Stayed for 6 nights at the Melati hotel having stayed for 7 nights at another hotel rated at 3 star. And my honest opinion was while the first hotel lacked fixings and fittings it made up for it with great value for money and very friendy staff.

Our stay at the melati was lovely but everything seemed so overpriced we had a bottle of water 500ml with our meal only to find it latter on our bill at 80 bhat gasoline is only 40 baht. In many hotels they give water free at the table. Am sure this will get viewed by Melati staff but they really should review some of their prices.

Dear welshguy67,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor. Your comments are duly noted, even more so that they have been made in two consecutive reviews.
We were very sorry to learn that your stay with us was not as enjoyable as it could have been. As customer service remains our top priority, feedback such as yours enables us to improve our service, facilities and therefore we are very grateful to you for bringing them to our attention.

Nevertheless, some of the issues raised may have been blown slightly out of proportion. While our prices for mineral water may seem high to you, we do offer the same if not more competitive prices as any resort of the same rating. May I also point out that the price of gasoline from a street stall hardly compares to the price of water in a 5 star resort.

That being said, on behalf of the management, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We would also take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage. We hope to welcome you again,

With Warmest Regards,

This is one of the nicest hotels of this type we have stayed in and have very little that is not in its favour. Our room was well appointed, very quiet with a lovely private pool which was well maintained on a daily basis, even though the jets were a little temperamental. the attention to detail adds a lovely touch as the room was serviced twice daily and any request is dealt with promptly and politely. one slight irritation is that there are no ice cubes in the fridge even though they have plenty of alcohol in the mini bar and we had to ring room service all the time and request ice. although not exactly a hardship, it would make more sense to have a small ice tray in the freezer compartment in the fridge.
A further point in the hotel's favour is that many of the staff speak very good English but also a variety of other languages as well so it is very easy to communicate with the locals and they are all extremely friendly. The food is good but I think they need a couple more restaurants for a resort of this size as there are really only two so choice is limited.
the pool area is lovely, clean and with plenty of sunbeds so you don't have to get down at 6am to claim your spot!

We were sorry to have to come home but hopefully we will return in the near future.

We note many staff had difficulty speaking English but then our Thai is not all that good either. A few smiles, some hand gestures and some guesswork made conversation easy. We were well rewarded with excellent service by staff who were only too pleased to assist in every way and went out of their way to help. We dined at the resorts restaurant, their more casual bistro by the pool and also ordered room service. All meals were excellent. The breakfast buffet leaves you wanting for nothing! House keeping staff maintain rooms to a very high standard, ground staff are forever manicuring the gardens whilst the beach crew ensure that sea weed is raked daily and the beach kept in pristine condition. The rooms are large well appointed and the beds very comfortable with pillow choices available. The resort is secluded and only a short cab ride to Chaweng and Bo Phut for those who want to do some shopping or enjoy the hastle and bustle of the Friday night market in Bo Phut. Do not stay at this resort if you don't want to be pampered, spoilt or enjoy a totally relaxed holiday in an idealic paradise like environment where all needs are catered for by caring and obliging staff. Our seven day stay was nothing short of magnificent in all regards and we will return at our earliest opportunity. Thanks Melati for making our stay truly memorable.

Our friends and I stayed here for one amazing night as a big splurge during our two week trip in Thailand. It was totally worth it. The See View Pool is amazing, and the service was great. There was a private beach with decent swimming, but the water is a bit cloudy so I would not recommend snorkeling. Our room was huge, with an excellent rainforest shower and outdoor bathtub. The breakfast buffet was great. It's the rainy season and they were having a bit of an issue with mosquitoes, so couldn't enjoy the outdoor patio as much as I would have liked, but it's the tropics so DEET it up or stay indoors.

I travel with my partner, we usually don't take children and avoid places designed for them. I always look for good WiFi, pool with a bar and a good fitness centre.

On this basis we are very happy with the Melati. The WiFi is good, strong signal all throughout the resort and no additional fee. There are facilities for kids but they aren't right in your face and one of the pools is child free! Yea! The fitness centre is good by local standards. Certainly useable. There are plenty of photos of the pool so you can see that it's quite good. I never felt like I would have to fight for a deck chair as there are plenty and even more on the beach which is good and was safe to swim while we were there.

The pathways are interesting... If you were a bit unsteady on your feet they could be a problem for you as the stones are a bit uneven, they do look good though.

The room, standard, was good in size and made up quickly every day. They do a good job of the cleaning. Bathroom and shower is large.

Staff are all very nice, some of the dining staff are still getting the hang of attending to guests but they seem to be trying their best.

We stayed at the Melati for 7 nights in the first part of honeymoon to Thailand and it was fantastic! From start to finish the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and we were always met with a smile.

We stayed in a garden pool villa and were welcomed by a honeymoon welcome on our bed in petals and a bottle of sparkling wine which was lovely. The room was large and we had are own mini pool which was great for relaxing in when we wanted a bit of time on our own. Housekeeping were amazing, they not only Kept our room clean but would also tidy it for us and leave us a treat from the chef every evening.

The hotel gardens and grounds are kept immaculate, the pool was great, plenty of sun loungers either by the pool or on the beach and always a waiter on hand to help you with the brolly if you want it up or down! Happy hour is a must!

After reading some previous reviews I would disagree and say the staff were great by the pool and on the beach! They were always on hand if you wanted assistance and would come round at happy hour to save you walking to the bar but didn't badger you to keep buying drinks, I think they got the balance spot on!

As for price, the Melati is a 5 star resort and we found their prices consistent with other hotels in Koh Samui, in fact we visited the Sixth Sense hotel (another 5 star hotel) for dinning on the rocks (worth a trip for dinner) and found that their drinks were more expansive than at the Melati. And of course you get the added luxury, the Hotel taxi is a new spacious air conditioned mini van! We visited Chang Mai and Bangkok after Koh Samui and found that it is more expensive in Koh Samui in general but this is expected on a holiday island!

Location was great, only 15 min taxi from Chewang but far enough away to have your own little bit of paradise on the island! After a long hot days sight seeing we couldn't wait to be return to the calm and luxury that is the Melati! We also enjoyed the seeing the people envious faces when you get dropped off after a trip, we were told many times that our hotel looked amazing and asked what it was like.

Overall I would recommend the Melati to anyone and am confident you would have a great time! The only feedback we had was that their was no diet coke in the mini bar, which turns out to be quite c'mon in Thailand and the Manager even took the time to write me an email explaining why they don't have it any more! Apparently no one really drank it which is fair enough, maybe it's just a British thing but this shows the level of service the the Melati has! A fantastic resort!

Melati Beach Resort and Spa is a gorgeous place to holiday, we were there for 7 nights, we had our own little private pool and villa which was so so stunningly decorated and comes with an enormous - actually the biggest King size bed we have ever slept in, and it was incredibly comfortable! Breakfast was also an amazing feast, you quite literally can get anything you want or need and the staff are so willing to help you at any time with anything you need. I cannot rave about the staff enough, they are all so so lovely and so incredibly polite and courteous.

The pool bar is fantastic, they have a happy hour twice a day (thats 2 for one), and they run around serving up drinks to everyone, so sweet, we enjoyed their strawberry and banana smoothies with masses of crushed ice, and they make a really great pina colada!

Although this is not an island resort that you could do much snorkelling the water seems constantly heavily cloudy but there are day visits you can do out to a national park, we did not go there so I cannot rate that, as we did not want to spend a day where it takes about 2 hours by speed boat each way to get there when we only had 6 days to really relax.

We did hire motor bikes and that was an absolute blast, at $10. for 24 hours it is worth the fun ride! The spa treatments there in the resort are really great, I also had a few treatment poolside, actually I preferred this as you get the lovely sea breezes at the same time. Although you can get very cheap massages in the local town Chaweng, we tried "Glorias" a few times the women there were lovely too, but the Melati Spa is so much better it is worth paying the extra for location and better treatments.

There are two big swimming pools, the ocean view pool is the best, it is a gorgeous huge pool that appears to connect to the sea, and has a bar in it that you can sit up at and sip away at your cocktails.

The chef at Melati is unbelievably good, we ate at their restaurant by the sea a number of times at night, and every lunch time, and of course the breakfasts, but the food is really superb!

Room Tip: Get the room with a private little pool, it is very hot there and it is romantic an refreshing to go...
