“Stanwix Park Silloth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Just back from a weeks break with out dog Chloe. I couldnt believe how 'dog friendly' both the park and the town of Silloth is which is wonderful. Stayed in a chalet and it was comfortable and fairly clean, could have been a bit cleaner. The oven and grill pan were dirty and i complained and they right away replaced it . Also the pull down sofa bed 's mattress was done and I mentioned that on the first night i couldnt sleep on it as i felt every spring digging into me. No sooner said that they brought along a brand new mattress and i slept well from then on. The facilities are first class, the indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and gym are excellent and everything is at hand and cleanliness is ACE The dunes bar is great, open everynight with a bingo game or two and entertainment. The restaurant and cafe is also first class and the shop was well stocked. You can hire bike, play crazy golf or tennis . The staff are the BEST I have ever come across , really friendly, really helpful and very pleasant and kind. I have been before and will definately will be back. I was reluctant to leave. There are plenty walks around and the beach is not that far to walk to either. Silloth itself is a friendly little town and extremely dog friendly . The weather was good when i was there last week apart from a couple of day. I will be back

Room Tip: corner apartments are the biggest and the best

We stayed at stanwix during the first may bank holiday week via a sun holiday offer. Our upgraded caravan was well specified with full gas central heating and a decent pressure shower. It was clean and relatively spacious. The park was dead when we went and we never bothered paying the exorbitant fee for the entertainment. Good job as I don't think there was anything going on. The location is a bit far from the main Lake District towns and hills (1.5hours from Windermere) unless you are happy to drive. The only problem we had was the boiler kept going into a fail safe mode which meant I had to reset it every morning to get any heat or hot water. As the weather was quite warm it wasn't an issue for us but I am sure it would have got sorted.
As a base for the lakes we were happy with it certainly for the price we paid.

This is the second time at the park, Just spent 4 night here in the touring pitches with 3 other families which is really good being in a super pitch but its very cramped and not a lot of room to get out, our pitch wasn’t too bad as we were there before it filled up so backed onto the road.

The only complaints we had about shower blocks was no soap to was hands ( basic stuff to provide), and showers were OK if you were in first, if you were on the toilet next to the shower then the water comes under and into your cubicle but apart from that clean.
The Indoor pool is great for the kids but changing rooms needed to be mopped more due to the amount of people using the pool but this is nothing to worry about, Never used the outdoor pool but looked great as the weather was good
The entertainment at night was OK but the best night was the Malkys Magic show, Foxy fox was ok but again same as most people say not long enough for the kids, Music was played over & over again along with the Girl singing heard her twice in 4 days so a bit much, not a moan just saying there was also a young lad on stage that would look happier being somewhere else( Smile it’s a kids place)
Never heard much noise after midnight but is that not people enjoying them self?? ( this is a loud to happen when on a Holiday)
The Bowling was good and well-priced i thought apart from a few lanes had problems but staff were good to help with this.
The decor and seating could be done with a freshen up but that’s what happens when there are so many people using the place

Will return again as good for a break

I've just returned from Stanwix Park Holiday centre in Silloth & really do not have much to complain about the weather was brilliant which in such a cosy, friendly wee town makes the scenery & landscape look stunning, the site itself was very good, great swimming pool inside & outside, mixed changing rooms are a bit of a silly idea though, staff & locals very friendly no complaints there, the one thing I found extremely disappointing was the night entertainment for the children, car crash would be an understatement, "Foxy fox" would make an appearance for maybe 10-15 mins at the most, do a couple of dances with the kids then disappear, also half the time "Foxy fox didn't look interested a bit boring & lacked interaction, also the staff, DJ's & Entertainment staff seemed a bit clueless from playing countless Pink Floyd songs at a kids disco, A mean cmon you are meant to be entertaining the kids not making them fall asleep, also they kept constantly making mistakes with the music, curtains, lights etc, such a shame too because the sky room where this is all held has such potential to be a great little venue that could hold so much more fun activities if the staff put that bit more effort in, also I think the entertainment began very late, Some of the kids were only 2 & 3 year old & had to wait til 9-9.30 before Foxy Fox even came on! With a few little changes & a bit more common sense used when it comes to kids entertainment this Holiday Park would be perfect, A little gem in a great wee area but cmon Stanwix get the night entertainment sorted.

Room Tip: Moonstone caravans were very clean & big enough for a family of 5 no problem 6 would be a bit of...

Stopped here in our touring caravan over the bank holiday weekend so the touring pitches were almost full.
We have a standard 5 berth van and a porch awning and the pitch was way too small - and there is no room for your car at the side of the pitch either.
Also the pitches are crammed in so close to each other - but we managed ok.
The facilities here are great - indoor & outdoor pools, bowling, disco, bike hire etc.
Showers way too hot for kids though - and no hand wash provided in the toilets!!!
Noise levels in the early hours were a bit of a problem as people made their way back to their vans.
On the whole though it was enjoyable and we would visit again.

Just spent a week here in a touring caravan, it's a lovely site with great facilities but the touring pitches are very small and cramped with not enough room for a car, caravan and awning in the Criffell area.

Now for the good stuff, the pool is lovely and warm and was never over busy even over the bank holiday weekend but not much room in the charging rooms, plenty of childrens entertainment in the evenings and lots of different bars, arcades and seating areas. Nice play area and crazy golf, could do with a lick of paint but all perfectly functional. This is a quiet park we never really got disturbed at night as is very family orientated and seemed to have younger children rather then teenagers.

We traveled with some friends who have a disabled child and they found the disabled facilities great.

The shower blocks were always warm and very clean, as was the whole park and central area so overall we had a great time and would return

One point for families if you want a change of scenery go into Silloth and in the trees behind the RNLI is a fabulous park/trim trail and little water play area with water squirters, fountains and buckets that tip overhead so take towels and a change of clothes for the kids as mine loved it here and it's all free!

Stayed in the Stanwix park holiday centre for a weekend break. It was a lovely park with plenty to do for the children. The park was clean and well maintained as was the static cravan we stayed in. The children enjoyed the pool and the bowling. There is a small park on the site but it is quite old and could be improved we found some nicer parks off the site in Silloth and Maryport which were both worth a visit. The children enjoyed the evening entertainment especially meeting Foxy Fox. This caravan site is worth a visit and I think we would happily visit again.
