“Great location. Lovely spa resort, lovely management, lovely staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2011

My boyfriend and I just had a fantastic week here. It was the perfect base to chill out and also get back to and totally relax after days out exploring the island.

Accomodation
All levels of room are lovely, spotlessly clean and designed and built to a very high standard. We stayed in a standard seaview room for 2 days and this was a high standard, good size with walk in shower and a decent balcony with day bed for 2 to chill out on. We then moved into the Beach Villa room for the final 5 days and this was, as you would expect, gorgeous and precisely as the pictures on the website show, including the petals in the bath!

Amenities
The infinity pool and the spa are by
far the best amenities on the resort and are both fantastic.

Food
The food is top notch for dinner. The breakfast is pretty good though a bit limited and if you arrive after 9am the food seemed to start to run out or not be replenished quickly enough. We had a fantastic romantic dinner on the beach one evening which was amazing food and service and very good value for money. if you do this, just be aware that people will just wander past on the path and take your photo because it's pretty beautiful!

Service
The service at this hotel must be disassociated from the intentions of the staff. The staff in true Thai style are all lovely, extremely polite and in almost all cases seem very keen to please. Overall the service from the staff is still excellent. The service however is not yet five star, if your definition of five star is defined by other five star experiences in major cities around the world. We had a few niggles which meant I couldn't call it true 5* yet:

- Language was occasionally an issue that created unnecessary frustration when ordering or asking more than a simple question.

- Service at breakfast was generally miserably slow - learnt to expect tea or coffee to arrive by the time you've finished eating your breakfast.

- We were misallocated our room on arrival having payed for an XL Sea View we were initially put in a standard by mistake. After 2 nights we realised there were larger rooms!

However, the manager could not do enough to put this right and did so within 15 minutes of my raising the issue and she compensated us extremely well both with dinner, spa services and upgraded us to the Beach Villa which was superb and over and above what we'd paid for.

Overall
The place is great and as everyone else on here seems to agree, its definitely worth spending your cash here, you won't be disappointed.

Firstly, the unique concept used for the hotel decor shows a good blend of modern design with a touch of natural wooden materials. Second, is the spacious room layout. The entire bath area is combined seemlessly with the bedroom. If you are travelling with children, the room layout may be a little inconvenient for you because there is no door for anything. Thirdly, the pool is simply great. The location on the beach is the most important factor for us. Location at Fisherman Village was great too. Abundance of good restaurants and simple shopping available. The best of Hansar for me and my wife must be the FOOD in H Bistro. Try their Thai menu and you will not wish to eat anywhere else. If you are planning for a total quite and private stay, Hansar may not be most suitable because children will be running around pool area.

Awesome hotel with the best staffs. The hotel is located not only right by the beach with spectacular view from every room of the hotel, but also in the fisher man village which makes it vary convenient. The rooms are nice, cozy and nicely decorated. Comfortable daybed facing the breath taking view with an even more comfortable bed.....love it.

The food there is a "must". The best i've had on the hole island. The spa and the pool are also all so incredible. Great atmosphere and very relaxing.

The friendly and super helpful staffs makes our stay even more pleasant.
all in all, the best vacation ever...
thank you Hansar and all the staffs there.

The location right on the beach is awesome and it's an easy walk into the "fisherman's village" (takes about 2 minutes). The village is more of a series of touristy restaurants and shops but it provides lots of food options and places to stock up on extra drinks / sunscreen / cheap knock-off sunglasses, etc.

The amenities here are really great. The infinity pool is particularly awesome and is one of the few I've seen that looks as good in person as it does on the website. The whole resort is really quite picturesque and rooms are very nice as well.

My only complaint is that the service is sub-par. The hotel manager seemed to systematically ignore my girlfriend and I all week while managing to talk to everyone around us. Also, trying to get any useful information out of anyone working at the front desk was near impossible (unless you speak Thai).

We spent eight nights at the Hansar Samui and had the most wonderful time. Eight nights was the perfect amount of time to de-stress for us, as we were not going anywhere else. Most other guests were there for around four or five nights as part of a multi-centred trip. There is very little to do so if you find it difficult to sit still, this is not the place for you. We had an XL seaview room with the large oval bath in the middle, as well as a rain-shower. Fabulous! The smaller seaview rooms were also lovely, just smaller with a rain-shower only. Very large balconies with day-bed and two rocking chairs, great for reading and relaxing. Stunning views over the pool and sea. The hotel is on three floors but there is no lift, so if you have difficulty with stairs, or have a buggy, do ask for a room on the ground floor. Great free wifi. A stone's throw from the Fisherman's Village which has dozens of great restaurants, Thai, French, Italian, Indian, plus international cuisine. Also beach bars too, but not sleazy in any way. Fab French restaurant in the village is the Gourmandise, not cheap, but amazing skewers of fresh seafood and meat! Really delightful. Mopeds and some cars travel through except on Friday when no motor vehicles are permitted. There were two lovely bars at the hotel, one on the beach and one on the first floor with very large 'double bed' sofas to recline on. The pool is gorgeous, sea water, but not like they used to be! Filtered and clear and not very salty at all. Perhaps better than chlorine!

The room was beautiful with a huge terrace overlooking the pool and the beach. What really made a difference was the friendly and helpful service staff. The resort is also ideally located beside a night street market with plenty of bars, restaurants and local shops. The beach is quiet and relaxing, away for the hustle and bustle of Chaweng beach which is only a short ride away if one seeks a wider variety of 'eye candies' :)

This hotel is almost too good to be true. Good location, nice and modern rooms, friendly and helpful staff, superb food and excellent beach. Some passing traffic is the only drawback. Not a place for partying but well suited for a relaxed week or two for couples and families. Many good (but not as good as in the hotel) restaurants 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel.
