“Good experience with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We spent 12 days in the hotel in July with our 2 kids. The hotel organisation is very professional (reception, cleaning, animation and mini club teams). We had no bad point to mention except the lack free places at the swimming pools and on the beach to the fact that people book them early in the morning with their towel. Very good experience with the mini club team who are just perfect with kids (and French speaking). Animation team was frendly but not to invasive and the shows in evenings were of very good level. The variety and quality food was more than one would expect and we had no problem to find a place in the big restaurant (with a beatiful terrace). Free tennis courts if we are all inclusive and you can borrow raquettes and balls.
I would highly recommend it if you are looking for an all inclusive hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was in the main building close to the reception with a view on the sea: we were very satisf...

We stayed here for 1 week in July. The hotel is not near anything so you will need a car. It is about 1 hour drive from either airport and to hire a car for a week is roughly the same as getting a taxi.

The hotel and grounds are very nice staff are also very nice there is no real beach to speak of it is man made and quite small.

The food is good lots of variety and the drinks are fine.

There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance and you can also use the facilities at the sister hotel which is joined to the Creta marine if you are All inclusive.

There is a small land train which will take you to the small fishing village of Panormo which has some Tavernas.

You can also get a bus to Rethymnon which has lots of bars and tavernas and a nice harbour.

We stayed here from 8th July 2012 for a week. We arrived Kate at night and received sandwiches and cakes in our room. Rooms are great we stayed in a VIP bungalow with wonderful sea views room was spacious and the mini bar filled and included in all inclusive the room was always very clean. The food at the hotel was full of choice and varied every day so spoilt for choice and delicious we also visited the a la carte and Mexican restaurants which were set menus but equally good. The staff here are a credit to the hotel hardworking and polite the pool bar staff davour and George worked so hard in the heat also the cleaning staff were constantly cleaning windows and public areas. It's relaxing here we managed to go to the fishing village via train that was a great trip but the heat got to us. The only point that I would make is the lack of air conditioning in public areas and dining room it was desperately needed and we did raise this several times but still way too hit in there. Entertainment team were funny and friendly we didn't really like the shows but that's not our thing but spent evenings on the terrace drinking cocktails reccomend the lemon frozen dakari. This hotel is in my top three as we travel extensively its an achievement!! I've already highly recommended it to friends family and customers go and enjoy its great.

Having stayed at an Iberostar before, we expected excellent accomodation, food and service and we weren't disappointed! The hotel was very clean, the food delicious (we stayed half board) and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We travelled with 2 teenagers (17 and 15) and have never really joined in with animation activities much before but this team were brilliant - Ana, Boris, Crisse, Sebastien, Fabien,Francke, Tsvetsi (sorry if I've spelt the names wrong!- but thankyou). All of us joined in with lots of the activities but never felt pressure to do so. The music can be loud but only maybe 2 times a day and then, just for a short while. We enjoyed the international mix of the hotel - mainly French and German but lots of other nationalities too.
It is true that the salt water pools stung a bit but we got used to it. The hotel is a bit remote but we didn't find it a problem with easy buses into Rethymnon which is well worth a visit for its old town but definitely not for its market. Also the road train to Panormo is good for drinks at night. We hired a car for a few days and travelled all over the island - south to Imbros Gorge and Loutro - definitely worth it but the steepness of the road is not for the faint hearted; Knossos where we had a very experienced and knowledgeable guide and west to Chania - very pretty.
All in all a wonderful trip topped by perfectly hot weather!

Beware we thought the bungalows were just that, but no a block of 10 rooms, there can be a lot stairs and walking with food and entertainment and main pool a walk away.also not all rooms in the main hotel are accessed by lifts even though there are 4 lifts, a lot of rooms are on various levels and only accessed by stairs. we booked on line and that was cool especially we had £400 off brilliant, but if you have any mobility problems you need to book direct with travel agents who can do checks.

Room Tip: the bungalows are a distance from the main hotel for food main pool etc they are 50% on 1st floor le...

Ok so let's get this place into perspective. Having spent a week in a small family run hotel in the old town of Rethymnon, perfectly situated amongst all you need we then took week two of our holiday a 20 minute drive around the coast to Iberostar creta Marine. We had booked Half Board. Met with a good welcome and room ready to move into things got off to a good start. Within the hour we were sat by the "entertainment pool", 20 mins later the music came on.. Very loud and not comfortable. Off we headed to a smaller pool which was much calmer. Don't get me wrong I'm 38 years of age and like a beer and a giggle but it was a bit over the top. Staff are friendly and good with the children, rooms nice and clean although be careful if you expect a Bungalow to be single story. We booked one but found it had a room above, we questioned this but informed we were in the correct room......so not a Bungalow. Swimming pools are salt water, can sting the eyes a little especially of the children. Creta marine Iberostar is situated right next door to the sister hotel Creta Panorama. The grounds are lovely and blend from one to another. Unfortunately for us we were placed in a room (with nice pool view) that seemed to belong to the Panorama. We felt like guests at another hotels pool when sat with our hotel issue towels which were blue unlike all the others that were yellow. The main block of our hotel including restaurant was actually further away than the other hotel......weird. The food was average, big choice so something for everyone but not excellent as I keep reading which is one of the reasons I'm writing my first ever review. We were also surprised to see we had to pay for Beach sun loungers on a hotel owned beach. Four euros each. Also twenty four euros a week for a safety deposit box to keep our valuables safe in their hotel. Wifi five euros per day!!!. Considering in our previous week at Mythos Suites Hotel in Rethymnon all this was free it is obvious that Iberostar now put more emphasis on profit making than customer service. You can get a shuttle for four euros return to the local village of Panormos which is lovely. Get yourself a table at one of the beach front restaurants and watch the sun go down. All in all we had a great holiday in Rethymnon, but would advise people of the isolation of this hotel and suggest visiting the island but keeping options open when choosing accommodation.
Do do do visit the old old town of Rethymnon but be careful if eating, you will find food on the Venetian harbour is more expensive and not as good as it is a street or two behind. Basically you pay for the view!!

We've just come back from 7 days at this hotel. I have to agree with most reviewers and say that it is excellent. We were all inclusive (I'd recommend that), so didn't have any additional expense. The hotel is clean, the rooms cleaned beautifully every day. The staff are helpful and friendly (apart from the woman in the little mini market, who took ignorance to a new level).
I think most rooms have a sea view, we had a great view over the pool and the sea. There is a main pool where all the entertainment takes place throughout the day, and a quieter pool a bit further away. There are sunbeds on the beach but you pay 4 Euros each for these. The entertainment staff are brilliant, but verging on barmy! One afternoon we had a 'chef' chasing a 'chicken' (man in a costume) with a cleaver around the pool. The food is good with lots of choice and the restaurant never seems to be too busy. There seems to be mostly French,German and Russian people there, not many Brits. The only down side of this review is the practice of reserving sunbeds. Lots of them must have been reserved the night before or very, very early in the morning, and then the owners of the towels would turn up at about 10.00 am. This, despite notices on every parasol telling people not to do it and that towels would be removed by management... they never were!
All in all a great place to stay, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a 'crash out' holiday. I would go back.
