“Poor Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

We stayed at the hotel recently with friends (I think they have reviewed as well under snowcat user name) and found it a lovely hotel with fantastic pool, sun terrace and nicely decorated rooms.
There was a problem with both service and calculation of the final bill. The food under the set menu was not great value for money at €16 and not great quality. We ordered a bottle of red wine and then we ordered another bottle. When a bottle of opened rose was brought out we said no we had ordered red. The rose was taken away and a bottle of red brought out.
When presented with the final bill on check out not only had they charged us for the Rose but it was also incorrect, the initial bill was €160 which should either have been €113 with the rose we didnt drink or €102 without. When we asked for the bill to be broken down the manager was quite rude wuth us and blamed the incorrect bill on us. She proceeded to ask the waitress to pour the bottle of wine into the garden in front of us embarassing both us herself and I suspect the waitress. In the end she agreed to the correct €102 amount.
The final incident left a sour taste in our mouth and there was no evidence of the customer coming first.
I would say stay here again but not eat and made sure I checked my bill.

These is the second comment for the same stay in our guesthouse, (read the snowcat advise).
We will make the same reply as the one on snowcat comment.
We wonder why so heavy insinuate about the staff ,as you can read in the 46 other positives advices these one is frequently thanks for the warmth and availability.
About the food, again read the other comment to make up your mind!

Without a doubt, this the best hotel in Taroudant. With it's stunning courtyard, swimming pool, and lovely Moroccon decor, I can't fault it's asthetics one bit. The rooms were great as well and everything was spotless. My complaint is to do with the fact the French Lady who owns it is unbelievably uninterested and unhelpful with everything except when it came to the bill and she kicked off after we had the audacity to point out she had charged us twice for our dinner. It got very heated(all in French) and she was so rude and blamed us.The poor waitress/servant girl who had to deal with everything (without speaking English) was completly out of her depth and it got quite annoying after a while, also, the set menu was terrible and none of us ate it. Still, the hotel itself is faultless. Just don't expect any kind of service or help on anything and check your bill.

Room Tip: The 6 rooms are all different prices

We apologize for the misunderstood,
Mery the local manager, highly appreciate by many clients in these case make an error when she refuse to return the rose bottle of wine orderd by the guest who change her mind for red wine but the one was already open !.
However regarding the bill the count was strictly right excepted the rose bottle that the guest initially agree to pay .
Nobody is perfect and Mery will do differently next time, but reading the comment about her you'll understant that these client is particulary unfair with her.
We hope that our guest keep a good souvenir of hese stay in our guesthouse, as it seems nevertheless

After spending one hour, two local guides/youths on mopeds trying to find this hotel and 30 dirhams later, down a dirty back street the hotel was finally located. After minutes waiting to gain access through the locked hotel door and being harrassed by local beggars I was finally allowed in. The hotel is undoubtedly well kept but I was not allowed to look around rather bullishly I was escorted to the reception desk where my enquiry for a family room was rudely brushed aside I was told 2 rooms or nothing: Quite frankly their attitude was one of indifference bordering on insolence I consider myself having a lucky escape

Room Tip: Dont Go Here

we are verry suspicious about these advise emanating from a "tourist" who didn't stay in our guest house, arriving with a "guide" requesting one room for five people!! and refusing our proposal of two rooms for the family.
He leave ,and claims that everythings are too expensive!!
We suspect unfortunately a dishonest manoeuvre because of our hotel pole position in Taroudant

We stayed here for 3 nights over Easter and were 100% impressed with every aspect. The rooms are stylish. spacious, clean and comfortable; the hotel ambiance is calm and relaxing; the public areas around the hotel (both inside and outside) are beautifully decorated and landscaped; perfect central location in the town; great reasonably priced food and drink; the service is second to none. In particular we found Awatif (who speaks perfect English) to be warm, welcoming and exceptionally helpful. And it was SO reasonably priced......we'd highly recommend

Situated bang in the centre of the medina in Taroudant this is a perfect little oasis of peace and quiet. We tried self drive from Agadir and negotiating the maze of streets in the medina was quite an adventure, and we ended up parking at the nearest convenient place, walking to the riad and once we had walked a route back to the car, drove to the parking area just outside the Riad. Like all the Moroccan riads, the plain doorway belies the beauty of the interior. The check-in is easy and relaxed with a refreshing welcome drink. The rooms are all individually decorated in traditional style with thick walls which although need a little warming in the winter would be nice and cool in the summer. there is a safe in each room and a hairdryer plus a little dish of cakes which is a nice touch.
Being in the centre of the medina everything is in easy reach but with the lovely courtyard and swimming pool in the riad it can be a little difficult to tear yourself away.
The breakfast is lovely with fresh breads cakes and preserves. Dinner can be ordered earlier on in the day and although there is no choice we were not disappointed with everything being freshly prepared and lots of argan oil to dress your salad.
Meryem and her staff did everything to make our stay comfortable (despite their lack of English and our lack of French and Arabic). Reasonably priced and a great little find.

Room Tip: Pay just a few euros more for a suite

Forget the other hotels. This 6 bedroom Riad only 5 minutes walk from the Grand Bazaar is the place to stay. Hidden behind and inauspcious blue door this lttle gem belies its grand title of Palais, but with a delightful swimming pool and garden is an oasis in the hubbub of Taroudannt.

Superbly clean, the staff and the food are excellent and at €50-€60 per night with breakfast is a bargain not to be missed. The dinners are nicely cooked and at €12 per person for 3 couses are great value too. They also serve wine which is an added bonus.

Try it. You will not be disappointed.

The stay at le Palais Oumensour was really delightful. It was fun to practise my French and the staff were also keen to make sure we understood everything we needed. The rooms were really nice, beds comfortable, and cleaned every day. The food was very good and all home baked by the cook - even the jam. The breakfast was all you wanted, yoghurts, pancakes and fresh fruit salads. 5 of our group were vegetarian and the dishes that were served for those were with imagination. Taroudant remains unspoilt and when we went to the local markets, we found there was always a willing passing guide to take you round. The weather was very bad (untypical for that time of year), but that doesn't deter us from going back later in the year. We have already decided to do a big family break as we were so impressed!
