“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

This review is a bit late - my wife and I stayed here in May 2012 for our wedding anniversary. Trip from the airport was sort of exciting. We decided to go with a regular taxi rather than a hotel shuttle. Driver was nice but took back roads the whole way through sugar cane fields. It was bumpy to say the least! When we got out of shaky cab and walked into the lobby of the hotel, it was like paradise. Check-in was easy, served rum punch and shown to our room.

View from the balcony was stunning. Beach was perfect. The pool was very nice but we didn't swim in it once as the beach was so perfect. The food was a little bit of a hassle. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times and the food ranged from adequate to very good. There are a few restaurants you can walk to that are pretty good but it can feel like a hike in the heat, with cars whizzing by you. Taxis are easy but it's very expensive to get around the island.

We did one of the island jeep tours which was a lot of fun. On Friday night we took a public bus down to Oistins which was an adventure also. The bus took forever - a bit over an hour to get there. The scene was very cool - tons of food vendors, a DJ and locals selling crafts. We thought it was very cool how the tourists blended with the local people. Everyone was very friendly. Decided to take a taxi back from there late at night because we couldn't deal with that bus again and it was about $45 (opposed to $4 for the bus).

So, all in all it was a great trip and a great hotel. The staff were all very nice and helpful. I'm not sure if we'll return to Barbados again because there are other places we want to see, but if we do I would definitely stay here again.

“AMAZING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

Right on a basically private beach. Crystal clear, calm warm water. Swim with the turtles everyday. A floating barge is right off the beach for diving or relaxing. The hotel rents snorkel gear, kayaks Stand up paddle boards, sailboats etc all for free! The staff are the most friendly people ever. I do not see how you could stay anywhere else in Barbados. Every room at the hotel is overlooking the ocean. Can't get much better than that. Very close to great restaurants, shopping and bars. I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Every room overlooks the ocean. Doesn't matter which one you get.

“barbados on the beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

Just got back from 3 day in Barbados at the Fairmont. The minute we arrived we were checked in by a personal concierge who handled all the paperwork as we drank a complimentary rum sour. The room was right on the beach and was of good size with all the amenities we needed. Al the non motorized water sport equipment was available at no charge, ie snorkeling, kayaks, and more. 2 on site restaurants and bars and nice size pool. There is a great restaurant just a short walk down the beach " Lone Star", Don't miss out on a sunset catamaran ride! Would stay again !!

Room Tip: Small property, you either get a 1st floor suite that actually opens to the beach, or a 2nd or 3rd f...

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

My husband and I spent 9 nights at this lovely hotel. The location of this hotel is one of the best, next to a small beach, near Holetown for shopping and near all the excellent restaurants that you just need to visit while on the island.
The hotel is quite small and feels very friendly. The staff are very helpful and always remember your name. The pool area, restaurant for breakfast and lunch and the beach are very close to each other making the resort cosy and intimate. The bedrooms are very spacious and have good storage and are well appointed.
The only downside was the evening entertainment. The two evenings we stayed at the hotel for dinner the entertainment finished at 10.30pm. The bar is empty by 10.30pm and the rersort is dead. Guests appear to retire to their rooms very early and rise very early.
We will definately retuen to this hotel.

Room Tip: The suites are all on the ground floor and give you access to the beach. The other rooms are exactly...

“Great property, great service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed here for only four nights but had a great experience! Rooms were roomy and were kept spotless by the housekeeping staff. All rooms face the ocean and there is the constant sound of the waves crashing on the beach, whether you are eating, sleeping or sitting by the pool. We are here during the off season, so the prices are reasonable. Good luck trying to find a cheap hotel or restaurant on this section of the island. There is a reason they call this the Platinum coast. If you can afford it, this is the place to be!

Room Tip: First floor suites are great - but expensive!
