“Once you've seen one temple you've seen them all!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

The temple is quite tranquil although they have made sure the locals have capitalised on the tourism and it is surrounded by cheap market stalls offering the same thing you can get anywhere else in Thailand. The monks and their followers are lovely people. You are ale to be blessed by a monk. Ladies make sure you wear something respectable or bring a scarf to cover yourself up with. This attraction requires no more then 30 minutes of your time. It is easy to get to no matter where you are on the island.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

The cultural buildings and the beauty of this place is amazing! One has to remember its culture and the meaning of this place for locals and any Buddhist! It's not just a land mark, it is historical and has deep meaning for some.
It certainly did for us and we are not Buddhist. Spent an hour here enjoying the peacefulness. We went early.

“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

From the other reviews we thought this Big Buddha would be worth seeing, in a way it is, but there isn't much to the place, you can do it in under half an hour or so. Best time to do it is around 6pm in conjunction with the fisherman's village. In comparison to the big Buddha in Bangkok, its about a third as impressive. You can make a small donation and ring the bells at the top which is pretty cool.

“Worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

It wasn't the most impressive temple we saw in Thailand but it was still beautiful and well worth a visit. The size and construction is incredible. Very easy to get to from all parts of ko samui.
Beautiful views from the top of Buddha.
Buddha under some construction so a bit messy up the top with equipment.
Make the time to go and see!

“Fanstastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Fantastic, climbing roughly 60 stairs to get to the top, beautiful views and also able to ring bells... At bottom of big budhha, u are able to give a donation and sign, brick, roof tiles for renovates, this meaning your name will be in that building, which i think is a cool thing... Theirs also a fruit and veg market nearby, make sure you take a wonder, beautiful fresh produce...
