“Modern”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

This hotel is definitely a 5stars hotel because:
- very BIG and BEAUTIFUL rooms.
- modern and new
- good restaurant
- excellent breakfast with nice view on the sea
- SPA
- clean and big pool
- in the Fisherman's village

BUT:
- our room (an XL with sea view, was terribly smelling MOLD (we tried everything: keeping the big window open, air conditioning all day or dry mode...)
- beach is not clean
- sea is surrounded by boats and sea scooters
- you have to cross a small road to reach the beach
- SPA is too expensive (2000 thb for a massage!)

If you want to have good sea and nice view, relax, this is NOT the hotel for you.
If you want to have nightlife, better Chaweng area

TOO expensive

After 3 days I changed to a better hotel in a different location

Room Tip: XL sea view room is huge, but a sea view is ok too.

I holidayed at Hansar Samui with a couple of other girlfriends only a week ago for 8 nights. This was our second trip to Samui (we stayed at Centara Grand at Chewang last time) and our first staying in BoPhut. After having read all the reviews we picked Hansar but were still slightly nervous because of the 1-2 reviews listing a bad smell and one or 2 other negative comments. In hindsight I shouldnt have been nervous as we had a great stay! And for the record we smelt no bad smells at the hotel!!

Highlights were:
- modern looking rooms (the hotel is not that old)
- the pool and its outlook over the beach and beyond is simply beautiful and easy to relax around all day
- unlimited free bottled water
- friendly and accomodating staff, led by competent manager
- awesome location with fishermen's village a 1-2 minute walk away...its a road by the way with heaps of restaurants and other stores (including fake DVDs etc)
- good airconditioning in rooms

Other comments:
- I agree with other feedback, push for a full ocean view room and also one on the 2nd or 3rd floors (which are really the 1st and 2nd floor as the ground floor is called level 1). Better views!
- limited but new gym with modern equipment, 2 treadmills, 1 bike and 1 cross trainer plus weights and fitballs.
- Don't share a room with a friend as you can see the shower from the bed!
- if you are staying on a friday night the local night market is a must and dont make the mistake we did and eat that night as the food is fantastic and mostly bbq so perfectly safe. Also if you like bbq'd corn on a stick I recommend that.
- At night I'd avoid the trap of stopping for a drink at the hotel bar, if you walk out to the beach and turn right only 50 metres along is a fantastic beachside bar with cushions on the beach and hanging chairs etc....and bartenders who are very generous with servings!
- a lot of couples stay at this hotel but there were also other singles/friends staying there. The age range is probably 30-50.

Overall a lovely trip and we have already agreed to return to Hansar Samui next year!

Room Tip: I agree with other feedback, push for a full ocean view room and also one on the 2nd or 3rd floors...

We stayed at the Hansar in August , The hotel is very modern and attracts a mix of young to middle aged travelers,We found the staff a bit starchy but very friendly . The XL sea view room we had was in a great position oerlooking the pool and Beach .
The food at Breakfast was great very good selection.
All in all a top hotel ,but just didnt give the right vibes to us.

Once again Tripadvisor research paid off. This hotel transpired to be an ideal choice for our honeymoon. Very relaxing with great service from the excellent team of staff in all departments.

Naturally the boys and girls at the Beach Bar attract accolades for their cocktails (we wrote down the recipes of our favourites).

We each had a great and soothing experience in the Spa - although management should look at their pricing as we would have liked to have had more treatments.

Breakfasts were a special feature and the fine dining is only rivalled in Bophut by Zazen (see separate review).

The wonderful infinity pool is obviously a focus, but we were also pleased to use the adjacent beach. We did not find the beach-side road to be an issue - indeed it adds to the atmosphere to have a small number of cheerful vendors passing by.

All the staff were fantastic, but we have to especially thank Marketa, San, Pomb and Note.

Very relaxed place to stay. Right in front of the beach and close to many restaurants and bars. Bedroom are spacious (had the XL one) and very well designed. Terrace in front of the sea is a plus. The only negative was the aircon which was very noisy. Hopefully I succeed to sleep without it. I strongly recommend to stay there.

Superbly located hotel right on a great stretch of beach and next to the old fisherman village of bophut. Five stars in every sense. Brilliant restaurant, friendly staff.

We came early September, fearing the weather would not be ideal. It turned out to be sunny every day. The beach is jot crowded and has many activities (jet ski, boat rental...)

I stayed here late August 2012 with my wife...Really enjoyed the full stay and very little if anything to fault. Wi-fi is free, free water and room spec finished to a high level. The pool is great. Ate at the resteraunt in the hotel one night and was very enjoyable but a tad expensive. The hotel may want to take note that very few people ate in it for diner when we stayed so they may want to look at either lowering prices or have a set menu for a reduced price each evening??? Just a suggestion as I have said I did see very few people dining here and the only answer is COST. Expensive to eat but very nice.

The staff are awesome. Very courteous & helpful to a fault. I liked the proximity to the fishermans village and 10 minutes to the madness of Chaweng if you fancy it. All in all great hotel, good spec and thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

Minor point...too much noise from the air conditioning unit in the hotel. It does disturb your sleep.
