“A Gem that will not disappoint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

One night stay in December and wish we could have stayed longer. We have beautiful junior suite and according to my wife the best dinner of our entire month in Morocco. All women staff who were very kind and helpful putting up with our very limited French and meeting every request with a smile. They emailed us driving instructions, complete with photos and with the assistance of a young man on a moped we found this quiet and wonderful place.

One night stay as part of our tour, after spending the night in the desert. Garden-like feel, large public areas with lots of greenery. Large room that was clean and had a very cozy feel ,with shuttered windows that opened to the the walkway facing the courtyard. Large bathroom with wonderful shower. Arranged for an onsite hammam, scrub, and massage for myself and my fiance' on short notice in the evening, and the request was promptly accommodated. Nice dinner setting, although dinner not particularly special. Do think the charge for a bottle of wine was on the high side (about $30.00), compared to what I paid elsewhere in Morocco, but I understand that Taroudant is not a place one can buy alcohol locally so perhaps that explains the reason for the price. Breakfast adequate, nothing special. Must give a thumbs up to the rather young french-speaking front desk employee that bent over backwards to struggle through the language barrier (as I don't speak Arabic or French). Nice pool and pool area, and jacuzzi, which we didn't use but looked inviting. This is a place worth staying at, but I believe dinner choice could be better made elsewhere. Final note - as we were driven to this location by our guide / driver, can't comment on whether the location is hard to find or good or bad. But, would be worth seeking out (and is in the medina).

very happy to read your warm but meticulous comment.
thanks for these one, .
As regards of the menu, I make an inquiry ; when your agency do the reservation they didn't ask for a special Christmas menu as done for some of our guest.
Your was a pumpkin cream followed by Kefta and vegetable tagine and as desert a custard pie.
Due to your late arrival and also the lot of dish to be prepared these special night it was difficult for the "little" Mery, the cook, to improvize a special menu at your convenience .
Nevertheless she tell me that you enjoy the menu.
She hope you will excuse her for these small disappointment, she is a so talented cooker.
About wine price the one you order is at 19 € rate, close to 25 $, please consider that is is very hard to have wine in south Morocco, and frequently riad didn't furnish wine.
We have to go to Agadir to buy our alccol.
All the team thanks you for the reactions and comments .
It will be a pleasure to host again in Taroudant.

Arriving in the dark driving into Taroudant after driving over the Tizi n Test looking for the hotel almost was a disaster. Luckily an old guy on a bicycle volunteered to show us where it was and so we tailed him. It was in a little street in the heart of the city - behind a grim and dingy entrance. But it was worth the search. There is a gorgeous courtyard with palm trees, a large cold pool and plenty of loungers. we were served sweetmeats and juice when we arrived. The all female staff were very friendly. Our room was fantastic - large and comfortable though the mattresses were very hard. There was a bathroom with an open shower and a strange little toilet in a closet. Plenty of cupboards and excellent shower gel; however they never replaced the towels during our 3 day stay.Breakfast was plentiful with good Moroccan breads. We ate dinner twice - 3 course meals for16 Euros. The first night the grilled lamb cutlets were very tough but the chicken couscous the next was terrific, even though we had to remove the bits beef from it (we had told the hotel we don't eat beef). Overall though a great place to stay and they have parking. But prepared to get lost and do a lot of walking

Thanks for your comment,
reading some remarks I talk with my manager about it and I would like to answer to theses ones
1 it's hard to find our guesthouse;
of course, we are in a verry old medina not in London
2 the mattresses are to hard;
it's the first time in 3 years and 2450 clients that we have complain about that
3 The towels,
each days the chambermaid change the towel dropped on the ground, approximately the half of the 6 fitting each bathroom, and they told me that someone are, sorry for the point ,stains by stools though you don't mis toilet paper!
4 the meat,
lamb cuttled was tough, first note that as request they prepar for you a special meal different from the other guest , the butcher in morrocco works different from the european one the killed animal are immediately eated having no time to tenderize it can explain that you feel it tough, personnalyI feel the lamb verry tasteful and not tough excepted if you want it well done
in the dlightfull couscous there is no beef at all but some pieces of lamb that you confuse as beef.
Thus I answer on request of my team anxious to clarify each point of your largely nice advise and clearely spontaneus as always for us.
We hope you understand our right to establish the truth, not emanating only from the guest but also from the team.
All member of our staff are educated with religious principel ruling out any
ambiguity, thats why they insistenly want to add theses points to be clarified.
Again we hope you enjoy your stay in our guesthouse and we will be happy to host you another time,
E Van Muylder

This is a lovely small hotel, situated in the heart of Taroudant but totally secluded from the noise and bustle of the town. The hotel is built in the traditional adobe style and decorated with soft, muted tones of grey and brown. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms enormous. There is a beautiful swimming pool in the hotel garden, plus a separate hot tub. The garden is quite charming, with a fountain and native shrubs and flowers. There is a roof terrace that provides a fine view over the town. There are no room TVs but there is a multi-channel TV in the common lounge that offers access to all the usual international news media. Wifi is also available but the signal is stronger in the public areas than in the rooms.

The all-female staff are more proficient in French than English, but we managed to make our needs known easily enough. You will be asked at the time of reservation or check in if you want to have dinner in the hotel, because the kitchen buys fresh ingredients that day depending on how many diners they have. We would definitely recommend dining there. Both breakfast and dinner are served in the open, in the garden. We found the staff friendly and helpful. Note that credit cards are not accepted, so bring cash or else get some from one of the many local ATM machines or banks. All in all we found this a charming place to stay.

This was a lovely stay. We stayed for one night on our tour of Morocco. The property was gorgeous (lots of greenery) - our room was a good size with comfortable beds and the bathroom fixtures were beautiful.

The service was great. We were greeted with tea upon arrival. And service during dinner and breakfast was good. The food was delicious - we (group of 5) all agreed that the pumpkin/squash soup they served during dinner was the best soup we had all week in Morocco. YUM! The chicken tagine dish was also very good.

Overall, great stay. Taroudant can be a bit busy on the streets, but the hotel felt like an oasis of calm. Once we stepped inside the pretty blue door of the hotel, everything was so peaceful!

Rather disappointed with the things to see/ do in Taroudant we spent a lot of time inside the Riad. A stunning architecture, I can not fault it in any way. Large beautiful rooms, amazing roof terrace, delicious dinner ( sea food pastilla/ grilled vegetables as main course). Inviting patio pool and very competent staff. Excellent value for money. Thank you Zohra and every one else for such a nice stay.

On our tour to Morocco we stayed 1 night in Taroudant's Palais Oumensour. Taroudant itself is not the most fascinating town in Morocco, but the riad is worth staying one or more nights. It's a hidden treasure in Taroudant in a beautiful reduced(modern) morrocan style. Rooms and Suites are spacious. Good dinner and breakfast. We felt like home.
