Very hard to find, but well worth it. This small B&B has the most fantastic view you could ever imagine. Our room was small, but clean and comfortable. No TV, just quite at night with stars and lights looking out over the valley. Didn't use the pool but it was available, and breakfast was good. Only spent one night, but is was great.

My wife and two children stayed a night and enjoyed the comfortable and ecological motto of the hotel. Most amenities (hot water, lights) are driven by solar energy and they even have their own water offspring

Pool is not heated but the weather will take case of that.

Affordable prices and a quiet soothing environment (No tv)

We LOVED the view and how secluded it feels despite been close to downtown Atenas

I would only improve the barriers towards the valley since it could be a bit dangerous for kids under 3 (fiber glass or a wooden mesh maybe)

My husband and I spent our last night in Costa Rica in Vista Atenas as it is located very near to the airport in San Jose. The B&B was truly beautiful. The views (see attached pics) were breathtaking, and the property is unbelievably peaceful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable (we stayed in the Delphinus room) and was equipped with fridge, table and coffee/tea station. The common area for dining and relaxing is like a home away from home. The owners are unbelievably friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and filling. On top of all that the price to stay here was very affordable. My husband and I will be definitely staying here again on our next visit to Costa Rica and would highly recommend the B&B to travelers.

Room Tip: I would request a room that overlooks the pool or patio. Quieter and the view from your patio is pos...

We spent 3 nights with Jonathan and he is an excellent host. Breakfast is always lovely and good. We had a great room with private bath. Very clean and comfortable. Jonathan was very eager to help guide our day and set up tours if needed. We enjoyed Friday farm market in town and toured the Cafe el Toledo coffee plantation. A small family run coffee farm that has chosen to go Eco friendly. We even had lunch with the family. Very personal and you get the feeling they are working hard against big corporate companies. We would stay at Vista Atenas again. You do need to pay a cab $5 each time you go to town but the walk off the mountain would be daunting for anyone- which is why Vista Atenas has such beautiful views from the property ( you are on top of a mountain!). The lights at night on the opposite mountain were lovely too.

The view was stunning, the room rates were unbeatable, and the hospitality was on point. Only complaint was that we didn't stay longer. Highly recommend. Careful though, road signs easy to miss. They says Barons on them!! They're black with yellow font. John is the man. Just left today, June 6th 2014.

For the most relating stay in Costa Rica, Vista Atenas is your destination. I stayed there last week and was swept off my feet. Every detail is considered and every need is met. Jonathan will provide you with the best stay possible. From the AWESOME vista views to the welcoming pool... The breakfast is so fresh and the peace is palpable. This was my first trip to CR and I will return and I WILL stay at the Vista Atenas. You awake to fresh coffee and music in the air from the local wild life. From the sun rising over the mountains, to the clouds rolling over and around the mountain top. It's been reported that Atenas, Costa Rica has the BEST weather in the world. I'm a believer!
Thank you Jonathan and I will see you soon...

Room Tip: here's the hook-up... Call Jonathan and tell him you're coming. Then, ask him if he needs a...

Family and friends consisting of six adults stayed here in May 2014. It was a little farther outside of town than expected, however, we were able to call for directions. Travel through Atenas for a few miles, you will pass Rossey's Supper Club on the lefthand side and some condos before seeing the sign for Vista Atenas Bed & Breakfast on the righthand side of the road. You will eventually turn left and travel up a steep hill that veers to the right for the hotel.

We reserved three rooms all equipped nicely with mini fridges and personal coffee makers. Initially, we had only reserved two rooms, however, it was not a problem to reserve the extra room upon arrival. The hotel was very quiet when we arrived. We were greeted by a nice woman named Sadie. The night views of the Central Valley were stunning! The next morning, breakfast was served in the common area. We had fresh fruit, toast with amazing jelly, eggs and a few vegetables. All very delicious and a great way to start the day!

In the morning we were greet by Johnathan who was welcoming and very helpful with travel tips and directions. We stayed at the hotel after doing the Crocodile Tour on the Tarcoles River (about an hour and a half drive) and then proceeded to visit the Poas Volcano (about a two hour drive) before returning to the Guanacaste area.
