My husband and I stayed at LGH in the 2 bedroom Fort Suite for 5 nights begining January 20th. My husband and I are in the hotel business so when we get away we like to have our privacy and we had it here. We also like for things to be "easy" - meaning that you do not have to jump through hoops to relax and have a good time. The staff here was very helpful . They pretty much left you alone unless you needed something, then they were right there to help book tours, reservations and give recommendations. Graham, the manager, was very helpful and friendly and we would always see him around checking on everything.
Check in was easy we just pulled up in our cab at the restaurant, someone came out and asked us our name and they took us right to our cottage - no lines. The cotttage has the best views of the ocean I have ever seen. The Fort Suite is located on the second floor of the restaurant right on the water. At night during high tide the water hits the building - you are that close! It is nicely furnished with air conditioning in both bedrooms and a private terrace with a covered area for dining that is right on the water. Houskeeping was very good.
The beach was just large enough and it was never crowded. They put out beach chairs and umbrellas each morning and the very comfortable beach cabanas (they have 3) were never full. There are no vendors on that beach to bother you and it is right next to the restaurant so you can order drinks from bar.
The restaurant was very good and popular and you need to have reservations for lunch and dinner. The manager was very helpful and always took our reservation even if it was last minute. They prepare everything to order so on a couple of occasions the food did take a while. It was worth the wait as the seafood was extremely fresh and well prepared. Their wine list was reasonably priced compared to other restaurants on the island and had a good selection of wines from France, USA, and Australia. We also ate at The Lone Star and The Tides both of which had excellent service, food and atmosphere - they were expensive.
We went on a couple of tours - Cool Runnings Catamaran was excellent as was the Island Safari Tour of the East Coast and interior of the island.
I would definitely have the hotel arrange transportation from the airport otherwise you might have to wait in a long line for a cab.
We loved Barbados and LGH and will absolutely go back as soon as we can.
