“Lovely creative food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

A very nice meal in a spectacular spot. We didn't have the full tasting menu (too many big meals on our holiday!) but we were able to chose a good variety from the a la carte selection.

“Where are the rocks?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Interesting restaurant - you definitely come here for the deconstructed food which was great. As you are on a deck at night, you don't actually see the rocks or the water, so you might as well be anywhere. Service was good, as was the wine we chose (great wine list), this was the most expensive meal we had during our stay in Samui.

“A unique dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

I surprised my partner on his birthday by booking dinner here. It was quite a trek from our hotel (on the southern tip of the island) but well worth the journey (about 900BT).

We're not ones to indulge in fine dining back home, but I am so glad we went to Dining on the Rocks. Upon arrival at Six Senses (the hotel which hosts the restaurant) we were welcomed and the staff helped us take happy snaps on the edge of the cliff while the sun set behind us. We then took a swing in the love seat while waiting for a golf buggy to take us down to the restaurant. We whizzed by the accommodation (if you have the funds, the hotel looks pretty spectacular!) and soon arrived at Dining on the Rocks.

As the sky began to darken, we sipped a cocktail and watched boats glide along past nearby islands. Two big candles were list on our table, setting a romantic scene. We then ordered a few unique dishes and snacked on yummy sweet bread and dips (complimentary).

We didn't choose a buffet (they were all a little too seafood-centric) and instead picked out a few dishes from the a la carte menu. From memory we had the 'burrito', the 'gnocci' and the delicious chocolate dessert and cream brule. Every dish was an artistic venture, using the name of the dish as inspiration to create something new. Be warned - the gnocci isn't actually pasta!

We sipped more cocktails and came out with about a AU$160 bill. Which, for an amazing setting, many rounds of cocktails and top quality food, was an absolute bargain.

For a special occasion (or any occasion really), definitely give Dining on the Rocks a go.

Thanks to the other reviewers on here who gave helpful insights and convinced me to book a table!

“Worst value ever experienced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

My love wanted only the best for my 44th birthday that happened to be at the same time we were on Koh Samui. So even if the restaurant was rated "Very pricey", she said "Let's go for a treat"... We took the 6 services set menu along with wine and food pairing. The only serving we REALLY appreciated was the Chestnut smoked salmon. The wine pairing was not well done either for almost all the servings. One wine was even tasting like gazoline... We were supposed to have Port to accompany the desert and they didn't have port anymore so the served us Muscat wine. With that said, I would be dishonest not to mention that the location and environment are absolutely lovely.

“Fine dining with a view...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

Tried out the ten-dish menu. And was not disappointed. Creative cooking. And the sunset-view was breathtaking. (we were heretter in september 2008, not 2011... But that option was not possible in this reviewpage)
