“The heart of Eastern Cape's Adventure and fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

When i got to the backpackers i was given a warm welcome from a lot of smiling faces of the backpacker's staff! The first night i stayed in their tent beds, its amazing a very unique stile of camping! I had a nice neat double bed in the tent, in a tree!the backpackers is very neat, lovely fashioned and very smart. The second day i was staying in an En suite bedroom, they have good quality linen and their rooms are very cosy and lovely decorated. The make lovely in house meals, i remember the Sunday roast, guys i would definitely remember your yummy meals! There is also a lot of great activities that they offer and arrange for you, so for travellers who would love to do a lot of adventure tours, this is the best place to be. My first day i did Canopy Tours, it was marvellous, i had always been scared of heights but i have never felt safer at the way the guides handled us. The second day i did a massive bunjy jump! And of course i am writing this review now, that means the rope did not break up while i was in the air!
Thank you so much Tube'n Axe Team, Garven, Natasha, Marius, it was very lovely meeting you! Soso i will definitely look forward to hosting you when you come to Cape Town, i will remember your beautiful smiles! Freddy you are amazing, you totally ran around and made sure i did all the tours, and that i had a beautiful stay. You made it so easy, i hope to see you again soon!
Keep up the good service Team!

I liked the feel of Tube n Axe - with its picturesque surroundings, it provided very affordable and sociable accommodation ranging from private rooms to tented camps, to camping. Bar, pool table, activity centre and laundry service all available.

I stayed in a private double room which was actually quite small (just enough space for the bed only!), and not very well aerated unless windows were kept open, yet the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower was outdoors in a covered bamboo cabin; actually a lot of fun as you could watch the world at head level whilst showering. There were also perhaps even nicer ablutions for the campers.

Good value for money for the area.

I traveled with 2 other girls in South Africa and all three of us agreed that this was our favourite backpackers lodge. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect for being on an adventure in Africa and it was a great place to socialize & have drinks. We didn't have any issues with this lodge and wished we could have spent more time here!

We were in a large party and only staying one night , we all had dinner which was very nice and not very expensive.
The bar area and bonfire are a relaxing area to sit and have a beer after a long day travelling, was a shame just to spend one night

we were 3 couples staying at the Backpackers, on arrival we were met with friendly staff who immediately made us feel so welsome, rustic and beatulully decorated i could not believe that this is actually a back packers. the rooms took my breath away as it was like walking into a guest house, there are many meal options, great food with an amazing evening vibe and bond fire outside.

thank you guys for a wonderful stay i do recommend not paying hotel prices when you can stay at a place like Tube N Axe with awesome accommodation at less the price.

fantastic staff and wonderful owner who you can see takes pride in his work. a birdie told us that he does everything himself including the building. very very impressive

thanks guys and we will see you soon on our next visit

Room Tip: take the double rooms, however the dorm rooms are just as nice

Had a lovely few days here with wonderful staff, lively fun bar, good food available, activities organised and great and clean accommodation.

Rooms looked lovely but we stayed in the raised tent which if you like that kind of thing is great fun, very cheap and a memorable experience.

Try the bungee - an AMAZING experience! Though check the water levels before booking tubing. It was too shallow when we did it so not that much fun, unless you enjoy jumping into the river from lots of different jumps including a tree!

Room Tip: Try the tent for something different and fun!
