“Fourth visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014 via mobile

Coming back here is like coming home, even the guests are the same as last year. The staff are fabulous as always and Tim, the customer relations manager could not have been more helpful.
If you fancy an early drink or a nightcap try Uncle John's bar at the top of the road, he's a real sweetheart and brings out nuts or fruits when you go there. Avoid the sunset bar at the bottom of the hill. The guy there is arrogant and will rip you off. If you want to go off site the Ship is is a 300 baht taxi ride away. It's got lovely views over the sea but the food just comes as its ready, forget courses or whether your partner's meal is ready. All part of the charm really.
Now for the moan. As you will know from other reviews, the beach and all facilities are shared with Kantary bay hotel. We got yo know and chat with many of them and came to terms with sunbed saving etc. However one chat who comes every year and hates children grumbled at 3 teenager s who were playing a quiet game of ball in the beach pool. Well here's the thing Mr. Grump THIS IS NOT YOUR HOTEL. These kids parents had paid good money for them to stay at Cape Panwa and there are two perfectly good pools at Kantary bay. So if you are going to share our hotel at least let our guests enjoy their own facilities.
Rant over but it really made me cross.
All in all though a wonderful place to stay.

The Cape Panwa Hotel, Phuket, thanks you for your feedback and your concern for other guests, including teenage guests. Your informative commentary regarding the neighborhood facilities and services should be useful to other readers planning a stay with us, while your appreciation for our staff and management, some by name, has been shared with them. I decided to stay in this hotel because of the location,at the cape. and expected to have a room with a wide & clear view. I paid for the Panwa Suite room. It looks exactly like in the pictures and provides everything a suite room should have. However, I think there is something wrong with the room layout and the view is very disappointed as you will have hotel building roof view from your balcony.
However, they have a very good beach as well as the area in front of the beach is wide and good for sun bathing.
Breakfast is average both in variety and deliciousness.
Spa is very goo, recommend to try it.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room in C & D wings, bad view.

We were staying in the J Wing on the third floor and had a nice view through the palm trees to the beach. There is a fun cable car running from the J Wing down to the beach as well as a lower and upper pool. The upper pool is just off the lobby and the better of the two. The breakfast is fantastic with a large variety of fresh fruit, heated dishes favored by Europeans, Chinese and Thai's, along with a salad bar, omelette bar, Super Fruit bar etc. Breakfast was included in our room price. There is free shuttle service to the Harbor Front, (Kantaray Hotel), with other restaurants and bars. There are a series of small massage parlors and bars along the uphill road leading to the Cape Panwa Hotel. Nice workout gym and good, traditional Thai restaurant at the beach. Be sure to check the tide times because you are only going to want to use the hotel beach during high tides.

Room Tip: J Wing was nice on the third floor.

Have just returned from this peaceful hotel, I have read some previous posts on this hotel, some of which I find hard to believe. The staff were very friendly, all you moaning Minnies, try giving a smile yourself, if you look at someone frostily, they are hardly going to smile back are they? The feedback is obviously working on the tea and coffee at breakfast, staff were constantly going round topping up. Oh yes, surprise, surprise there are also boats on the sea, what do some of you expect, double decker buses? Just a little tip with the wifi, save as a favourite the log in page, then when you lose the connection, just paste in your user name and password again. Overall it was a most pleasant experience to stay at this hotel. However, there is one thing I hope the hotel management will explain regarding their policy on the guests from the Kantary. I understand they are allowed to use the beach and facilities at the Cape Panwa, fair enough, but what I witnessed regarding the saving of sunbeds, I feel needs addressing. At around 6.45am, sunbeds are reserved on an industrial scale. I witnessed a member of staff with a trolley containing three large bags of towels, I would estimate sixty sunbeds were reserved. What happens is, personal items, books, hats, etc are placed on the beds to save them, then they go round with the towels. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of sunbeds but not always in the best position or perhaps where you would want to be, given the time this is happening, I would say most beds are being reserved for the Kantary guests as it is difficult for them to get up to the beach from the Kantary that early in the morning,  most of the saved beds have the superior mattresses and two parasols, in some cases three! Not a problem maybe, but I saw one person struggling to find a single parasol, I can see both sides, cheap long-term b&b at the Kantary and a reserved bed on the beach as opposed to paying top dollar at the Panwa. But hardly fair!

Returned for the 6th time to our home from home on the beach. The exceptionally friendly staff really make our stay here simply the best and we will hate to have to leave later this week. The private beach with the cooling sea breeze is a delight during the day and the hotel restaurants and local restaurants give such variety of delicious meals for the evening. Highly recommended.

The Hotel is just over an hour from airport. It is secluded and the reception doesn't do it justice although the cane fish are very tastefully arranged. The food in all restaurants was very good, you didn't feel that you were dining in same Hotel each night something for all. I could go into detail on rooms, staff, private beach etc. this has been said on other reviews all very good. If you want to experience Thailand without the sleeze this is the place to come. Very beautiful.

Just returned from a wonderfully relaxing 2 week stay. We just booked on a B&B basis as there appeared to be plenty of other dining options nearby that we figured it would be sure to end up cheaper with more variety, so although most of our lunches were at the Bamboo bar on the beach, and had a couple of meals at Cafe Andaman we mostly ate out in the eves as there were plenty of places within walking distance (the hill was rather a challenge but we preferred to work up an appetite rather than catch the shuttle bus!)
Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts although we were disappointed in ourselves that we didn't discover the dimsum until our 4th morning - pays to lift every lid - and we soon made up for lost time! The other meals were good - more expensive than the surrounding restaurants but that's to be expected. There were plenty of special offers on set menus but they always appeared to be for far more food than we were likely to want.
Our room was comfortable & clean - it didn't have the best of views (1st floor junior suite T block) but we weren't intending on spending time on the balcony anyway so we didn't request a change.
We loved the beach, although it's a shame it is so crowded - but it's no big deal to pop down before breakfast & pick out a spot, and there's always space somewhere (we didnt get down to the beach until after 11am on our first day and still found an OK place). There were very long tides during our second week, completely exposing the reef at low tide giving plenty of opportunity to explore (although unfortunately I'm not sure all the guests realised that they should avoid treading on the live coral)
All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful - of course a smile and politeness, and attempts to learn a couple of Thai words always helps. Sandy at the Bamboo Bar was particularly helpful and was anticipating our drinks orders after only a couple of days.

As a general rule we don't return to places (too many expectations...and too many other places we still want to visit), but we're seriously tempted to return here.
