Staff was helpful and made our stay enjoyable. The view is stunning and out of this world. Loved reading the stories on the wall by means of photos. Will recommend it to everyone looking for a nice getaway.

We enjoyed 1 night at the fernery and it was lovely, not cheap but nice views and good service. The fishing, cycling or just enjoying the view. Bring your own braai meat if you stay in the selfcatering chalets, the provided braai dinner @ R200 a person is quite expensive is you 3 or more people.

Incredible destination to celebrate my God-daughters nuptials. April 2013
Setting was idyllic
Accommodation top notch
Staff, efficient, friendly and attentive.
Angelique the hotel manager;what can I say?
Superwoman, doesn't just go the extra mile - the extra marathon. Planning and executing a wedding with ease and the precision of a diamond cutter. Quite simply the best.

Very happy memories of an exceptional holiday.

Dear KarenG

A BIG thank you for posting this wonderful review on TripAdvisor.

It was a honor to host such a beautiful wedding in such a unique venue!!

The best service is given by employees who are fiercely proud of their workplace and enjoy their jobs as a result. We try ever-so-hard to take as good care of our employees as our guests. And it shows.

We can't wait to welcome you and your entire family back at The Fernery Lodge & Chalets, till next time Kind regards and best wishes, The Fernery Lodge & Chalets team

This was the second visit for my husband and I to the Fernery, the first being 3 years prior on our first wedding anniversary. The first time we stayed in one of the chalets, but this time we stayed in the honeymoon suite as a added gift for my birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful as we remembered, and the facilities and atmosphere were amazing as we had remembered as well.

However a few aspects have prevented me from giving 5 stars in my review. Seeing as you are quite some distance from any shops, and can't pop out to get your own, we would have liked to have been given the option of ordering snacks (crisps etc) during the afternoon, during those peckish moments, however we were told that only the reception area had snacks, which was far from the lodge and already closed.

In addition, our mini-bar was empty besides a bottle of pink champagne. Although I'm sure we could order anything we wanted for the room, it would have been nice to have the usual assortment of drinks, juices, chocolates and bottled water that you usually find when staying at an establishment with a 4 star rating.

Lastly there was no cellular reception anywhere in the lodge and no wi-fi either (even though the welcome pack stated that there was wifi in the pool bar). As a business owners the lack of connectivity was a major problem as our stay was during part of the week.

Dear LailaC
Thank you for your constructive review to our TripAdvisor community. We are delighted that you are one of our many returning guests and we are happy that your general experience was a good one.
We are always thankful and grateful to read feedback as it allows us to meet all our valued guests needs. We have noted the comments on the snacks and minibar….thank you for that!
We are painfully aware of the ongoing problem we have with cellphone and Wi-Fi reception....this unfortunately is tricky because of our location, however, you can be assured that we are constantly looking for new and upcoming technology to assist us with this problem.
We hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Kind regards Angelique Drake

I spent 11 days here for a Family wedding in April. It was incredible, everything about it. I spent most of my time living in one of the Luxury Chalets (Jacana) and it was simply outstanding. The staff were so friendly and reliable, the scenery was beautiful and the whole experience was just breathtaking.
Angelique, the hotel manager provided us with the best service I have ever experienced. She went above and beyond anything we could have imagined and 1000% pulled out ALL the stops, and although she was a professional, it seemed like she was our friend completely supporting us through the inevitable stress of a wedding.
We had everything do do with the wedding in the Fernery and its grounds ; from hen do and entertaining the grooms family to reception, and special day itself. It was FANTASTIC.
The Fernery have thought of everything, providing a Brai (bbq) with every chalet, and even helping us out when we had bought the wrong travel adaptors.
The pool on deck was never empty and the jacuzzi looking out over the amazing South African coast definitely needs to be used.
So much stress and potential problems were removed from us and I cant thank the staff and Angelique enough for this amazing experience.

10/10

Room Tip: If you're willing to pay then the luxury chalets are SO worth it.

We spend 3 nights at The Fernery, it was part of one of their specials, it was wonderful. I read the comment of the industrial look.....we took time to look at what the ladies do in the packshed and ask some of the Fernery staff to tell us about what it was they were doing, we found it to be very interesting.
We had light meals and picnic and a braai, food was always plenty and tastefull.
The staff makes the Fernery, and everybody is always willing to help with questions, this place will see us again when in this area for sure.

Room Tip: Go on the hike the lookout deck - view is amazing
