“Even Better Second Time Around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

My Wife and I have just returned from a second stay of 4 weeks at this lovely hotel We could not have been made more welcome by all management and staff. Even the gardeners remembered us with hugs all round.

The hotel now has a beach bar which is also open at night serving simple, tasty meals by star light with entertainment.
Mondays now has a bbq which is well worth the money. Wednesday night sees a Thai buffet in the main restuarant with huge range of Thai food that never seems to run out.

We were lucky that Valentines day feel during our stay. The hotel put on a superb dinner by the pool. Nice touch was a red rose for every lady and a bottle of wine waiting on each table.. Food was as always generous well cooked and nicely presented.
This hotel is ideal for couples of any age. Not recommended for anyone looking for night clubs and bars.
There are 2 local restuarants on the beach next to the hotel that serve Thai dishes cooked to order at very low prices. You can now even get a bottle of wine with your meal. Don't expect quick service if they are busy, but then its nice sitting at a table on the sand with the sea coming up to the table (in one case past the table).
This helps to overcome the fact that the hotel is a bit isolated. A good tip is for 2 or more couples to share at taxi or mini bus (which will come back for you) and visit one of the may restuarants in the area
We would like to thank the lovely people at Panwa Beach Resort for another holiday to remember. We feel they are part of our extended family.

One of the advantages of a long stay is that you get to know some of the other guests, we have made some (hopefully) lasting friendships.
The grounds and beach are spotless. The sea was 87 °F in the shallows when it came in over the hot sand.

THANK ALL AT PANWA BEACH RESORT

Room Tip: Be nice to the staff and it will be repaid a 1000 times. Relax, unwind and enjoy!

This is a nice beach resort, with manicured and pleasant garden. Situated right on a clean albeit small white sandy beach, thus is can feel a bit crowded at times. The hotel is far away from town and airport, we rely on taxi to go shopping and airport. During my stay, the hotel arranged "Mr Lucky" as our taxi for 3 days, he is reliable, helpful and friendly. Our trip felt much more pleasant because of his service.

Breakfast buffet in "Baan Thai" is delicious, with warm and very helpful staff. Lunch can be pricey in Baan Thai, it taste good nonetheless. There is 2 cheap and tasty local eatery right beside the hotel, with tables on the beach. You can reach them by walking on the beach. Dining while watching the glorious sunset is a great experience.

We stayed in room 101, it is spacey and comfortable, we really like the big and well equipped bathroom. The bed however is a bit hard. While room 101 is marketed as beach front room, it really isn't fronting the beach and shouldn't be called as such.

Room Tip: Ask for room 104 (Beach Front), 101-103 are not fronting the beach, with 101 being the further from...

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Hotel room was with the ocean view and a small garden which was amazing. However the room itself was so-so. It was clean, but a bit old and looked like needed renovation. Also, in the bathroom we had a door to another room (like an option to merge rooms into one). So it was a bit scary that someone will come in in the middle of your bath. Those door were obviously closed and nothing like that happened, but it left us with a strange feeling all the time. Also you can hear clearly people in the other room.

Drinks are pretty ok, nothing fancy but I preferred to taste local beers. The food is amazing in hotel's restaurant. Although I am pretty fastidious, I tried every day a different dish and each time the food was delicious. In the evening in January we had some mosquitoes buzzing around. Be prepare to be bitten :)

Hotel's pool is a great thing. It is big enough to have some morning swim to keep the shape. Also there are some beach towels available all the time for free. No problem to get extra beds close to the beach or pool.

The beach itself is very nice and quite and is much wider than it is shown on the photos.
In the small shop next to the hotel (still on the beach) you can by some snack like candies or nuts, also some beverages and cigarettes.

Be aware, that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere and you need a taxi and some (a lot) of cash to go to the city. No ATM or money exchange nearby so be prepare to have some with you. Paying with card was never a problem.

Hotel stuff was really friendly, although sometimes they don't really understand English.
As for the free WiFi: you need user ID and a pass each time you log in. You can obtain a small card with these credentials in the lobby. Better to put the credentials as a note in your phone so you can copy/paste them instead of typing it each time.

We enjoyed our time there. Lot's of relax and silence with a great pool, drinks and food!

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your detailed review posted on Tripadvisor. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for your feedback.
We have started doing some maintenance in the rooms and we will continue to do that throughout the low season (May to October). It is only painting job and it does not have any disturbance to guests.
Regarding your comment about the door leading to another room, these are for connecting (family) room and as you had clearly mentioned they are locked and cannot be open from the inside.
Thank you for your comment about our amazing food and rest assure that I will share it with our Chef.
For your information, the Wi-Fi is now free in the entire resort including the rooms. :-)

Again, thank you for your feedback and we are looking forward to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards,
Claude

We had the perfect vacation at Panwa Beach Resort... The hotel is great, with its zen atmosphere, helpful and courteous staff, good food. Even though we were isolated, we had everything: ocean vue and private beach, kayak boats for free, spa, pool and jacuzzi, beach bar, thai night, etc And to avoid boredom we took two trips to Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay (James Bond Island) that we highly recommend.
The rooms are spacious, the furniture and TV are kinda oldish, but that wasn't a big inconvenient. The restaurant is great: lovely pool view, great service and good food (with european and thai dishes to choose from).
The beach is peaceful and offers a great view of the Chalong bay (amazing sunsets). During low tide we stayed by the pool (you have a paper with the good times for swimming in your room).

So all in all this was our best vacation so far!

we stayed here for two weeks at beginning of february. Great views and sunsets. good food great pool . Beach bars very close and next door hotel also serves to people off the beach and you sit at tables right on sand. Very good massages by beach bars for £6 a time for 1 hour. Cheap taxi rank over the road. For example £12 bought me a ride to chalong 20 minutes then it waited an hour while we went elephant riding then took us to a shopping centre and waited again then took us back to hotel. If you opt for the seaview rooms there are quite a lot of steps up to them. We chose a garden view room which was just a 50 yard stroll on to the beach it was very peaceful. The beach garden rooms are the best but cost more. If people say there is nothing to do in other reviews that is just rubbish. Short cheap taxi rides take you to just about anything you could want from snake shows to mountain views to the night time chaos of Patong. I had a great time hope you do too. Oh and by the way the rooms are fine.

Room Tip: go for garden rooms 114 is very good

Dear Guests,

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with other Tripadvisor readers.
It might be right that we are not in the middle of the "action" but as you had mentioned it is easy to take a taxi/shuttle and go to Patong (40 minutes) or Phuket town (much more charming and only 10 minutes away). What we hear most from our guest is the tranquility of the place and the direct beach access without crossing a road.

We are looking forward to welcome you back and don't hesitate to contact me directly if you need any assistance.

Kind regards,
Claude

This hotel, although a little way out, is a real gem.
The rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished.the location is very good indeed, right on the beach. The breakfast, as good as any we have had anywhere and the food in the restaurants is very good and well priced. The hotel has 2 or three beach bars, next door, which both serve excellent food and good cheap beer.
We spent 5 nights here and would have stayed another 5 if we had known how good it was before we booked.
Go and enjoy, the hotel, food and location and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you can get a sea view room, great, otherwise the garden views are excellent.

Reading the reviews before I booked this resort had me thinking it was well out of the way, as this was my third visit to Cape Panwa area I thought it could not be to far away from things and I was right, transport is easily accesible for any destination. Had 14 days in a room looking over the garden with views to the beach and being looked after by staff who are fantastic (especially Witrat, one of the staff in the dining room who was always smiling and and had a welcoming word). The accomodation is very clean and service is great, a wander around the gardens is very peaceful at anytime of the day but a walk along the beach at sunup is the perfect way to start the day and then laying on a sun lounge under a palm tree reading a book is a beautiful experience only beaten by the 1 hour massage available at one of several huts along the beach and apart from being very relaxing they are amazingly good value. One of the highlights of being there is the availability of genuinely fresh food served by people with real smiles.
Before I went to Phuket this time I said I would go somewhere else for my next holiday but after my experience at Panwa Beach I will be back there for another holiday and I could not recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden view room.
