“Best resort we've experienced!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We would highly recommend this resort to everyone! You won't be disappointed! Everything from the pool, the beach, the villas, and restaurants are so beautiful and romantic. It's perfect for a honeymoon. All the employees at Naka are so friendly, and we've never experienced such great services before. They always stop to greet you when you walk by them, they helped us to book a cab to take us around when we arrived by speedboat from Naka to Phuket. Even the last day when it was pouring rain, they made sure all our luggages were covered in plastic to prevent it from getting wet and lent us rain coats from our villa to the cab.

My boyfriend and I had a 3D2N stay at the resort in late May 2013 and we definitely had a great time there.
We stayed at the Tropical Pool Villa and we enjoyed the setting of having our lovely private pool and lots of relaxation areas like daybed and couches within the villa. Yet, when we stepped out from our own villa, we could find different activities arranged to cater different guests' needs. We chose to do a bit of kayaking, biking to the local village on the other side of the island and had a Thai boxing training section, which were something we can't do easily in our hectic city life in HK.
We are more impressed by the very friendly and smiley staff working in the resort, everyone is so helpful and willing to provide a welcoming environment to the guests. We would like to thank all the staff, ESP Guest Manager, David for their hospitality.
We also enjoyed the all-you-can-eat tapas offer at Z-bar, which went with the beautiful sunset. Breakfast at Tonsai was also amazing, we particularly liked the way to serve main course separately from the self-helping area so that the dishes could be garnished very nicely.
You may find the price of booking your vacation in this resort comparatively higher than most of the resort in Phuket island, but rest assured that you will find the money you pay worths it after staying here. I also hope we will visit there again on our honeymoon vacation. :)

I'm just getting ready to leave NaKa after a 3 night stay with my husband and we have never felt so refreshed and relaxed after a break as we do right now.

Our sea view villa is delightful and like a previous review does put you in mind of the flintstones - all curves and smooth stones but with a very luxury finish.

The private pool is the perfect place to cool down when it gets too hot and is surrounded by 3 lounge areas with and without shade - shaded perfect for me and the unshaded for my sun loving husband.

We have loved spending the late afternoon sipping cocktails and watching the sunset from the sofas in the Z bar. The cosmopolitan was one of the best I have ever tasted.

We have taken a kayak round the island and made use of the bikes supplied with each villa for some exploring - we found a great little bar on the opposite side of the island to have lunch.

For dinner we have eaten 'tapas' in Z bar - certainly different from what I was expecting - not spanish - but delicious, plentiful, freshly prepared to order and beautifully served. Being lovers of Thai food we sampled this in the Tonsai, again it was delicious, fresh and perfectly spiced.
Breakfast is a very leisurely affair served mainly buffet style but without the jostling that can happen at some resorts. Again the food was fresh and plentiful with a selection to please all tastes.

Finally, the staff, it is the staff who truly make this resort five star - they are very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive in a genuine manner - no trained cheesiness to be seen. They all appear to love their jobs and want to make your stay as pleasant as they can.
A huge thankyou to Erich the general manager and all the ambassadors - we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon !

Let me start by saying the photos don’t do this place any justice. The resort is amazing. Our family 2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 & 10 had some much need pampering after 10 days in Thailand and we were pleased we chose The Naka Island as our final resort.
Naka island resort is only a 5 minute boat ride from the marina but upon arrival we felt we were a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of busy Phuket.

Villas

Each villa was positioned for complete privacy and seclusion so we felt we were on our own private island at times. Our pool was much bigger than the photos represent and had the most refreshingly cool water temp we have experienced in Thailand. The adjoining sala was the perfect place to laze with a book and enjoy the surrounding gardens or a game of chess. The best way to describe the villas themselves is ‘unique luxury’.
All the usual 5 star hotel inclusions are there but it’s the little extras that make this hotel stand out – These included the iPods in each villa that were preloaded with relaxing music and the incense and candles to greet us on returning from dinner each night.

Kids

We didn’t expect much for the kids at this resort – but we were pleasantly surprised. There is an air-conditioned kid’s room near the spa entrance with a PlayStation and Nintendo Wii, not that they needed to use it much. The pool and pool table were very popular with our girls. Each afternoon at 2pm there were different craft activities organised by the pool for a small cost.
The Kids nicknamed the resort “Bedrock” as they thought the Villas looked like a 5 star Fred Flintstone house with a thatched roof.

Resort

The Resort itself has a casual relaxed elegant feel to it, coupled with caring staff, which have obviously been well trained. The main pools are great for a relaxing swim, cocktail or to just read a book while the world goes by. The main pool and dining areas have an awesome view back to the main island with the boats cruising by in the foreground. This was truly a complete relaxation resort, if you want it to be.

Spa

What a magical place the spa was, it has to be seen to be believed. We indulged in a couple’s package, I had a body scrub which was by far the best I have experienced while my husband relaxed with an hour long massage. We floated out of the room and met our nanny and kids for a long leisurely lunch. A perfect way to start another relaxing peaceful day on Naka.

Food and Wine.

After 2 weeks in Thailand it was so nice to finally have a good steak. As wine drinkers we found the wine menu extensive enough to please both of us with a little help from the resident Sommelier. One of our daughters is a vegetarian and she had plenty to choose from during our stay, in fact all tastes were catered for – we couldn’t have been happier. Breakfast was fantastic, with a great variety of fruits and continental offerings with an al a carte hot dish menu that appealed to all. Sunset cocktails at Z-bar were a daily ritual and a perfect end to the day and great start to the night.

The Staff

GM, Erich has a great team around him with the stand outs for us being Khun Noi in Z Bar, Khun Name in Front Office, Khun Tong in Ton sai and Khun Kook in My Grill and a special mention for David, the Guest Relations Manager for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Overall

Just what we were looking for….total relaxation and pampering in Unique Luxury.

My fiancee and I had the privilege of staying one night at The Naka Island in May 2013 when we attended an event organized by our host Omega Thailand. Despite the fact that weather was lousy that weekend with grayish sky on Saturday and non-stop rain on Sunday, Naka Island shone through as a lovable and well managed resort.

Our Seaview Pool Villa was spacious and well thought out. Bathroom was sort of u-shaped around the back of the bedroom. We did not use the outdoor bathtub but the steam facility inside of the shower room was easy to operate and quick to warm up. View from our particular villa was fine but somewhat limited by the grown trees on left and right.

We did spend a few minutes at the Z Bar. The panoramic view up there was great. We would imagine the view from the Royal Horizon Pool Villa to be quite the same or even better. That particular unit should merit the "5/5 Excellent" rating by the TripAdvisor system.

The event we attended was held in the outdoor area surrounded by the main pool, Tonsai, My Grill and the beach. It was lovely with a themed photo exhibition in the spacious yard. Thankfully, it did not rain that evening otherwise things would have turned out very, very differently. We were also surprised by the absence of mosquitoes on the hotel grounds and in the villa. At one point, we were inclined to think they were bribed to just go away.

Breakfast service featured a little everything in the buffet line and a small menu of freshly made dishes you can order from your table. The latter took quite a long time, though. Pork is not served here, we were told, as it is against the religious belief of the resort owner.

As we know the management will soon be reading this, allow us to congratulate you on the good job you are doing and to share with you what we hope you will find to be constructive comments.

- It is not possible to lock the villa gate from inside. We trust your staff to observe the "do not disturb" ball outside. But we feel guests can easily forget to manipulate it as it is placed a little further away from the gate itself.

- You may want to remind your colleagues to go easy on the golf carts, especially around corners. They were not exactly speeding but as you know some turns are quite tight. We are sure they know what they are doing but still it is better to stay on the safe side.

- At breakfast, chilled water is provided in glass bottles with rotating caps. We believe a regular bottle with no cap or a simple jug would be more suitable as some guests may inadvertently touch the wrong side of the rotating cap with their fingers as they close it and leave the bottle for the next guest to open.

With that said, we must also note how impressed we are by the professionalism and courtesy of your staff throughout our stay. And for that we are thankful.

Last words to potential guests: stay a minimum of three nights if you can to enjoy Naka Island fully. One night is never enough. Two may just do it. But three is always better if you have the time.

Room Tip: If you are considering the Tropical villa, you may want to consider upgrading to the Seaview Pool Vi...

This resort is perched on northern tip of the Naka Island with commanding views of the nearby Phuket island as well as the isles on Phang Nga bay making it a thoroughly scenic experience!

Grounds are sprawling and you'll need a buggy or bike to access your villas which are strewn all over the lush and richly landscape grounds. The resort architecture is unique & with a 'fantasy-island' feel & that enhances the overall experience.

The beds are probably the best I've slept on but not the super fluffy pillows as I prefer mine rather slim and flat. The turn down service is thoroughly one of the best and most attentive I've experienced. Kudos to the housekeeping team for remembering all the small details. Its impressive.

We dined at both the Tonsai Thai Restaurant and My Grill and both lived up to our expectations. The F&B team was attentive and the recommendations are excellent. A thoroughly great & pleasant experience.

Each individual villa has their own private pool as well as a magnificent public pool the guest can go to just close to the beach front with plenty of lounges available for the guests to laze or sun bathe. Activities wise there's a plenty of beach front activities including kayaking as well as group exercises classes organized for guests which i liked.

Hence I would recommend this resort for either a romantic weekends getaway or simply a place to escape the hustle & bustle of the urban life. It simply transport you to a place where you can pause your life on hold & soak in the beauty of mother-nature with a level of exceptional service which makes this experience unforgettable. I will be definitely be back for more.

We've used Tripadvisor for years but never felt the urge to leave a review until now...

Naka Island is a magical place! Quiet, beautiful, blissful, relaxing and stunning. The beach is lovely with emerald waters and white sand, perfect for lazing all day. The staff is AMAZING (Thank you again, Nina, BeBe, David and Eric for everything). Always a smile and so helpful. The Villas are huge and well designed with private pools, heavenly bed, outdoor bath and stunning views! Every meal was wonderful, a perfect mix of western and thai. The cocktails- some of the best we've ever had. The Spa was lovely with a beautiful layout and a peaceful vibe. All our treatments were wonderful and my husband did not want to leave.

Naka Island will always have a special place in our hearts as we were married there in April 2013. We couldn't have asked for better... Really! If you are planning a wedding, event or looking for that perfect luxury holiday... this is your place.. and believe me... we looked at A LOT of places for months and months.

My husband and I love this place.. and we cannot wait to visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Villa 42. Perfect mix of Tropical feel with views of Phang Nga Bay and the ocean.
