“good for couples , separate bungalow layout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

We stayed for 6 days , all very nice , close to beach ( 100 metres) , rooms are ok , all wood panelling , electric shower and adequate . Staff helpful and rooms clean. WIFI signal is very weak so you have to sit outside to get signal as router is by swimming pool

Room Tip: opt for deluxe room / chalet

Great place to stay. Awesome pools. Very friendly staff and awesome location with restaurant right on the beach. Quiet village area with everything you need in walking distance - bars, shops, spas, restaurants. It's like a high end holiday village. The 2 bedroom villa was great value for money - spacious, quiet, air-conditioned, mini bar. Water pressure could be improved but that's about it. Food in the restaurant great. Breakfast buffet basic but good. Safe and water / ice safe to drink. Would and will go back any day. Great for families and did not have to worry about noise with two 4.5 year old. Two great pool with kids area etc.

Room Tip: Villas at the back quieter but longer walk to main pool. There is a great pool at the back but it...

I am a regular visitor to Smile House and I try to visit twice a year. It is a fabulous location at the Fisherman's Village in Bohput. The accomodation is fine and the two swimming pools are well maintained and enjoyable. The well kept gardens are a main feature and create a relaxing atmosphere. Despite the incredible view from the restaurant the breakfast is boring and not up to standard. The support items to eggs are not good enough and the bread is stale and tasteless. The restaurant service is very poor and staff are slow to clear tables and look like they are so bored and unhappy in their job. Everything considered I think it is good value and well worth a visit it is just frustrating that with small adjustment it could be even better.

Stayed at the Smile House Resort for 12 nights in Sept 2012. We had previously made a booking at the Samui Palm Beach Resort, but between making the booking and leaving to go on holiday we had read a whole number of bad reviews of Samui Palm, so we booked Smile House as a backup just in case things turned out to be as bad at Samui Palm as everyone said. Anyway we took one look at the Samui Palm and decided to stay at Smile House instead. Best decision of the holiday to be honest !

Things got off to a good start on our arrival. We got to the hotel several hours before the appointed check in time, but when we mentioned that we had been travelling all day the receptionist got on the case and allowed us to check in early. As people have mentioned before the location and setting of the hotel is ideal - right next to Fisherman's village and consisting of a number of bungalows set in lush gardens.

Things were all pretty low key really. The only time we really talked to the staff were when we checked in and out and to say hello at breakfast each day. Otherwise they pretty much just let you get on with it. No drinks service round the pool or anything like that, but actually thats not always a bad thing.

We stayed in the most basic bungalow (the Superior) but it was fine for us, and actually was better in real life than it looked in the photos I'd seen.

During our stay I would say that the hotel was only about a third full (mainly Brits and Scandanavians from what I could work out) so it was pretty easy to find somewhere to relax away from the odd screaming kid when we needed to !

Not much else to say really - breakfast each day was ok - nothing to write home about, but you certainly couldn't beat the view from the restaurant (which did nice food in the evening I should add) and the staff were friendly. If I could change one thing I would maybe suggest that they could provide tea and coffee supplies in the room (seeing as there is a kettle and cups) but then there is a 7-11 just round the corner I guess.

Would stay here again.

SMILE House Resort - oh what an irony! Where other Thai hotels goes for polite staff that greets you with a smile, this resort has gone for the complete opposite. Smiles seems to be prohibited for reception personnel. We had decided to spend the last week of our holiday at Smile, and went there to have a look at the Family Chalet the day before our planned stay. The woman seemed like she did not like to be bothered with potential guests, although this was in the low season with very few guests at the resort. She tried to get us to leave with an information brochure but when we insisted on seeing the rooms, she reluctantly followed us. She didn't talk to us, didn't show us any of their facilities, and after we had seen the rooms, she just left. So we left as well. In a country where the general quality of service is so high, there is no reason to accept rude staff.

(The rooms seemed okay, by the way. Dark, and in need for fresher air, but considering the price and the area, it would probably be a nice place to stay if the reception staff where given hospitality training and/or a considerable dose of prozac)

Our first reaction was WOW. We had booked the 3 bedroom villa (all with ensuites). We were surprised at the generous size of the rooms. The rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towel & pool towels daily. The villa is opposite one of the pools. The surrounding gardens are immaculately groomed. The admin staff were always helpful.
The restaurant staff always made us very welcome, all meals at the restaurant were fresh and really tasty (breakfast is included in the price). The restaurant overlooks the beach, but no rooms in the resort overlook the beach (but that was not a problem for us).
The barman was a real character and always ready to make a new cocktail. We felt very honoured that he came to say goodbye to us.
Smile House also do laundry at a very reasonable charge - all items returned pressed and smelling very fresh (same day service)
During our stay we met Mr "Smile House" - what a lovely man, he is very proud of is resort and plans to keep it "just as it is" .... no high-rise for him. We also met his son, a lovely young man, who also works in the resort.
I would definitely recommend this resort, especially if you have children. But book early as their bookings are filling very quickly.

Room Tip: very comfortable air conditioned room (some air cons a little noisy) If you are a health fanatic...

We had a fantastic stay here. We were picked up at the airport and once we checked in we were escorted to our beautiful room. Sheets, towels, bathroom etc changed daily unless otherwise requested. The staff were tremendous - friendly, helpful, obliging - couldn't speak more highly of them. Beautiful place, the grounds the pool all so well taken care of. Perfect for families, friends, couples and anyone wanting to get away to the most perfect holiday destination and accommodation. I don't think anyone of the party we were with had anything other than positive things to say about the place - perfect!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great - quiet, not to far from the pool, shady, clean and cool - bit like having y...
