This hotel has an unfortunate unpersonal atmosphere and the staff, while being competant, do not have a provide a welcoming environment. The hotel is also very biased towards German tourists - the hotel's guide to local activities and sights is available in Portugese and German but not English!
But do not let me put you off; it is a very good hotel and the facilities are first class. It is almost certainly the best hotel in the area. Especially the restaurant which is two minute stroll from the main hotel. The food has quality and the rustic charm one finds in most Madeiran restaurants and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
If you want to stay in the area then stay here, but don't expect a warm welcome!
