Savuti was our second of two Wilderness Safari camps, after a blissful 2 days at Xigera. Savuti had a lot of competition to live up to the perfect days at Xigera, and they came very close. As others have written, first class from touch down at the run way, to departure. We saw the wild dogs both days, one day resting (just about 15 feet from our jeep) and we followed them on a hunt the second day. The most compelling moment was seeing the dogs greet each other after the kill, share the meat, giving us a peek at their amazing social structure. It was simply moving and we are grateful to Lets, our knowledgeable guide, for helping us experience that moment in nature.

- Experience “the Vanishing River” that reappeared! Savuti Camp is located right on the Savute Channel, which for many years was dry, a wide-open ribbon of grassland snaking through the adjoining woodland. In 2008, the waters returned, and abundant game has congregated and adapted in its wake. Savuti Camp is elevated off the ground, thus taking front row seats to view the results of the amazing transformation of the resurgent Savute Channel. A thatched dining area, plunge pool and large viewing deck with fire pit extend outwards on raised wooden decks over the waters.HighlightsExploring the length of the Savute Channel and its associated woodlands is a highlight here. Game concentrations are high, particularly in the winter dry season, and apart from elephant and plains game, species such as zebra, roan, giraffe, lion, leopard and wild dog may also be encountered. 7 Tents (including 1 Family Tent): En-suite; spacious canvas-and-thatch walk-in tentsExperiences: Day and night game drives Guided nature walks (on request) Game viewing hides Boating and canoe excursions (seasonal) ... more less
