“Birthday Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Location was first hard to find with the GPS. Great location for day trips. Food was the best. Staff did all they could to make our stay one to remember. Visited the winey and tasted both the local White and Red. Bathroom was a little small. We stayed 5 days.

Situated in the middle of nowhere you gond this pleasant agroturismo. It is actually a converted steel factory. The service is very good and you really feel like Bering welcommed. We were the only guests but they started preparing the dinner anyway and we had some very nice tuscan dishes among them bistechia fiorentina. Also the wine list contained some excellent reds.

hi all. don't get me wrong, there is almost nothing to dislike about this hotel. unfortunatly there are very few thing that would make me go back.
we went there, attracted to the pics of the beautiful building and the good reviews about the kitchen and staff.
i have to say, the building is beautiful, the staff is great and the immediate surroundings are awesome, lovely swimming pool in a great garden.
so far the positive news.
maybe we've been spoiled by other agritourisms (le terre dei cavalieri in Cortona, camino piccollo in montefalco) and country houses (antico borgo in arcevia) but we found the food very overrated. it wasn't bad, but it lacked some character and sometimes some taste.
the rooms were addequate, but not more then that : small bathroom, mini shower, not a lot of room to store clothes, not even a small fridge etc.
around the hotel there was very little to see (exept beautiful nature), the closest town where you have a choice of restaurants and shops was about 35 km away, so dining elsewhere was really a task, especially if you consider the rural roads (so : no wine at diner for the driver).
thankfully, they have a very enthousiastic staff (but some knowledge of other language then italian would be nice).
in all : not bad, but you can find better for similar money. if you want to try : be my guest, you won't get too disappointed, but i think if you try one of the other adresses i mentioned, you'll be better off.

This is a peaceful place in a remote rural location, one of the best agritourismos we have stayed in. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the meals cooked on the outside oven. The Villetta has is own winery and olives and their wine - Pian di Seta complemented the food beautifully.

We had 3 nights here in the Torre room (bedroom and downstairs lounge). It was wonderful. The location is so quiet and the gardens are lovely. We saw a hare loping across the grass. Nightingales sing in the woods at night and the stars are so clear.
The staff: Gabriele the manager, Fabrizio, Samantha and the wonderful chefs - are all delightful. The evening meal and local wine are excellent for dinner. Also make sure that you eat at Il Ghiotto too 10 mins down the road at Cannetto - Tuscan homecooking at its best. The bistecca alla Fiorentina is amazing !

We’ve stayed in Villetta for 2 weeks at the end of August 2011 and I can say without any doubt that it was one of the most beautiful holidays we’ve ever had. It was the only holiday in which we managed to put three distinct elements together:

• We stayed in a serene and innocent montaneous region
• We went to the seaside
• We saw very much art.

All these made our holiday be….wonderful. I have to confess that everywhere I was, visiting places during this holiday, I could hardly wait to get back to Villetta, to the tranquility, fragrances and peacefulness I could always find there. This place really offers you absence of references to time, while the sweet smell of wild flowers, pinetrees and the taste of blackberries made my senses return to the years of childhood.

Villetta is the perfect choice for families with children or for people who enjoy silence, reading and the retreat from the speed of modern life. Rooms are clean, ceilings high, beds very comfortable, the garden immense and green, and the stuff really nice.

As for the food, we were surprised everytime, for 14 evenings, by the fine and tasty menu.

The only minus is the countryside road, from the main street to Villetta, of 2 kilometres long, which is unpaved and makes the car really dusty. But this drawback can be easily solved by carwash :)

Congratulations to the team who make tourists feel excellent in this marvellous place. Villetta di Monterufoli is one of Tuscany’s hidden jewel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter

This agriturismo was delightful. First, we needed a place for only one night that accepted a dog traveler as well. Apparently, that is a rare find in agriturismos. It was located about two kilometers up a gravel road where you finally approach the old lignite mine train station. It is a beautiful old building that is very suited to its use as comfortable dining and sleeping accommodations. Our dinner was the finest we enjoyed in Italy. We feasted on a beautiful antipasti plate with homemade cinghale (wild boar) sausage and pecorino cheese, followed by a delicious risotto with zucchini. We then savored roasted pork with the best roasted potatoes in the world. They offered us an extra course of some cinghale specially prepared. It was delicious. The dessert was a typical Tuscan roulade-style cake made with fresh berries. The wine for the evening was made on the estate and we followed our meal with some amazing coffee and Brunello di Montepulciano grappa. It was a lovely meal that we shared with some Italian friends we hadn't seen in 20 years - an evening made to remember.
Breakfast was a basic buffet - and again the coffee was fantastic.
Our service there was warm and smiling.
