Will be worth the money spend if rooms were updated and everything in good working order. With very smart places to stay on their doorstep, I will rather pass by next time.

We heard about the "Family Madness Weekend" special from a friend. From the moment we arrived, and after receiving a warm welcome from friendly and helpful staff, we began to relax. Our cabin was perfect with lovely clean white towels and bedding. All the usual toiletries (plenty), tea, coffee etc. TV and cellphone reception was good. It was a cold wet weekend, and even though there was no airconditioning in our cabin - there was a heater which we did not need to use. The lodge offers a warm cosy environment with staff who are clearly all happy to be there. The food was excellent - breakfast was amazing. The downside of this was that we ate far too much!! We went on the "Striptease Walk", but did not finish as it was very wet and muddy. We were sad to leave, but will definitely be back soon. We highly recommend this "Family Madness" Weekend Special.

Room Tip: If you are a couple staying on your own for a weekend away from it all, ask for a cabin away from &q...

We stayed at the Lodge for 4 nights on the Mid Week special at the beginning of May, and can honestly say that it was one of our best holidays in years (fantastic value for money). We’ve visited every year for three years and will definitely return. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to assist us (including cleaning and heating the bottles for our 7 month old baby- a life saver). Buffet meals were enjoyable and included a good variety. Rooms were tastefully decorated. Thoroughly enjoyed the walks in nearby forest, and the complimentary beauty treatments at the spa (really added to our relaxing experience).

We stayed at the Tsitsikamma Lodge, located within Storms River and we can say for four city boys this was a very good experience. The accommodation we stayed in was called the Oceanettes, and it was a cabin that provided accommodation for four adults, had a lounge, bathroom and a small kitchen area. The accommodation had a traditional cabin feel and had an idyllic element that made you believe you were well away from city life. The accommodation was of a very good standard, although the bedrooms were small they were comfortable, the lounge was basic with no usual amenities and the kitchen was small but provided us with somewhere to make warm drinks and keep the beers chilled.
The reason it is called the Oceanettes is that it is literally on the edge of land, we could hear the ocean crashing against the rocks just a few feet away, not a place to go swimming but some breathtaking scenery. We undertook both walking treks, one which was fairly easy allowing for a more dynamic view of the ocean crashing against land, and the other rather more difficult trek to see the waterfall. Being brave city boys we decided to ignore warning signs detailing advice against setting off times, but we made it back in one piece and saw some amazing sites, including the waterfall, caves and unique wildlife, but I must warn you to avoid this when travelling with young children.

The restaurant, shops and general facilities are all good, but as there is nothing in the vicinity we did end up driving to nearby Plettenberg bay for dinner, which does have a fine selection of restaurants in the marina area.

If planning on a short 2 – 3 day stay I would recommend the hotel, it was excellent value for money and a great place to enjoy the tranquillity of South Africa.

On arriving at Tsitsikamma, we nearly drove past the entrance as the sign boards are right ontop of the entrance...and not before the bridge to warn you of the impending turn off the the right coming from PE...of which we did express to the recption staff...

We stayed here for 2 nights end of April and took a package with Zip Lining....what an awesome experience and the guides where excellent and its close to the Lodge....we had a spa treatment in the afternoon and a braai in the evening...the garden cottage was open plan, we gout used to it...we had a lovely breakfast on both mornings...a very nice spread.

I would use the package deals only when I go back to that area....as it more cost effective for those on a budget....and it central to all the other activities and sightings....

Our stay started with a warm welcome at the reception. The rooms are spacious and can comfortably accomodate 3 children. We found the accomodation neat, clean and well stocked with toiletries and towels. The restaurant was found to have a cosy atmosphere. The food was really great , especially having a full meal plan, which included a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff at the lodge were friendly and professional. The place is well kept and neat. There are also quite a varitey of games for kids including a person to oversee them.

Stayed there for two nights mid of March 2012. We had pre-booked a so-called luxury cabin and fully paid in advance by credit card. Nevertheless at Check-In my wife's and my passports were copied and I had to sign a form regarding the lodges's exclusion of liability and including my and my wife's liability as a countermove. Nowhere in the world did I ever experience a check-in procedure like that. Poor guys, you must have made really sad experiences.

The Tsitsikamma Lodge is located next to the N2 which gives you the impression that cars and trucks are driving more or less through your sleeping room.

Our cabin heated up badly during the day and the low-performance aircon was not able to cool down the cabin. This was even worsened by bright light that illuminated the grounds during the night and so illuminated the inside of our cabin, too. The combination of heat and light inside the cabin made it practically impossible to sleep.

The walking trails around the lodge were in poor condition.

Dinner was not a buffet but a set menu which was not to our taste. So we went to Marilyn's 60's Diner in Storms River on two consecutive nights, which I can absolutely recommend.

The only positive I can say about Tsitsikamma Lodge is the breakfast. Breakfast was buffet style with an adequate choice and breakfast items were of good quality. Staff at breakfast was friendly and efficient.

Stay at the Storms River Mouth Restcamp, which will be a much better option and the restaurants in Storms River can be reached as easily as from the Tsitsikamma Lodge.
