“Peaceful and calm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2008

We stayed for 5 nights and returned last Friday. We have 4 kids and had two adjoining rooms.

The breakfast was good - with plenty of choice - although the dining room was not really cool.

Staff really helpful - could not do enough to help.

The hotel pool was a fairly good size but we did not use it because there is no shade at all. There is another much smaller pool on the beach and this is where the kids swam. The sea was great. I had heard before we went that there were rocks on the beach at low tide - this was a problem for some people - but although I am a London girl I now live by the sea myself and it took me 3 seconds to realise that the "rocks" were in fact a wonderful coral reef full of colour ful fish. The kids loved this. It meant that they could explore the reef in shallow water and hand feed the fish with bread. I have not read this before on the reviews so forgive me if I am repeating what others have said. The beach is a good size and you can go for a short stroll and be away from the rest of the hotel which was great. There are plenty of sunbeds and free towels. The beach cafe was good value with a good selection of day time snacks and COLD BEER!!!

The free shuttle bus to a sister hotel was great. The journey is about 5 mins and offers you various options for other dining. As many others have mentioned the Hill TOP rest. just outside the CP hotel is good value and provides wonderful Thai food with a big smile as always.

All in all a great little hotel to escape to for peace and quiet although you can still easily get around the whole island to all the other attractions.

What can I say, this is a really lovely hotel.
Check in was efficient after we turned up several hours after our intended arrival time following a 6 hour delay on Eva Air from Heathrow.
We had Room F307 which had good sea views and was a great place to watch the lightning most nights. There are some new apartments being built on a mountainside which is visible from Cape Panwa but this didn't cause any annoyance. The rooms were clean and spacious and the day bed on the balcony was wonderful to collapse on at the end of the day.
The breakfast was good with plenty of fresh food prepared even though we were probably the last to turn up at breakfast at 10.30am.
Although we had room service on one occasion (great burger!) most nights we ate at the Sawasdee restaurant over the hill in Panwa Village. The thai food was excellent and very cheap.
From the village we organised a day trip to Coral Island (Banana Beach). Russell from the Sunset Bar organised for a local guy called Sim to take us over in his longtail boat. It was a great day out and wonderful snorkeling.
If you want hectic nightlife every night this is not the place for you. Its peaceful and relaxing but if you want to get out and see the island it is not difficult. In fact, to hire a driver from the hotel for a day or half day was really cheap compared to the prices the taxi drivers from Patong want to charge. Also the shuttle bus from the hotel to Patong in the evening is also cheap, about 250 baht return per person.
Can't wait to go back

We booked this Hotel through Kuoni, the Hotel is all it shows on the pictures very helpful staff, Very clean, good size and well equiped rooms, and has a glorious outlook over the sea. As a couple of other reviews have said you can eat cheaper down in the village however we took the meal ticket deal which includes all the service charge and vat in one ticket 720 Bht however the more tickets you buy, the more tickets you get free.
We did not feel it was over priced for instance the BBQ Buffet in the Cafe Anderamn you choose your own meat and they cook it for you, and you can have as much as you like, in Nans the Italian restaurant the set meal rivals some we have paid much more for in England ok it did not include drinks but you choose your drinks and they were cheaper than in english eateries.
However the jewel in the crown must be the Top of the Reef Restaurant the meal and service rivals anything we have experienced including top class restuarants. for just over the equivelant of £11 we had a three course meal that also had apertisers and sorbets as well as the food listed included, the food was cooked and presented to perfection Beef Wellington on a scale of 10 out of 10
salad dressings made to your personal taste at your table, I could go on but I hope you get the picture. we ate there the last night and choose from the menu it was the best £40 we have spent in a long time. Overall it was a very good Holiday experience we also found if we walked up the hill just over the ridge a place called Bliss where they did a super full body massage with aloe vera for 400 Bht excelllent if you had spent time in the sun. We would return to this spot without hesitation.

We have just returned from 3 weeks at the Cape Panwa hotel in Phuket, Thailand and we had a lovely time. The weather was very hot mostly in the 80's but we did have some electrical storms most nights. The hotel is indeed very quiet so if you are looking for loads of nightlife then please don't go. The staff and the hotel we just could not fault. We booked a delux jacuzzi suite which I would highly recommend if you can afford the upgrade there are only two and I think they are the best and have stunning panoramic views. These are in E block and in my view even the superior rooms in this block will have good views when you book request d, e or f for the best views as the others could be sea views but with lots of trees hiding the view. There were some families in the hotel which said there were not enough things to do for teenage children this is true but surely you know this when you book as it is in the quietist part of the island about 50 mins by taxi to Patong. There are indeed some nice places to eat although not loads of choice but we checked them all out and liked them all and of course much cheeper to eat than the hotel although the Panwa Thai restaurant was in a lovely setting with great food. I also read some reviews about the beach being dirty well when we were there it was clean and there were always someone going along cleaning up anything that was washed up although do not expect a hugh beach that you can walk for miles as it is very small. As for the port around the corner well we used to love seeing all the boats coming in and out especially the big liners that we used to get in at least twice a week.

Would we go back yes we would but maybe not next year as there are always other places to visit although there were other couples looking to book again for next year so that says something. All in all a great holiday something to remember always

This hotel was booked via a tour operator "Best tours" and the choice was good despite a location a little bit far from the places to visit and see.
The resort offers many restaurants and the quality was pretty good. Rooms were very good and the AC is realy usefull.
For a next stay in Phuket, I would choice another one, maybe, closer to Kata where the beach is wonderfull.
Question of taste of course

My boyfriend and i checked in on the 20th March with very high expectations having read the many positive reviews of the hotel on Trop Advisor. We were very pleased by what we found, the resort is clean and well maintained. It is set within lush skurroundings and the setout is very pleasing on the eye. We were looking just to have an ultimately chilled out holiday and that is what we got. The Resort though booked out when we wre there, did not appear to be over crowded or at all busy. During the stay the Princess of Thailand was also there as she regularly stays there so there was heightened security around the resort. The staff are all very polite and competant. The only annoyance was that i specifically emailed ahead before we checked in to ensure our room had a double bed and not a twin. low and behold we thought we had received a double until i started to fall in between the twin bed that was in our room. cleverly disguised as a double. we did ask to be moved but then had already unpacked by the time a new room was found so could not then be bothered to shift. Otherwise the room was nice and spacious, our balcony had a view over the main pool which was fine as we still could see the mountains and some ocean. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of our room and house keeping were very thorough. The bathroom was not very new but was more than adequate with a really strong shower. The private beach is very nice and relatively clean, unfortunately litter out of the ocean did wash out but there was a guy who would be cleaning the beach through out the day.
Breakfast was fine however became quite monotonous as they usually do. We chose to only eat at the Beach Bar and Panwa House. Panwa House is so lovely and serves really nice Thai food looking on to the beach. We did not find that the food was unreasonably priced seeing as it was on the resort as you could still have a really good meal for two people for about £20.00, we dont really drink so alcohol charges were not an issue for us.
I was really disappointed with James' Restaurant as the food was horrible, the staff were lazy and not at all attentive and prefered for me to shout out what drink i wanted rather than actually attend to me at the table.....then they got the order wrong! The restaurant Sawasadee again, was not all that. The staff couldnt really be bothered, so i didnt go back.
As for things to do we went to Patong twice during our stay. The hotel have a bus service to take you to patong every night unfortunately this only runs at half 7 and returns at half 11. it takes about an hour each was so that doesnt leave you long in patong to get through all teh hustle and bustle. We took a taxi there and a tuc-tuc back at our own pace which was fine for about 1000 baht return.
All in all this is a really lovely resort with friendly staff, lovely scenery and the space to just really get away from it all and relax. It is clean and well looked after and the little details go a long way to ensure you have a nice stay. However, i would not recommend Cape Spa which is the hotel's own spa offering treatments such as massages etc. The quality of massages is very mediocre and very expensive for what you actually get. Instead treat yourself to a massage at the massage places directly outside the hotel such as Bliss Massage where you will be greeted with a smile and a complimentary bottle of water and face towel. The prices are very very reasonable for what you get which is better than what Cape Spa offer on a more friendly and less informal basis. The ladies here will always acommodate what you require, myself and my boyfriend initially went for a foot massage but ended up receiving an indian head massage and stretch for no extra charge.
I would definately return to this resort. The only down side being that it is quite far out from main attractions. However, this was fine to ensure the peace and relaxation we required.

We needed a relaxing holiday & thats exactly what we had. After much nervousness in scanning through the many Phuket hotel websites, we booked & crossed our fingers. To our delight, we were not disappointed & it all started with a warm greeting at the airport as we settled in for our 45min hotel limo ride to the hotel. There is something to be said about being patient !
The check-in was smooth & we had a very comfortable room over-looking the pool in the C wing. This turned out to be a very good location as we did not need to walk too far to our room each day & the breakfast area was in the same wing. All room amenities were fine, yet don't expect anything flash.
The highlight was definitely having access to a private beach. The beach was clean & there were many sunbeds to choose from, as well as a good menu (albeit basic) with the added temptation of having a beach massage too (despite the fact you can get a better one up the road for half the price). The pool area is also really nice, yet gets a bit small when there are too many kids. There is a Buffet each night in the main eating area, yet a bit pricy & better value down in the Village.
The Panwa Village shopping area was a great bonus & close to the hotel. The shuttle bus leaves every 10mins (except if the Princess stays & then you wil be waiting for 30mins) & is very reliable. The restaurants are great too with the best being "Sawasdee", "Uncle Nan's Italian" & the Indian Place. "Sunset Bar" also offers great drinks & no doubt another chance to catch up with fellow Cape Panwa-ians, as well as watch a game of EPL.
Tours: The Hotel arranged Coral Island tour is good value. Beware the price of Phi Phi Island tours, otherwise you can pay a bit more through the hotel & get dropped back to the hotel & saves you from a very long bus ride home). Patong was a waste of time & very smelly, yet hard to not go there so getting the hotel shuttle bus was good value. And to end our stay, we received VIP access to the Cape Panwa Lounge where you can freshen up before your flight home - NB: To compensate for not giving you a late check-out. Overall a good hotel, yet starting to show signs of age. It was great value for money & we would definitely come back again.
