“Great for relaxation away from the crowds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

Friendly hotel on an isolated beach with wonderful view. Comfortable bungalow rooms, nice pools, great beachside bar! Kayaks and jetski hire on the beach. Breakfasts very good, restaurant ok, but not enough variety for more than a few evenings. Only a few minutes in a taxi to the main resorts - but taxi fares expensive for Thailand (min 400B, about £8) - scooter hire at 200B/day was an exciting alternative! We'll go back!!

- price worth quality
- great customer service but not very good English speaking skills but you can tell they are trying
- on the beach (not a busy beach which is great for couples) and a beautiful view
- restaurant food is really good but a bit pricey
- the room/villa is sooo nice but the water is not hot, can be cold for some
- Mosquitos in the front lobby but none to worry about when you have a room with beachfront view
- wifi is a bit slow
- location is far from many things but there is a scooter rental across the hotel for 200 baht per day

Avoid this resort like the proverbial plague!! Along with another couple my husband and I spent four days at Araya Buri. At first sighting things looked great; very pretty shrubs and plants gave a real tropical isle feel, the beach looked gorgeous and our chalets were at the Jacuzzi pool. We put our luggage in the rooms and wandered down to the beach. At this point we realised that we had landed next to a huge construction site; at least three buildings were being erected just above 'our' beach. The noise from the jack hammers was horrendous - too loud to hold a conversation. This went on from 9 30 a.m. until 5 30 p.m. every day. We paid a fortune to book tours and hire a car to enable us to get away all day. Our intention had been to relax on the beach after a hectic 7 days in Phuket. There was no sign of management during our stay, and when we did complain to a staff member we were met with a shrug and a surly 'nothing I can do'. Overall the staff were disinterested and unfriendly with almost no English spoken.
Our chalet was no. 612 lovely comfortable beds, 2 3/4 beds, but filthy bathroom. Big cobweb above the sink and the window frame caked in grime and insect webs/nests.
The restaurant was very good in the evening (as long as you stick to Thai food - my pizza was a disaster!) but the breakfast was mediocre at best. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and tried their best but, again, no sign of management.
Had there been no construction, this resort would have been perfect for a few days R and R; far from the madding crowd and quiet with 2 great pools and a beach. We could have lived with disinterested staff and the odd cobweb!

This resort is quite nice for couples as its far from crowded chaweng beach but at same time there is nothing near it except some eating joints which are again atleast 1-2 km.
the staff is friendly not too good not too bad there is a 7-11 and family mart near main road to buy beer n all and near them there are some food joints which offer good food at reasonable price.
we were there during new year and they took 2800 which didt included any drinks, the programme was ok but they could have done much much better in all aspects.
but still we enjoyed a lot ;)
PS : dont for get to visit their jacuzi pool its really fun nmuch more private and cleaner than their main pool.

Room Tip: Ask for the bungalow which is sea facing ;)

We stayed here for 2 nights on the way to/from Koh Tao - it's close to the airport (15 min drive) & Maenam pier (20 min). It's tucked away with not much around so we ate at the hotel - the food & drinks were very good! We had villa 206 (Deluxe)& 101 (Grand Deluxe on the beach) - 206 was older & full of Mosquitos; 101 was better since it is on the beach at the very far end. I had originally also reserved a beach villa but was told that the hotel was overbooked so they gave me 206 instead. Overall the resort is quite old & needs an update in everything - but since we stayed for only 1 night each time it was OK especially given we paid $130 per night incl. breakfast & extra bed for a family of 4 - I was more than satisfied with the value (villa with a private beach!) that we got. The private beach was nice but a bit rough. Overall I would recommend it but probably not for long stays...

Room Tip: Pay a bit extra for the beach villas - totally worth it!

Located on secret beach this resort is well hidden from everything. It is in the middle of nowhere. If you want to relax away from noisy Chaleng Beach Arayaburi is a good choise. Nice private villas has everything for your needs. The resort is a little bit old, so here you can't find luxury. Good value for money. In december and january wheather in this bay is so windy.

Room Tip: Choose deluxe villas on 2-3-4 row from beach, because on first line is windy.

I am sorry for giving late feedback for my booking back in March, 2013.

but i just have to write one

My business colleague and I booked a room with 2 beds, thinking that we could use 4 days of relaxation (after a long convention in Bangkok) on a beautiful island. We arrived at the hotel at around 8 o’clock at night. The reception girl did speak a little English, and explained to us that there is only 1 room available with 1 king size bed.

Showing her a copy of our reservation, that clearly stated 1 room, 2 beds, and breakfast, didn't help a bit. do you have a roll away bed for one night asked?

We tried to explain to her that that is not going to work. She was trying to convince us that it’s only for 1 night, and tomorrow we will change the room.do you have a roll away bed for one night asked? the answer was "no, sorry they are all in use we have many family's now"
Again, we explained to her that we will not even spend 1 night together in 1 bed. Showing her a copy of our reservation again, that clearly stated 1 room, 2 beds, and breakfast, she still wasn't helpful, or trying to be nice. i asked her to speak with the manager, her answer was sure you can……. only tomorrow morning.

To make a long, aggravating, sweaty and unpleasant story short, she called us a taxi, and we booked a room for triple the amount (since it was a last minute booking) at another hotel. We wasted almost 4 hours of our vacation/relaxation time speaking to the wall. No options or any alternatives were offered. It was clearly take it or leave it, we are fully booked and there is nothing I can do.

can i use my laptop to contact my travel agent? no WiFi connection now she said.

I do a lot of traveling, and things do not always work out or go smoothly when booking from overseas/online. But almost always, I was able to work things out, or compromise, but not this time.
A good hotel, no matter the size, location, or amount of stars, will always do it’s best to solve a problem and somehow compensate an unhappy guest, especially when it’s not the guest’s fault, but not this time. not this hotel.

Did she really expect me to share a bed with another man? ? ? :)

my suggestion,,,, don't go there, no service, no management, no internet, far from every thing, taxi will come in 30 minutes do to the distance,

Room Tip: go to another hotel is the best tip i can give you
