“Looking a little tired for this up market chain”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Called with my wife recently, I've bee going for several years but it definitely needs a makeover. The staff are always attentive and welcoming, called on Sunday, early evening it wasn't as busy as I though. It was a bit grubby, around the toilet area and it was, by the smell, unmistakeable a toilet. Back to the food. I had a beautiful walnut and pear salad my wife had the chicken liver pâté both were very good although a little too much pâté for a starter. I had the Porchetta I felt this had been cooked in individual slices rather than carved from the joint it would rate it as OK, there was no crispy crackling as mentioned on the menu, the crispy roast potatoes were sad and very greasy, I had one left the rest. My wife had a starter seafood risotto which was very good and the portion was enough, at £80 for two certainly it wasn't value for money. This is one act that needs smartening up.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Five of us went on Sunday afternoon. Service was great, very attentive and certainly not slow as some have previously stated. Food was hot and tasty and nicely presented.
We used to go a lot when we lived in the area and when it had it's previous name of La Locanda.
Have walked past the restaurant in York many times and it never really inspired us to go in, but this experience has made us want to try so will give it a go.
It's not cheap but every once in a while will be good for a treat.

“Good franchise Italian”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I've eaten here about half a dozen times now, and I have never suffered (or seen others suffer) the kind of poor service I've seen mentioned in some reviews. The staff have been unfailingly polite, and while the menu doesn't change very often, the food itself is excellent, the monkfish tail cooked on the bone, and the brasato (slow-cooked beef) being particularly memorable.

“The real McCoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Really authentic Italian restaurant in pleasant, riverside setting near to Wetherby. Oozes class in all respects. Perhaps a little lacking in ambience although that didn't bother us as a family visiting on a Sunday afternoon.

“Slow service and dry food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Our party of 5 arrived at 7pm on a Thursday night. Our starters arrived at 8.15pm and our main courses nearly 2 hrs after arriving at 9pm. The service was very poor - we didn't stay for pudding!
One starter arrived incomplete and two of the pizza main courses were dried out and tasteless. Won't be going back.
