“Decent hotel, but certainly nothing special.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The hotel itself is beautiful. Pool was very nice and the rooms were well kept. The serviced we received was simply unacceptable. We had a family of 7 travelling with us and from the moment we arrived we seemed to have problems with nearly everything. Whether it be in communication with staff that don't speak English, unattainable service at restaurants, misleading information regarding the 'mandatory' New Year's Eve buffet dinner, the inability to get into our rooms because all the key cards in the hotel didn't work after 12:00 on New Years - in which they were just giving new cards to anyone who asked for it, no I.d. Required- or the inaccurate check out bill upon our exit after we had already settled everything up the night before, we were all simply unhappy with the quality of service we received. We have been in south east Asia for 3 months and have received better service staying at hotels that are 1/4 of the price. We do not have a problem paying for a spectacular hotel however it is clear that while the hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms well kept, the service is greatly lacking. Unfortunately we will not be returning nor will we recommend this hotel to others.

The Resort is located at Panwa Beach, about one hours drive away from the airport. It has an awesome location and is located right on the water with great views of the Andaman Sea. Most rooms face the water or have a view of one of the two hotel pools. The rooms are large and luxurious but the service is quite laid back. We had a nice dinner at their specialty Thai Restaurant and the coffee shop serves decent breakfast. Overall it is a nice hotel to stay with if you are looking for a quiet place and want to avoid the crowds and sleaze of the Patong area.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room-the experience would be dramatically better

We came from a 5 star hotel in Dubai and arrived here close to midnight. It seemed so ordinary and having been sold the hotel as "5 star," slightly disappointing.

By morning things looked better. Buffet breakfast was good and, unusually it was hot too. The pool area is really nice though it could do with better management to prevent people laying out towels at 7.00am then not using the beds all day (something that reeks of budget Spain). The room was large and sea-facing though it was quite a walk to get there and back from the pool and I felt the decor was beginning to feel a little tired (bathroom blinds not working well, bed a little lumpy and wood on some furniture fading (nothing major).

Staff were very friendly though a little laid back. Rarely were we offered "an extra coffee" or "would you like another drink" so you always had to ask.

We didn't eat in as the European restaurant was the breakfast area and the Thai and Seafood restaurant was easily matched by and much more expensive than some local eateries. Everything had 10% service and 7% VAT added wheras outside the VAT was included. Happy hour was a bit odd too. 5-6pm by the pool or 9-10pm in the upstairs bar and no flexibility. They offer 50% off ALL drinks but when we ordered a botle of wine were charged full price. They reduced it after complaining. I noticed the bar was only busy between 9 and 10 and then dead thereafter so perhaps there's a lesson to learn about the pricing.

All the other hotels around had free courtesy tractors to take you to Panwa Beach but the Radisson didn't. The walk was only 10-15 minutes but they charged 200Baht to taxi (1 minute) and it was either too hot during the day or too dark at night to walk. It's a pity as it would make the place feel less isolated.

We enjoyed the stay. Be aware that the area is isolated and there's not much to do unless you take excursions or want to laze.

Would I go back? Probably not. Would I tell you not to stay here? Definitely not. It's a friendly hotel with a fabulous pool (albeit in a bay with no water as the tide goes out so far) and it would take very little investment to raise the bar here and make it exceptional. It might be worthwhile commenting that Phuket is a pricey island and though I comment on it feeling four star, we were given a good rate in comparison with the competition so it was still good value for money.

Full relaxation and enjoying with all the stuff inside hotel. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. SPA is very good. Green and clean territory. I would suggest to management add transfer from airport to hotel.

Fantastic stay in a very friendly and quiet location resort. Breakfast awesome and its' staff very friendly. Some negatives though which would be great if could be addressed were the top pool was not serviced which could bring in additional revenue, happy hour would attract customers if earlier say at 5 to 6 pm instead of 9 to 10 and the same with the in house restaurants say with meal deal nights as are pricy for families. Beds were firm.

Room Tip: Go for a room on a level not ground floor as can be noisy near pool areas.

A Very nice location quiet location and pools(s).The beach is average due to its location on the East side of the coast and in a shallow inlet, however the marked swimming area was cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful when asked for service. Their service was not intrusive ( which we liked) and they worked much like a family retaining their indivdual personalites which gave the Radisson a relaxed feel. There were a signifcant number of trainees in the staff but on the whole they tried very hard to provide a good serivce ( with a smile).
We found the food to be very good (Breakfast / Dinner) and it very much suited what we wanted from the holiday.
Given this was peak time we never felt the resort to be overcrowded or could not find a sunbed by the main pool.
Phuket in general does not appear as inexpensive as it's reputaion now, thus placed in that context I thought the hotel was reasonable value.
We would certainly consider the hotel again if we returned to Phuket.

Room Tip: We had a 2x delux sea view rooms - South side of the main building (with an adjoining door) which we...
