“Fell short of expectations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

This restaurant has a gorgeous location with a renowned chef etc but didn`t quite match expectations. The service is very slow and amateur which in Thailand is very rare. There didn`t seem to be enough staff and they were not well trained, we waited ages for everything and when they brought the main course they had not yet cleared the starter plates and instead of taking them away they just moved them to one side! When we ordered something the waiter would remove one dish or glass from the table as he left instead of everything . The waiters were friendly but knew nothing about the wines etc and their English wasn`t good which you expect in small roadside places but not in a gastronomic restaurant . In fact of all the places we ate from super cheap out of the way places to average European geared restaurants, the standard of service was the most poor here. The food was good but didn`t take any risks and the portion sizes were tiny, we ordered a cheese selection after the main meal and the triangles of cheese were no bigger than my pinky nail and the waiter could`t tell us what the various cheeses were or where they came from which is the norm in a good restaurant. Also the wine list was very disappointing considering this is billed as a gastronomic style restaurant . The position of the restaurant is perfect, sea view terrace etc but we felt that for the prices we paid the overall experience should have been much more polished.

This restaurant was in our hotel, so a natural first choice. Not a meal for those on a tight budget, but relatively a good value for the impeccable service and tasty cuisine. The atmosphere is serene for a moonlight dinner, great service. We ate here twice, the first and the last nights. A must!

“French? Great thai!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Ordered a green duck curry, a chicken stir fry and a prawn and lemon grass salad. All amazing with the curry being the highlight. One of the most tender and juicy servings of duck iv ever had. Definately worth a visit.

“Everything about Hansar is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

We went there on and off during our stay when we just wanted a lovely meal without going out…probably a dozen times... It really does have a world class chef and each course is perfect. We did not once send anything back which we have and will do when travelling overseas...never at the Hansar… trustworthy professional service, top class dishes every time…totally fantastic dining experience totally recommended

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

The food was very good had a nice romantic dinner wit my wife, personally the portions are to small for me and also quiet expensive for what you get, but said that the taste and presentation was great. Service should take more attention. Than it would be a great evening.
