a nearby reef). One of the watersports guys even took us out on a little hobie cat and we tried sailing for the first time. In short, it was a wonderful holiday. I had no complaints about the food either. We did go to Carlisle Bay for dinner just one night. It's a more modern facility and we enjoyed "East". But we didn't feel that we were missing anything by staying put.
