“Beautiful Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We chose Turtle Beach as our wedding venue after much deliberation - it ticked all the boxes! We travelled as a family - My partner, my son (aged 11) and myself... we were joined in the second week by my partner's parents.

We were very apprehensive once we'd booked, as organising everything remotely is fine, but you don't really know what to expect! We needn't have worried, as I was in direct contact with the Wedding co-ordinator, Kinda, at the hotel. She was very patient and able to answer all my questions, which really put my mind at ease!

Our check-in, overseen by Tara, was quick and easy, with a lovely rum punch served while we did the formalities. Nigel, the concierge was extremely helpful - even if there was a question he didn't know the answer to, he would find out for you! Our room (418) was a lovely size and, although in need of a refurb, still offered everything we needed to make our stay special. The balcony was the best part, with a fantastic view, it also had an extended sun terrace, which we used for relaxing most afternoons.

The maid serviced our room every day, quickly and efficiently - everything was always topped up/changed and items were never forgotten.

In our check-in pack, we were kept up to date with the itinerary for the week in terms of entertainment and which restaurants were offering what on different nights. We got into the habit of booking our evening meal at breakfast, having checked the menus on display, and never had an issue reserving a table.

The egg stations at breakfast were great - fried, poached, boiled, or omelettes - however you wanted them! The usual continental or full English options were available in buffet style and there was also a self service waffle station, which I didn't try as it looked a bit tricky for first thing in the morning! The restaurant staff are lovely and are constantly serving iced water, tea or coffee, and alcoholic drinks later in the day.

Lunch is also very nice, as is afternoon tea - all served buffet style, we were always spoilt for choice. It was nice to see the staff sticking to the rules and not seating people who were soaking wet with only beach towels wrapped round them - why do people think this is ok? It takes five minutes to dry off and slip on something suitable! The restaurant themed nights were good and the entertainment varied. All the staff are pleasant and cannot do enough for you - even the quieter ones are lovely, if you make the effort to engage with them!

The beach is amazing and Captain Sam and his team really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The waves here are great for boogie boarding, sailing, etc, but may be a bit rough for younger children. The pools are only a few steps from the beach if you fancy a relaxing swim, so don't let the surf put you off!

Now for the wedding! Although I initially liaised with Kinda, Sinead actually took care of us once we arrived - she had read all my emails and we had a meeting to go over our requests and the details of the ceremony. We were then sent into Bridgetown by prepaid taxi to obtain our marriage licence. This took around an hour and we were back at the hotel in no time, ready to hit the beach! We also had a meeting with the Reverend beforehand and he was very nice - having met us, he was able to incorporate personal aspects of our family life into the ceremony, which, for me, really gave it more meaning.

We booked Colorbox Photography to take photos and a video, which we got to take home with us, so no waiting weeks for albums, etc, was nice! They did a great job - we are not natural posers, so had their work cut out!

On the day I had my hair and make-up done by Kay in the hotel salon. She did a fantastic job (I hadn't had a trial) and I am so pleased I made the booking rather than trying to do it myself!

Sinead did an amazing job of putting everything together - she decorated the pergoda and cake (rum and chocolate!) table beautifully and arranged our flowers with a local florist, who we were also very pleased with. The ceremony went perfectly - it was simple, as there were only 5 of us present, but it was exactly how we wanted it and we have some great memories, never to be forgotten. So, thank you to everyone who contributed to our day!

Sorry this review has been so long winded, but when I booked there wasn't much personal information on the wedding side of things, so thought I should elaborate!

We have been to Turtle beach twice in the last 2 years. We have 4 young children and this is the closest thing you can get to a holiday for kids, without kids! The kids club is amazing, and the staff brilliant, and the kids actually want to go there most of the time. This leaves the grown ups free to enjoy the amazing service at Turtle Beach. The staff are friendly and happy, the all inclusive means just that, everything is included apart from champaign. The beach does have surf most of the time as it is on the southern coast of the island. So if you're looking for flat sea, then you will need to travel out of the resort.

In terms of the rooms, we had an ocean view junior suite which are very spacious and the views are spectacular. The A\C was in good working order so we were always comfortable.

The main thing that strikes you about this hotel is the staff. From the guys a the bell desk, to the team at the watersports shack, you will not be allowed to lift a finger! They are absolutely great.

I cant recommend Turtle Beach Highly enough and we will definitely be going back in the next couple of years.

Room Tip: The ground floor suites around the pool may sometimes get a little annoying wth people sunbathing di...

After going to Barbados for our honeymoon, we decided to return with our kids and chose the Turtle Beach Resort. It was perfect place for the kids as well as us. The property was spotless, the food was excellent and the service was outstanding. It defines what I thought a high end all inclusive should be. The staff was so friendly and accommodating willing to do anything to make our trip memorable. After a few days, many of the Staff knew us by name. The Kids Club was amazing with plenty of activities for the kids that gave the kids and parents a nice break. We felt very comfortable leaving our kids there. We feel the biggest compliment to this place is the number of returned guests which we will now include ourselves hopefully next year. It's simply Paradise.

Room Tip: The 1 Bedroom Suite is perfect for 2 adults and kids that gives you 2 rooms. It's worth the ext...

We stayed at Turtle Beach this past week, our first time in Barbados, and had a very enjoyable stay. It is a fairly short trip from the airport which is always something we appreciate.
We were booked in room 136 which was a great location - very close to the pool, beach and restaurants. You could hear the performers from there at night but while we were there, it was over by 10pm which isn't late so not a bother at all. The room itself was very clean, a decent size with a nice patio. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Shout out to Ryan, who was fun to hang out with at the bar :)
We found the food to be very good. There are 3 restaurants, 2 of which are usually offered for dinner with reservations. I'd have to say our favorite was probably Asiagos but the Waterfront was good as well. Breakfast and lunch were buffets with a good variety offered. The pumpkin fritters for breakfast were absolutely delicious!
We didn't take advantage of any activities - just did a lot of relaxing. It was a very serene, quiet atmosphere which I found to be pleasant. However if you're looking for a bit more action, just keep that in mind. There are no swim up bars so it was pretty much up to you to get a drink from the bar since there weren't really too many staff members taking drink orders - this was a bit of a disappointment to us.
The gym is small but kept very clean and has ample equipment, including a punching bag, for exercising during vacation.
The beach was gorgeous with waves that were pretty rough. A few of our days there, red flags were out signaling no swimming for anyone due to dangerous conditions. There was an abundance of chairs available on the beach and I believe all had their own little umbrella for some shade. We always got to choose where we wanted to sit at the pool. I don't think they were at full capacity while we were there.
There is free wifi throughout the resort which I think is something all hotels should offer these days and a fabulous amenity. I really appreciated that with the events that happened in Boston while we were there. Since we are from the Northeast, it was good to be able to keep up on the events as they happened as well as touch base with family and friends.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Turtle Beach and would recommend it to others.

Well, what a wonderful holiday. We have not been on a 'package' tour since before we were married, being independent travellers. Never been to Barbados before so chose all in as we wanted to be looked after - and boy, were we. Wonderful staff, brilliant service - our glasses were never empty and they were cheerful and courteous throughout. The food was super (and himself is a terribly fussy boy). Particularly recommend the Bajan BBQ and the duck at Chinola. Fish galore and so much choice. I did read the negative comments before hand and did have a few concerns but, no need. All staff and every one fromvendors to air port staff were most concerned that we left with a good impression of the island, and we did. So much so that we will return. Downsides? Well, the air con in our room was quite fierce, seemingly stuck on turbo but that's a minor prob abd will be cured on updating. The 4th floor is being refurb now as of 8 to 17 April so we we only ones on that floor. Nice and peaceful BUT it meant that we got forgotten for cleaning 2 days of the 10 we were there, forgiven and easily and efficiently dealt with on commenting on it - we were gently chided that we should have mentioned it before but hey, it was no biggie. Yes the sea is rough, no swimming really but you have the pools and recommend going to Pebbles Beach and the Barbados cruising club to swim and imbibe the microbrewery beer and cutters. Well worth the (negotiable) taxi fare for the day. Try to get Samuel Small, he will give impromptue free tour of the island On the way back to the hotel. Punctual pick up and good company.

You MUST do the swimming with turtles. Go with the crew from Good Times. Excellent value and they do the turtles first with lunch later. Small groups, great chaps and a lasting memory of our trip even for a nervous swimmer like me who felt entirely safe the whole time. Now saving up to go again next year.

One last thing. Do not go with Virgin. Flight out ok, cabin crew very entertaining yet still professional. Return overnight flight entirely different story. Bunch of rank amateurs who didn't know their a from their elbow and spent flight chatting amongst themselves. Will go BA next time.

Go to Turtle Beach, you'll have a great time. X

Room Tip: We were on 4th floor main building - you can see the beach from all rooms, entertainment 'noise...

We stayed at the Turtle beach between April 1st and 8th 2013. We were greeted and looked after by Tara. This was our first All inclusive holiday and we were unsure of what to expect! No worries though - the food and service were really great, 2 a la carte restaurants and a buffet restaurant too. Plenty of choice for all whether you want to indulge or eat healthily. Good quality alcoholic and soft drinks, Barbados water is good, very refreshing.
Room - Lovely, very clean, well decorarated with comfortable beds, we had a fantastic sea view, air con included and a very clean marble bathroom.
Beautiful beach - white sands, turquoise sea, blue sky, palm trees, water sports, sunloungers, lovely soft beach towels. Red flags for bathing were up up some the time, but that didn't spoil our enjoyment. drinks bought to us - a wonderful service.
Two pools and a jaccuzzi. Plenty of sunlougers around the pool.
Had a manicure and pedicure in the Spa :)
Internet Cafe for our 15 year old to him in touch with the world!
Kids club for younger children - very popular, some of the children cried to go back in. There is a lovely park with swings etc in the garden of the hotel.
St Lawrence gap about 10 or so minutes walk away - bars and music. Go see!
Town of Oistins a few minutes walk - Friday Fish bake night, mingle with islands friendly locals.
The hotel will be pleased to help arrange excurssions, we took a catamaran out to the west of the island to swin and snorkel with the Turtles and fish, we had lunch on board, a wonderful day.
We took a Jeep Tour from the hotel around the island, lunch included at the Turtles sister hotel The Sugar Cane Club, a great way to see key sights.
It did rain a couple of times briefly, temperatures were between 28 and 30 with a cooling breeze - again perfect.
Staff are very friendly, attentive and hospitable. Met some lovely people holidaying there too!
Hope to return to the Turtle Beach Hotel again.
Total relax and chill out and the Bajan's are warm hearted people. Take it easy - your in Barbados.

Room Tip: Choose on Ocean View Suite on the beach front - gorgeous!
