“Perfect destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2006

We stayed at the Rex for almost two weeks in October/November 2006 and we also had our wedding. No stress, complete relaxation, very romantic. We loved it and we had a great time!

The Rex Grenadian Resort is a luxurious, comfortable, clean, first class hotel with an international atmosphere and it’s the perfect choice in case you want to have unforgettable holidays in Grenada. The hotel has a superb location in one of the finest areas of Grenada. It’s situated only 5 miles from the capital St.-Georges’s and moments from one of the finest beaches of the island.

The hotel combines mountains and sea while it is found between the verdurous mountains of Grenada and the deep blue Caribbean Sea. Imagine a wonderland surrounded by beautiful palm trees and colourful gardens. The swimmingpool is set in a perfect location overlooking the beach. You can sit here in the evenings with a refreshing drink and watch the shimmering sunset dip into azure Caribbean Sea. High quality service, very friendly atmosphere with the interest that shows to its visitors and its irreproachable services.

We went all inclusive and the food was excellent! Two restaurants: International and Oriental. Comfortable and stylish rooms and suites, tastefully designed and furnished, with splendid view. Ideal for wedding couples. Grenadian hospitality with very efficient, fluent English speaking staff, doing all they can to make their visitors happy.

I’m sure this hotel will impress you very much.

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Rex Grenadian from August 2-6, 2006 while I attended to business in Grenada. The business was easy; the relaxation was the delightful surprise. This became an unexpected and very refreshing oasis for us because of the quality of the facilities and the excellent service by all of the staff. The rooms were most comfortable and clean, the seaside view was inspiring, and the amenities were impeccable. Great lounge and musical entertainment, very clean and inviting pool facilities, enjoyable recreational opportunities, and the restaurant meals offered variety and excellent presentation and quality. Most impressive was the care and atention to detail provided by all of the staff. Generous smiles and personal warmth made us feel most welcome and valued. This will be a great place to come back to and to spend more time. A sincere thank you to General Manager Ken Flockhart and his staff team!

We have just returned from two weeks at Grenadian by Rex Resort and throughly enjoyed it.

On arrival reception was very efficient and Ken Flockhart the General Manager was there to greet us.

The management and staff could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We had a seaview room overlooking the hotel's lake and the sea. The lake and well kept gardens had a lot of wildlife including sea turtles, iguanas, lizards, crabs and many different birds.

We spent a lot of time snorkelling just off the beach where there were many different and colourful fish to be seen.

During our stay the food was excellent and the chefs and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our holiday was excellent value for money and we will hopefully return to Grenadian by Rex Resort soon.

Our first impressions of this Hotel were mixed, we received a warm welcome from the Hotel Manager Ken. Then we were shown to our first room with a seaview ,which was very disappointing. It had a dirty bathroom with no hot water and noisy air-conditioning. After speaking to reception, we were immediately shown two rooms, which we could choose from. Both rooms were clean and of a higher standard. We were very comfortable for the rest of our stay. This room had efficient air conditioning and a comfortable large double bed. The room was cleaned every day. Though the complimentary toiletries in the bathroom only consisted of hand soap, shampoo and conditioner, no bath/shower gel.

The food at the Rex is ample and of good quality. We went all inclusive and I would definitely recommend the house cocktails! There is also a Rum Punch Party once a week by the pool. The International Restaurant is where all the meals are served, it is a self service buffet style. The staff are very quick to attend to your table whatever the need.

The hotel is situated less than 10 minutes drive from the airport, and a taxi or bus ride from Grand Anse Beach or St. Georges. It has a beautiful sandy beach with a reef just off it, which was great for snorkelling. There is a pool bar, which also over looks the beach.

One of the reasons for coming to Grenada was to go scuba diving. We decided to use the Dive Centre at the Hotel, Devotion 2 Ocean run by Ruth and Andrew. All dive sites are within 20 minutes boat ride. There is a good selection of wrecks, of which the Bianca C is the most famous. Also drift dives over reefs covered in soft corals and sponges. All the sites have plenty of fish life. I was lucky enough to see eagle rays, nurse sharks and my first seahorse. We found the centre professional in its approach and would highly recommend them. They also provide the Hotel's water sports facilities which include : mask and snorkel hire, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, windsurfing and water skiing. Tuition is also available.

We made two trips out from the Hotel, booked through our helpful rep Andrea, from St. James Travel. The first was a half day boat trip to see whales and dolphins off the Grenadian Coast, unfortunately we did not see any. The second excursion was into the Rainforest in the middle of the Island to see the beautiful Seven Sisters Waterfall. This is down steep slopes into the valley and sensible walking foot wear is a must. The guide's extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna made this trip very interesting.

In all we thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at the Rex in October 2006. It is lovely to watch the sunset over the beautiful beach. The staff are very welcoming and can not do enough to help you. This hotel is a quiet haven for a very relaxing holiday. I would highly recommend it.

We have just returned from spending two weeks at this hotel. It was our second time and even more enjoyable than the first.
The management and staff could not be more friendly or helpful the food was excellent which all went to making this holiday so enjoyable.
The island it self is beautiful and the people are so friendly i would recommend this island and especially this hotel to any one think of going to the Carribean.

We stayed at the Rex for 5days in August/Sept 06 for my sisters Wedding. This is the 2nd time I stayed at the Rex. The first time was in June 2001. I must stay that the Rex has improved considerably in all aspects, but most notably in the food departmant. I wouldn't have recommended the Rex after my first stay however I will do now. The only let down we had was in the lunch service on one occasion. The chef Adil is doing a wonderful job. (He told me he trained at Claridges in London)

Please do not expect a 5 star hotel. This is 4 star hotel and price reflects this and is good quality and value compared to some of other hotels/guest houses on the island.

We stayed in a beach front room and found it quick nice & comfortable. However the sea can be quite rough and slippery when entering the water. And at the time when we stayed it felt that we had the beach completely to ourselves, which was great (as the hotel occupancy was only about 30%).

To sum up, this is a good hotel, well run and good value. We will definitely return when we next visit Grenada.

We weren't sure what to expect of this newly re-opened survivor of Hurrican Ivan, but were really really sad to leave at the end of the 2 weeks we stayed there in August.

Whilst its probably not the best news for the hotel, occupancy was very very low during this period and we benefitted from excellent service and attention from all the staff.

Its a hotel that suits kids of all ages, in our case aged 10 to 75.

The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the dive shop ( "D2O" or Devotion to OCean as it is known). The biggest wreck in the Caribbean, an Italian cruise vessel is located 3 minutes, yes thats right, three minutes out to sea from the dive shop ( next to the pool and bar complex). Ruth the dive shop owner, runs the place with a bristling and freindly efficiency that is splendid to see. The team is helpful and attentive at all times.

The wildlife was great, spotted eagle rays, black tips, many many turtles and loads of barracuda and lobster made this a real treat to dive.

I just with I'd taken my underwater cameras as well as the dive gear which was a last minute " oh I guess I might as well take it then...." sort of decision.

And a tip. Go for the "All inclusive" option at the hotel.

Grenada is now served by BA, Virgin and Exel once a week each from the UK. I know which is my favourite..... ( thanks Sir Richard)
and my brother and his family had some interesting experiences getting there with Exel, but were handsomely and fully compensated for their grief and loss of sleep and holiday time, so full marks to Exel.

Ken Flockhart the hotels GM throws a great cocktail party each Monday evening and the calypso guys are genuinely musical and funny. Good fun.

Everyone at the hotel is attentive and seems to be pleased to be there. There are of course the omni-present beach vendors, but even they seem to be kept in tow and in the background here.

Loved the island. Loved the hotel. Loved the people. Can't wait to go back.......
