“Lovely location and delicious cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

Antanos has the luck to be located in one of Atenas' old historic wooden houses. Refurbished and repainted a joyful yellow, the house is gorgeous. Make sure to notice the floor, which is called "mosaico" and are concrete tiles power-pressed with color for their patterns.

The cuisine is delicious here, and the tables are usually all full. Go early! The mammoth-sized watermelon juice is my favorite drink. Best food items include the Asian chicken, the Monterrey chicken, sea bass - both garlic and also breaded, the fajitas and the traditional plate called a "casado."

Love your coffee? Ask for the big mug and you'll be there at least an hour sipping blissfully!

“Only average food in a cute house in Atenas”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This was second time at Antanos and unfortunately it has not improved. It was okay the first time but this time it went down a couple more notches. I ordered a glass of Cabernet wine and it was very warm and tasted like it had been open a couple days. The fried fish plate was overlooked. Fish was dry and slightly burnt. Another person in the group had a different plate that included fish and it was also dry and overlooked. The hamburger was not up to par with other burgers in town. They need to improve the quality of their food and find a chef. Also do a better job storing the wine.

“Great atmosphere, ok food and service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

The restaurant is in a cute older home and has sort of a bistro feel to it. We arrived on a slow night and waited 20 min before even being greeted. The server was friendly and patient with our attempts at the language, but it took three reminders to get our beverages. Honestly I can't remember what we ordered, it was that basic. For the price, I'd recommend going elsewhere but if you're looking for one of the more romantic spots in the city, this is a good place.

“Cute place but just average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

I was hoping Antanos would be good enough to add to our "list", but it wasn't really that great. The owners have done a nice job, restoring this typical home, right in the center of downtown ( it's right around the corner from Don Tadeos). There is also a nice bar. However, the food was just very average and not very flavorful. I had the Casado Chuleta and my wife had the Pollo. The food quality was just average and prices are pretty average too. There are better options in Atenas.

“Very nice, quaint..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

We ate here twice and it was very good both times. The food was good and reasonably priced. Our waitress was very friendly (as most Costa Ricans are!)
