“Beautiful peaceful getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Charming resort with cute typical country Cypriot architecture buildings, excellent service, smiling and polite staff, beautiful mountain scenery, excellent spa facilities, where else can you rest and relax?
Our first floor room with mountain and pool area view was just perfect in any aspect, at a fair value. Artistic and tasteful dishes, despite the fact that the duck was by mistake just a bit more cooked close to well done than medium for my taste and order, but overall it was OK.
Need for showing the way to the resort from Paphos to Polis road earlier and not at the last 50m, be careful the turn is hidden behind trees.

Room Tip: Just ask opposite the pool on the first floor

We stayed in a resort room which had no bathtub or shower basin. We had to take our shower on the floor with an ensuing mess. The room was on the ground floor and looked out to the carpark and smelled strongly of mould. The amenities in the room were poor as it has been pointed out by others. No rerfrigerator, no tea and coffee making facilities, no bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast is nice and fresh but the waiting ladies were very rude. In general this is an impersonal hotel and the staff do not try to make you welcome. Prices are exorbitant. They charge 6.50 euro for half a litre of local beer and 4.50 euro for an espresso! Needless to say the bar is empty. We were there two years ago and I remember having a conversation with the manager who told me that there was no fridge or kettle in the rooms as they wanted guests to use the bar. Well, even though the hotel is in the middle of the wilderness people do not use the bar which is always empty and miserable. Maybe if they charged more reasonably people would get out of their rooms and have a drink.

We recently came back from the Ayii Anargyri Natural Healing Spa in the hills not far from Polis. We hired a car, which is a must, as the hotel is in the hills about 30 minutes from Paphos airport. This hotel is actually closer to Polis than Paphos, which is a good thing as Paphos has really changed over the years and is a little bit like 'Little Brighton on Med'. As far as value for money is concerned, we booked our flights and hotel separately and not as a package. This saved us about £500 for the six nights. The hotel only price was fantastic and not expensive. The hotel is great as there are no children allowed. The Health Spa attached to the hotel is fab and the treatments are very reasonable. The staff in the hotel and spa are very friendly and I cannot understand some of the previous reviews and comments made. The absence of tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge did not matter and I do not agree with the previous comments. The driving is easy and the roads are a lot of fun especially when in the hills and off the main roads. The villages in the area are very interesting and a visit to the monastery Pano Panagia is a must, We hired a boat from Latchi Watersports Centre but beware of the the excess on their insurance if you happen to cause any damage. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing, quality break in great surroundings, no children and great food. I will be revisiting with some girlfriends.

The Hotel is in general a good hotel. The service of the staff is helpful and friendly. Breakfast is very good with a good variety of food. The room was clean and tidy. The view in our room (7) was not very spectacular. We had a room on the groundfloor with a poor view on the opposite mountain. The terrace was a little bit small. The amenities in the rooms are very poor. We couldn't make coffee or tea in the room. A minibar was not available. For a four class hotel as they pretend is this a must. Beside of those things, it is a good accommodation to stay for a holliday.

The Hotel in general is very good. I'm not very sure about the value for the money you actually pay.

I was there for a weekend with my boyfriend celebrating his birthday. When I got there and I gave my name in the reception for them to find my booking they didn't find it, and I had actually booked it two weeks in advance. I had the confirmation email, and the staff told me "don't worry, we have rooms this weekend" had there not been free rooms (cause this was the first weekend off season) we would have got to go to find another hotel nearby.

Luckily, There was no more problem with the reservation and the reservation I had previously made at the spa was correct. The Spa is very nice, with a great atmosphere, architecture and view. The treatments are very diverse and good, the staff in the spa is completely nice and with a very good attitude and service.

The food in the restaurant is very tasty and the service is good as well. The only thing is that they barely have amenities in the rooms, not even coffee or a mini bar to get something to eat in case you get hungry after the restaurant closes. I was ordering room service 40 minutes before the closing time and they were a bit reluctant to take my order at first, after they took it they were quite fast to bring it into the room. I think they could improve the service a lot.

Other than these details, the hotel is super nice, as well as the atmosphere. It's worth it to go for a weekend and it would be even better if the hotel staff took care of these details so nobody has a bad expierience at such a good spot.

Having read some pretty dire reviews of the resort before our planned travel date, I'd hoped to be able to change hotels but was told by the tour operator it was too late to cancel or amend our booking. So - we arrived with some trepidation. I needn't have been concerned as the level of service offered was nothing less than superb. The staff couldn't have been more helpful , charming and pleased to provide the guests with anything that was required - including one of their own jumpers when the temperature dipped in the evening. They really went beyond the call of duty and are a credit to the resort. The standard of accommodation was fabulous - spotlessly clean with beautiful views. The food was plentiful, well cooked and presented - again, I really couldn't fault. My only recommendation would be for the resort to provide tea/coffee making facilities in the room along with a stocked mini bar. Apart from this, absolutely perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I will look forward to my return..

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to a dream – a dream that unfolded in 1983. We cordially invite you to steep yourself within a vision that will bring relaxation, health, well-being and no little luxury. In the spring of 2009 Ayii Anargyri Spa resort opened its doors and present the world with a sublime experience. Set in a valley of mature trees, the resort offers a unique retreat, a place of profound calm and the opportunity to enjoy the health-giving waters which have benefited visitors for so many years. This boutique hotel with accommodation for 150 guests in Suites or Classic rooms, has dedicated spa facilities in the grounds, a generous swimming pool and conference facilities for 50 people. Cuisine from locally grown produce will reveal all that is best in traditional Cypriot fare – food that is garden fresh, nutritious, flavorsome. The hotel provides the means to benefit from the time-tested remedies of the mineral rich waters which flow here – but there is so much more. An abundance of scenic attractions will delight any nature lover. Also outdoor pursuits like cycling, walking and bird watching are just a few other possibilities to make your stay a tonic for body and mind. History of healing: The Spa was first formally opened in 1649 by two brothers, Cosmas and Damianos. Their generosity in offering treatment often without thought of reward gave rise to the name Anargyri – without silver. They became known and loved locally for their selfless acts and affectionately known as saints. In the 19th century the waters were properly analyzed and did indeed contain health-giving minerals. Now the new luxury spa will offer a variety of treatment rooms and therapies many involving the sulphur water which rises naturally nearby in this tranquil setting. Ayii Anargyri has something unique. From the Cyprus hillside, a mineral-rich spring carries the soothing waters renowned for generations for their healing qualities. This remarkable stream has been channeled to the new spa where it is combined in numerous treatments now advanced by modern science. The waters are beneficial for joint or muscle discomfort and some circulatory problems. The therapies are natural and non invasive. ... more   less
