“Relaxation at the beach at a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

Lovely resort with pretty grounds. Rooms were nice, very big bathrooms with rain shower and corner bath, nice bathroom products. We had ocean view rooms which had a good view of the ocean. Staff are incredibly helpful. English is good (by Vietnam standards) with only one breakfast shift where we were unable to get what we wanted with the eggs due to a language issue. Hotel doesn't have a bar for drinks in the evening or a lounge to listen to music but those were the only extras we missed. Beach is nice and clean and we swam in both sea and pool. Lots of sun loungers at pool and on beach. No hawkers on beach which is nice. The food was really good, far better than we had expected. We took the all in package which included breakfast and dinner and that was a good choice with lots of variety and juice included. Portions are very large. My husband and son hired motor bikes and toured the island which they really enjoyed. Free wifi which worked well and is a big plus when travelling with teenagers. This is a really quiet laid back beach holiday with very little to do. This is not for you if you are looking for night life. Quite a few families with small children. Overall very well priced for what you get and we would definitely stay here again. Although it was rainy season we only had rain at night and the days were mostly clear and sunny, sometimes overcast but no rain in the day. We booked directly with the hotel for the all inclusive stay three nights pay for two package which included meals and this was cheaper than Agoda.

Room Tip: There is building going on over the one side of the resort. We had rooms G113 and G213 which were on...

We went to Famiana in low season on a half-board basis. We were given 2 rooms in the first row of Ocean View "bungalows" (bungalow H). Each bungalow has 4 rooms - 2 up, 2 down. We found that the twin room (115), where our children stayed, had a fabulous sea view, but ours (which was at the top on the other side (216)) had a view which was largely obscured by the "VIP suite" in front. We asked to change for our last two nights (when the room became free) and the hotel management were extremely obliging and changed us without hesitation. The staff at the hotel are, without exception, delightful - friendly, helpful, efficient. We used the Spa several times and it was second to none. The massage beds are right by the sea so no need for any relaxing music with the sound of the waves lapping. There was plenty of choice for breakfast (although perhaps more for the non-Western palate) and the dinners were huge with 5 courses. We were a little disappointed to find that the wine was ridiculously expensive (cheapest bottle was about 40 euros), and this would be my only small gripe. The beer, however, was very reasonable. We stuck to the soft-drinks that are included. The desserts were particularly delicious. We will definitely go back and next time we will probably splash out a little more to stay in one of the beach-front villas as all of these had prime position. The sunsets were incredible! All-in-all, we had a marvellous stay.

Room Tip: Definitely worth splashing out for an ocean-front villa or bungalows closest to the beach & near...

We stayed here for about 4 nights of our trip, it was an extremely busy time of year (Lunar New Year) hence the lack of availability. For our first night we stayed in a standard ocean view room. We could see a small portion the ocean as the other huts to block this view. Nonetheless we had a stunning room with a beautiful bathroom and a lovely balcony. Bed was huge, room spacious, air con worked, TV worked..all in all brilliant. Bonus was that the toiletries were Elemis too!

We were then upgraded to a bungalow which had two floors and opened out onto the beach. Absolutely wonderful! Our bed was separated as it was upstairs and we had a large corner sofa and two TV's in the room. The bathroom consisted of a shower and jaccuzi bath.

We hired a scooter through the hotel too, the staff were incredibly helpful at trying to direct us to the waterfalls and other parts of the island they recommended us seeing.

Breakfast is a buffet breakfast and was a mix of Vietnamese and European/American foods. Food is decent here and we could at least trust that it was prepared in a clean environment. There was a fitness centre (which we didn't use) and from what I could see, a daycare centre for young children. The pool has a swim up bar and is central to the complex so had easy access.

Overall expensive but you get what you paid for and more with this place. We really enjoyed our stay here and staff were brilliant. It is also only 15 minutes drive to the airport!

Excellent service, very nice buffet for the breakfast.
The room was very nice, clean and comfortable.
We would recommend this hotel in Phuo Quoc
Important, be booked with Agoda to have a great rate.

Very friendly staff.

Booked this resort quiet last minute and found a great deal on Agoda which offered a sea view room with breakfast AND DINNER included! So glad we chose this resort as there wasn't much to do in Phu Quoc during the low season, but that didn't phase us as we wanted to relax by the beach and enjoy some peace before heading back to Saigon. We stayed for 6 nights in September.

ROOM:

We stayed in Bungolow I first floor and it was very nice! The room was quite large with a large screen TV, balcony space, study/make-up area, shower and bath tub. From this particular room much of the view was blocked by a palm tree directly in front, but it was still good to be able to see the sea, the pool, restaurant and gym from balcony. The tree was actually quite helpful in blocking some of the torrential rain coming into the balcony. One negative of the room was that it was near the kitchen of the restaurant, therefore the extractor fan can be quite loud when on the balcony, but it didn't bother me too much.

BEACH

The beach side of the resort was kept very clean and there was always a lifeguard on patrol, especially as the water was quite choppy at times. One morning after breakfast we saw one of the workers cleaning up the debris from the beach from the storm the night before. It was good to see that the resort really put effort in to this as elsewhere on some parts of Long Beach there was a lot of rubbish washed up.

SPA

Massages were very good and reasonably priced.

RESTAURANT and BREAKFAST

Breakfast was up to a good standard. Very good selection and there was something different offered daily along with the usual stuff.

One of the best parts to our stay was the Restaurant and the dinners that came with our room. As it was low season we were truly spoilt by the staff there. They were all very friendly and attentive and it was generally a very welcoming place to be!

The set menu we were offered (between 6pm to 9pm) came with 5 courses (1 small appetiser, soup, starter, mains, dessert) and a non-alcoholic drink. There was always something different on the menu which made us go back there everynight, even if we would go on to eat elsewhere later! The food was delicious and quite fun and creative (have a look at the 'chocolate mushroom' dessert in the pictures ive uploaded - we really loved that!). Usually the set menu would be priced at 1,400,000 VND which is very expensive for Vietnam, so if you find the deal with Dinner included make sure you get it!

They also do really good cocktails, most nights by Niem Ho, who also works most days at the poolside bar! He was very friendly and gave us advice on where to visit, not to mention making great cocktails. Try the 'Famiana' cocktail if you're heading that there! Its served in a whole pineapple!

LOCATION

There wasn't much around the direct vicinity of the resort, but most places including the night market and pearl farms are only a short taxi ride away. I went for a jog along the beach (northbound) and reached a few bars including Rory's bar within 8-10mins.

If you're looking for late nights and a lot of action you may be disappointed, but if you're like me and looking to unwind and relax, then this the place to be!

Spent eight days relaxing in this lovely resort. Ocean view room (Bungalow H, 215) was perfectly situated close to the pool, restaurant and overlooking the beach. Because it was the low season, the resort was quiet, and I was thoroughly spoilt by the staff. They were all young, happy and ready to help at any time. I loved that I was greeted by name each time I went to the pool or restaurant.

I was looking for somewhere private, up market and relaxing, after a very stressful month in Saigon, and Famiana ticked every box.

The facilities are excellent and it was easy to laze away whole days watching the fishing boats, swimming laps in the pool, or just swinging idly, reading a book in one of the numerous pod chairs that hang in the gardens.

I was delighted to see the staff having English lessons during the quiet part of the day, an indication of the commitment of the management to ongoing training and improvement. Well done!

I hope to return soon, next time with my family. Thanks!

We stayed in a beach villa for three nights. The villa was nice and clean, 5 meters from the ocean. We stayed here with discount but still payed around 160$ per night.

- the English of the staff is terrible. Makes it very hard to communicate. Awkward moments when taking towels to the beach or difficulties explaining we do not have hot water.
- televisions in the villa responded to each others remote. Made watching TV very annoying since we had to get up multiple times to turn the other TV off
- Breakfast was great lots of choices
- restaurant wasn't great, only expensive western food, not very well prepared
- had to take a taxi everywhere
- pool area is nice
- spa was decent, but again, hard to communicate in English

It seems this resort is a great choice for Vietnamese tourists but not very much for westerners
