“A Hidden Gem”

In over 40 years of traveling, my husband and I have stayed in wonderful properties, but have never returned two years in a row...until we went to Colony Club. This very intimate property intrigued me last year when I visited the website and saw photos of lush grounds and lovely pools, not to mention the tree-lined beach. We read that this is not a property for those who like lots of night-life, and this is correct. However, if you want a property with A+ service, good food, and an assortment of complimentary options, including a wonderful island tour or paddle boarding, this is the place for you. Beds are very firm with large comfy pillows. Our deluxe ocean view room included a table with two chairs plus a double bed with pillows on which to relax. The view of the ocean was great. The majority of the guests here are from Great Britain. There were a handful of guests from the USA. If given the chance, I would love to return for a third visit.

Room Tip: The deluxe ocean view rooms offer wonderful views. The deluxe pool rooms offer swim out opportuniti...

Three of us went for a week to this wonderful hotel. I am pretty choosy, but I could not fault the hotel at all. Staff went the extra mile all the time to make sure we were happy - and we were. If you are thinking of going - go! you wont be disappointed. But beware of taking a trip to their sister hotel - not up to the high standard of the Colony Club,

Room Tip: near the beach suited us well

Spent 5 nights here in February.
From the moment we walked-in we felt welcome. The staff are professional and the rooms are comfortable (but in need of refurbishment). We asked for a new mattress as the original was a bit lumpy. This was changed with no fuss within the hour.
The restaurant in the hotel is also very good (similar quality to The Tides) and was only let down by one grumpy waitress.
The beach (the main reason for the stay) is clean and well served by the beach staff who go out of their way to make you feel relaxed.
All in all a nice relaxing stay... at a price!
NB - if you need to use wifi, avoid the rooms near the tennis courts - the signal doesn't stretch that far

Great location with secluded and shaded pool area. Good water sport facilities and excellent food ,at a price.! Do try the bait and plate fishing trip, not many fish but plenty of laughs. Also free Hobie cats are easy to sail and loads of fun.

Whilst the hotel was quiet (mainly due to being just after half term hols) most of the other stayers were 60+, we didn't mind this as you could easily get a table in restaurant and sunbeds each day. The staff were so kind and helpful, they could not do enough to help you. Lots of lovely touches, fruit, ice-lollys and drinks brought to your sunbed. I would recommend the Sunday lunch buffet and the Tuesday night beach BBQ (although quite pricey, so go hungry). Our room was super, confused about reading some of the other reviews saying hotel in need of refurbishment, we saw no signs of this and we had a garden view room which is one of the cheapest. Great location for walking to Holetown about 10mins distance. We would without question stay in this hotel again!

My sister and I have just returned from a relaxing week's break at the Colony Club. This was our third stay at the hotel, and although over the years I have stayed at other properties in Barbados, the Colony Club is by far the best. It really does tick all the boxes, from the rum punch on arrival, the high quality spacious accommodation, the beautiful gardens with its lagoon pools and the excellent beach. The hotel is approximately 15 minutes' walk from Holetown with its shops, bars and restaurants, alternatively there is the reggae bus which is just $2BDS and great fun! As we were only there for a week we did not participate in any of the watersports - particularly as the sea was quite rough some days, but will definitely do so next time. We enjoyed the Friday morning garden tour and would highly recommend this, it was really interesting even if you are not into gardening. We ate out most evenings, apart from our arrival evening (too tired to venture out) and the last night - Manager's Cocktail Party and Beach barbecue/buffet which was really excellent and would highly recommend, even if you are not staying in the hotel, it is worth making a reservation. We were upgraded to a junior suite, room 308, which being on a high floor had lovely views and a large balcony with 2 sun loungers and a table/4 chairs which we used every day. Quite a lot of stairs so definitely not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. Plenty of sun loungers on the beach and by the pools and the offerings of sorbets, ice creams and iced grapes were very welcome. Also the jugs of iced water (complete with lemon slices) by our pool were very welcome on a hot day. Another strong point was the availability of beach towels at different points around the hotel, no searching high and low to find a hut 100 yards along a beach etc.... We dined at Spago, Cariba, the Sandpiper, Lonestar and Daphnes. Daphnes was by far the best, followed by the Lonestar (which has greatly upped its game since our last visit 4 years ago when the service, food quality and general attitude were very disappointing). The Sunday evening buffet at the Sandpiper was a huge disappointment, the same price as the Colony Club buffet but not nearly as good, poor value for money. The hotel also offers a free trip to St. Nicholas Abbey and Huntes Gardens every Wednesday. We would have loved to have taken this trip but unfortunately we arrived/departed on a Wednesday so it was not possible. Finally, we appreciated the availability of taxis at the hotel, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes, this was a real bonus. I would also like to thank Carl the driver who looked after us most evenings and drove us to the airport on Wednesday, he was fantastic and I would highly recommend him and suggest that you look out for him. To summarise: the Colony Club is a beautiful hotel with lovely gardens on a fantastic beach. All rooms are well located and face the sea or the gardens. The service is excellent and wi fi is now available and free throughout the hotel. We definitely plan to return.

Room Tip: All of the rooms face the sea or the pools/gardens so if you are on a budget it is not worth upgradi...

We stayed a the Colony Club for 5 nights in February as a couple. It is a gorgeous place, the pools, gardens and beach are all exceptionally clean and pretty and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We had a problem with our toilet which was immediately seen to, and the staff on reception were always willing to help with reservations etc.
We had a lovely room on the first floor overlooking the pool and beach, and the best bit was a full sized double bed on the balcony which you could laze on to read, listen to the sea, or some evenings listen to the musical entertainment below our balcony.
The Sunday brunch steel band on the day we went home was a perfect end to the holiday.
The boys in the watersports were really great and had we known we could have we would have learnt to sail the catamarans. They took us to see the Turtles and snorkel on the wreck as well as a speedboat trip up the coast and ringo-ing.
Oistins was a nice evening out, although I wish the jetlag could have allowed us to stay up later as it was just hotting up when we were so tired we had to leave.
Would thoroughly recommend 'the Fish Pot' for lunch. Absolutely fabulous setting, lovely food, and a cabana style bed area to relax and let your food (and Rum Punch!) go down while looking out to sea.
We can't wait to get away there again

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are lovely, we were on an upper floor which I think is better as you can relax on...
