“Day trip along the a Wild a Coast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

We took a family day trip up to Trennery's across the ferry from Kei Mouth. Easy access, friendly staff, really nice lunch for both adults and kids. Facilities appear well maintained, prices reasonable and the number of patrons who seem regulars here indicate this to be winner for family holidays. Easy beach access, lots of playground equipment for the small fry.

Room Tip: Didn't stay over.

If you are looking for pretentious, over-priced luxury accommodation with wall-to-wall Internet and a fridge in every room, Trennerys is NOT the place for you. But if you want to experience the Wild Coast in a rustic family holiday setting, you will enjoy the welcome break from bling bling and plasma-induced miasma. The trip with Trevor up the Qolora River is a must. Again, get used to rustic. This is the Wild Coast in all its natural splendour. Don't expect the Cote d'Azur. Also beware of the unmarked suspension-wrenching speed bumps on the botched R56 million road upgrade on the way to the hotel.

Nice resort with very friendly staff.
It is very good for relaxing and seems to be
also suitable for kids.
The beach is quite nice, sand with some rocks.
The access road is bad but seems to be currently paved.

The service was excellent - the cleaning staff and waitering/bar staff were very professional and efficient! The food was AMAZING, better than other 5 star establishments we have visited. Absolutely impressed with the food! The room had lovely decor but a few things seemed old (rusted mirror), wonky door handle etc. Nothing too serious though! The bar and pool area is a definite highlight for Trennery's - the bar is beautiful and well-stocked and the pool area and lights at night are absolutely stunning! We loved that we could get to the beach so easily and that it, and the route to Trennery's, is so scenic! Rich in culture, and quite isolated from the rest of the busy world! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay :)

Had a brilliant 3 nights and the cute thatched cabins were private and very clean, the Oktoberfest didn't disappoint and was the best night of the 2 weeks traveling around SA. The food was beautiful and different every night and the different meats available to try we're excellent. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and is breath taking. The waterfall and activities available were thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely visit again.

The buildings might be old , but the rooms are spacious , clean and comfortably furnished ! That goes for all other facilities like the bar , lounge and dining room .The food was more than 5* !!! Just superb ! Very accommodating staff , it felt like family ! Whatever requests we had , they went out of their way to accommodate you. Excellent set up for families, groups and even the sole traveller will feel at home with lots to do. Will go back for sure .

We only stayed at this hotel for 1 night, but we were quite disappointed. For the price, a lot of other hotels we stayed at during our 3 week tour of South Africa provided a lot more value! The rooms were very old and worn, the food was only OK (which is sub-optimal in South Africa where food is genereally great!) and the facilities not very well maintained. It really feels like this hotel is relying on the fact that it's the only hotel in that particular area (with generally limited competition on the Wild Coast) and on its stunning surroundings rather than improving with time. It wasn't terrible or particularly dirty (though the bathrooms weren't sparkling) but I wouldn't stay there again.
