“Sensational Flavours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

We visited Cafe 69 based on the Trip Advisor Reviews and weren't disappointed. We have just returned from two weeks in Thailand and this was our number one restaurant. We enjoyed it so much we visited the restaurant twice during our 6 night stay in Koh Samui. The decor is lively and the owner is very friendly and eager to please.
Our favourite dishes were the Green Curry Pie which was an explosion of beautiful flavours and the Duck Money Bags closely followed. In saying that we enjoyed many other choices from the menu.
We dined on the second night with our American friends and together their were 4 adults and 6 children ranging from 10 - 17 in age. The kids also enjoyed the meal and loved the fruit juices and banana fritters. It was great value for money.
I recommend you book in advance as it is small and gets booked out.

“Still outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

It has been two years since we first visited Cafe 69, and the host Vivian. I did not think the food could be improved upon since last time, however the food this time made our mouths water. The green curry chicken pie with mango was divine, black pepper soft shell crab was amazing to name a few. The outstanding of all, if I had to choose would be the braised beef , which was heavenly.
You need to make reservations as they are booked up a few days in advance. We returned two days later and ordered takeaway for the whole family.

“Needy owner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

The pros:

The food was excellent for what we ordered.
The staff were extremely friendly.
The atmosphere was excellent.
The owner Vivian made us feel welcome.

The cons:

The food was as some have said, to be very overpriced for what it is.
The owner kept coming back to question us on his food rather then let us enjoy the moment whilst we ate our food, which became tiresome.
Some things appear on your plate that were not on the menu (which frightened me as I have a good allergy after ordering vegetable spring rolls) for example prawns appearing that aren't on the menu under what I ordered.

“Little bit different......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Visited 69 twice during our stay in Samui - truly excellent food with a couple of different twists on the old favourites. Highly recommend the Green Curry Pie, Crab Rolls and the Duck Massaman Curry.

Staff very friendly (especially owner/chef Vivian) - extremely good value for money - hope to go back one day!

Don't let the fact it's on the main road put you off!

“Amazeballs!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2014

Just amazing Thai fusion food and one of the best meals I have had at a Thai restaurant (including Nahm at the Metropolitan).

Food here is thai staples served with a twist and everything from the green curry pie to the duck breast and the banana fritters was delicious. The service was exceptional and Vivian took the time to speak with us and talk us through the menu.

The decor is pretty kitsch but the food is the highlight here (we were so disappointed when we couldn't make it back the next day for lunch). Great food, great service all at a great price. We will definitely be back next time we are in Ko Samui.
