“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Stayed for 2 nights at the Fisherman's Village. Great place to stay, not expensive and a really good location. Good rooms and lots of nice restaurants nearby. Go to the Karma Sutra for breakfast on the corner as they do really nice food and its a great place to sit on the corner and watch the busy street. Friday evening is the street market so its really busy.

Faultless hotel with the most helpful manageress. We had an amazing seaview room, and were then upgraded to the even better ground floor room with the jacuzzi and direct access to the beach from your patio when we returned after a trip to another island, for the same price. Result!

The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculate, and the staff or owner will sort out laundry, taxis, ferry tickets for you at no additional cost.

Bophut itself is lovely small resort, and we would definitely go back to L'Hacienda if we return to Koh Samui

Room Tip: The sea view rooms are lovely with a nice balcony, but the ground floor with the jacuzzi is great to...

We stayed at the L'hacienda for 4 weeks in a seview room .....looking out our window to the beach past the private outdoor spa. The room has fans and airconditioning(split system) great bed and ensuite with a fridge. Lovely fresh linen and tastefully decorated, tiled floors. I cannot express how grateful we are to June the receptionist for her welcoming presence and Jolan the manager. Any time we needed advice or services they happily organised anything from washing taxis or local advice. being picked up by taxi arranged from the hotel to our pick up and return to the airport 4 weeks later I cannot express enough gratitude to how they gave us wonderful memories from our time in Thailand. A big thanks to all the staff and we will be back ...loved the Friday night walking streets there :) ........highly recommend a stay from my husband and I who insisted on 5 stars in Australia , I rate this place regards Bronlyn

This small hotel in Fishermans Village Bophut is very romantic, beautiful and the room with sea view is fantastic.
Nice small pool with jacuzzi on the roof. The lady at the reception but also the son of the French owner were very friendly and helpful. the only thing which could be better is the beach near the hotel. The sea is not very clean so its better to chose another beach for swimming. for example Chaweng or Meanam.

Room Tip: chose room with sea view

Stayed one night at the end of our holiday prior to flight home. Only paid about £50 for great room - 2 steps down to beach with open air jacuzzi bath on verandah. If you go to Fishermans Village make sure you stay over a Friday Night as this is the evening they have the 'walking street'. Whole area turns into a great night market, for clothes, souveniers, food and drink. Definitely shouldn't have drunk all those mojitos the night before the flight home!!
Didn't see much of staff, but check in was just fine. Didn't have breakfast as left at 4am. They ordered a taxi for us, which turned up as arranged to KS airport. Nice little pool on the roof, and lovely beach just steps from your room. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the lower rooms right on the beach.

We expected a little more from this 'Lonely Planet Recommended' stay. I's like they know they're recommended and don't feel like they need to put in the efford to stay great.
The staff is not the friendliest and the room not the cleanest.
We wanted a taxi at 7.15 pm, but the lady at the reception looked at the clock and said it wasn't possible to make that call anymore...so no taxi. We had to walk to find one on our own.
The rooftop pool is small, it looks bigger in the pictures.
It was ok for a few nights but wouldn't stay here for a week.

I was wowed by the photos on the website for this hotel, but the reality was very different.

We arrived two hours later than planned after a nightmare journey and were greeted by a rude woman who snapped at us for being late, and then directed us the other Hacienda building a couple of doors down, where the man at reception was pretty unhelpful. Our twin bed room was simple and cramped, and most bizarrely didn't have a door on the en suite bathroom, which was inexplicable and annoying. The air con was very loud, too, and there was no window except a tiny square in the bathroom through which you could just see the sea.

We were allowed to visit the swimming pool in the main Hacienda building, but it was very small and crowded.

This would be a one-star review if it weren't for the breakfast (which you have to pay for), which was tasty, and the great location in Fisherman's Village, which was fun to explore. It wasn't a nice stay, but it wasn't as expensive as much of the nearby accommodation. Why Lonely Planet raves about this place I don't know.
