“Excellent Hotel - shame about location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

This hotel is hard to fault but will get the negatives out the way first:

Out of the hotel is nothing unless you have transport or pay 20 euros to get to Lindos - we had scooters which were fun but not really recommended for insurance purposes.
The transfers apparently take forever from the airport so allow 75 euros each way for a taxi & get there in under an hour fully refreshed.
The evening meal in the buffet is pretty bland & luke warm at best but selection OK.
The restaurant manager is not very friendly & needs somebody to have a word or replace him.
Reception area is a bit 'airport terminal' & needs atmosphere, music, etc.

Now the good points:
Staff very friendly (except the restaurant manager) - Mihela at the pool bar didn't stop smiling even though she was constantly on the go serving cocktails, beers & shorts. If you sit there long enough, you may even find the odd shot sitting in front of you!!
The rooms are superb - clean, massive beds, mini bar restocked every other day but please remember to put the 'clean my room' tag on the door.
The pool is fresh water so a little cold but great to cool off, massive & there are loads of sunbeds so no 6.00 reserving required. Beach towels are free & can be replaced every other day.
The pool restaurant is better than the evening buffet with good kebabs & is open most of the day (& evening)
Although Lindos is the only real accessible town from the hotel, it is great both during the day & evening. Buzzing shops, bars, restaurants & clubs - Georgio's is a great find for Mojitos & the rooftop bars/restaurants all have views over the town.

All-in-all we had a great time at The Princess Andriana but a week was enough as I would have got cabin-fever staying in the hotel any longer due to its location.

Tip: The Princess Andriana cocktail goes down very easy & is pretty potent!!!

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel - 2nd floor poolside. Great views over the pool area, free internet access (s...

Just returned from a week here, I never usually review hotels but decided this place deserved a great one! Went for a trip with my boyfriend (both 22 y/o) for a week, and booked a 'Honeymoon Suite' with private pool. We rented a car, which I'd definitely recommend so you can explore the island a bit, although driving out there is pretty scary at first! The hotel is about an hour and a half from the airport, presumably this takes longer if you're on a transfer bus. Check-in was quick and you're taken to your room in a little golf buggy, and shown around the resort a bit. The room was great, huge bed, bath/shower, big TV (though not many English channels) and the terrace and private pool were amazing- definitely worth the extra money!

The restaurant 'Medallion' serves a bit of everything- some standard dishes, some more adventurous, though we kept wondering why the food was only lukewarm until we went to dinner earlier one night (7:30 rather than 9:00) and realised the difference is huge. Try to get there before 8 for the best choice, though it is constantly refilled. There is a fountain show at 9:15 every night which is great. The bars each have a different vibe, so the pool bar is more lively with loud music but the lobby bar is nice for a chilled drink after dinner with comfy sofa's. These two are the only places where you can get cocktails- the main restaurant, all day snack bar and beach bar only serve wine or beer (I don't drink beer but am told it was quite good, and the wine was good too.)

The 'Moonlight' restaurant is the A La Carte restaurant you are entitled to visit once per week. It is incredible. We booked to go quite late and sat outside so it was really quiet. Don't panic when you see the prices on the menu- it is all free except your drinks! We were expecting a huge bill but were only charged for the wine- it isn't made very clear that the meal is free for the first time, then I assume the prices are on the menu incase you want to come again (which we very nearly did!) The bar up here is great too, we went twice just for a bit of a change from the usual cocktails.

The beach restaurant is similar to the main restaurant except with a smaller selection, but it's location makes up for it! There is a tunnel under the hotel to the beach (except it's well lit and nicely decorated, not your standard English underpass) and various watersports you can do at the beach. There were always plenty of deckchairs at the beach, and a very chilled atmosphere- both here and at the pool I had no problem leaving my camera under the umbrella- the only people there are guests and everyone's so friendly. Don't think I saw an unhappy face all week!

There were quite a lot of families here but also loads of couples of all ages- they have something for everyone and although the animation team is always around, its definitely a 'do as much, or as little as you like' kind of vibe. The staff are all great, so friendly and willing to help.

I'd recommend the Waterpark in Falaraki (huuuge complex, don't be tricked by the smaller version a few streets before!) We went in the middle of May and didn't have to queue once. Tickets are 22 Euros for 9am to 6pm but we ended up leaving by 4:30- it was so empty that by that point we'd been on everything 10 times and were exhausted.

Also visit Lindos, which is about a 15 minute taxi away (costs 20 Euros) or there is a bus. The town a is beautiful, traditional Greek village, and the beach is a sandy cove, with clear blue sea and rockpool's everywhere. Boat trips go to Rhodes and other places from the beach, but the one we intended to get from Lindos back to the hotel in Kiotari wasn't running this early in the season, so double check before going there intending to get a boat back home!

Overall, I'd say this is pretty much the perfect All Inclusive hotel- they've got it just right. I spent weeks trying to find the perfect holiday and decided on this place, and I am so glad I did! Will definitely 100% be going back next year!

Myself, daughter and 4 year old grand-daughter have just returned from a week stay 15/5/2013. We would highly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. My grand-daughter thoroughly enjoyed going to the play group where they are entertained by Gulia and Sasha from the animation team. The spa facilities are excellent with a large selection of treatments to suit all. While there I paid a visit to the hair salon and had my hair restyled by the young hairdresser who I would highly recommend. Lovely, friendly girl. I cant fault the hotel other than maybe a bit more entertainment in the evening in the way of dancing etc or like they have commented theme nights. If you like to go exploring you can book trips from the office up the road where the little train leaves from. We booked a trip to old and new Rhodes town for 18 euros each at this office and really enjoyed the day. As per some other comments about the food - I found the selection to my satisfaction and of a high quality - breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. The room we had was beautiful and spacious with a sea view and all the toiletries supplied were all natural Greek products. What can you say about the staff but brilliant from the reception to the housemaids to the waiting staff and animation team. First class.

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view - lovely to wake up to in the morning.

We stayed as a group of 4 friends for a week in may.
When we arrived late at night we had been given a king size bed instead of twins and our 2 rooms were not near as we had requested. The decor is excellent with some lovely touches but this was not suitable for someone with mobility difficulties. The pool has steps into it but no rail and was too deep for someone who is short to stand at 1.5 metres through out. This affected the aquarobics until they had tubes delivered to keep you buoyant.
The chairs were too low and difficult to stand up from and when we moved a chair to sit on we were told off like little children by the bar staff. This is no way to treat guests in a 5star hotel.
There were not enough seats in the reception area and we were told off again for trying to take drinks to our rooms which were very near. There are no notices to tell you where the toilets are or what is and is not allowed.
Some of the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant but others need some training in customer relations.
The entertainment staff were good and worked very hard.
The food was repetitive with very poor choice and or poor labelling of vegetarian food and for those who like hot food it was often Luke warm.Despite all these criticisms we had an enjoyable stay but be warned if you go to Marmaris as our friends spent 13.5 hours for only 1.45 hours free time. We would suggest private transfers as it took us nearly 3hours on arrival due to dropping others off at different hotels en route. This was very tiring on top of a dreadful Thomson flight with the smallest leg room possible.

We went for 10 days 1-11 May and the hotel was virtually empty for the first few days. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool which was cleaned every day, mini bar refilled every other day. The pool area is excellent - no-one reserved sunbeds! Beach towels can be changed every 2 days. Animation team were good and not too imposing. The pool bar staff are excellent (especially Jimmy) - often run off their feet but always cheerful. A la carte restaurant very good but they do try to sell you alternative drinks even though you are on all inclusive. Restaurant manager is definitely a little rude and should organise staff better - he should also check people wearing all inclusive bands - we observed the same couple with no bands appear off the street up to 3 times a day in the restaurant and they were never challenged - they never appeared during the day or evening and it was obvious they were not staying there!!! Food OK - must be honest, we usually go 5 star and it appears to be the same food everywhere you go! Plenty of food, hot and cold breakfast (hot only served until 10), lots of salads, meat, fish, desserts but always similar. The hotel has its open private beach, this was lovely and there is also a beach bar/restaurant so you can stay there all day. There is also a separate bar in reception and another outside snack bar by the pool. Entertainment is all outside so I don't know what they do if the weather is bad as there is not enough inside space to sit. I would advise beach shoes as it is pebbly but the sea is lovely and clear and you can snorkel and see lots of fish. Not much in Kiotari itself but there is a bus stop opposite the hotel where you can get the bus to Rhodes town and Lindos. We went to Lindos for 2.5 euro each single, lovely little town where you can visit the acropolis, shop in the tiny cobbled streets and even go uphill on a donkey (donkeys looks well cared for). Buses are air conditioned and comfy. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable holiday and we would definitely consider going again.

Room Tip: We had lovely room overlooking pool - I don't think we would upgrade to one with its own small p...

The Princess Andriana only gets a four star rating from us because we too, like one of the reviews here, experienced being on the receiving end of a very rude Restaurant Manager in the Medallion Restaurant (which is the main buffet restaurant).

We first encountered his terrible attitude on our first day but decided to try and put it behind us.

The Restaurant opens at 6.30 every evening. We entered at 6.35 on our last evening to be met by this man shouting at us to "get out" as the restaurant was not yet ready in the most rude manner! We had, also, it appeared used the wrong entrance and we were loudly berated for this. (There are no signs anywhere to tell you which entrance to use and we had accessed by the outside dining/patio area which everyone used)

The last thing you want to encounter when you go away on a luxury holiday is this sort of behaviour! It leaves a very nasty taste. This man is unpleasant and no matter how nice the rest of the hotel this is what we shall remember!

We stayed in the resort last week for 7 days in a junior suite. The room was fantastic and was up there with 5* resorts around the world. We had a small baby and a cot was provided and also a baby bottle warmer. They did not provide a steriliser but we took the sterilising tablets which were fab! The junior suites are separate to the hotel (not far, around 100 metres) but added that extra touch of luxury.

The room was spotless and had two TV's, a fridge full of drinks (free!) and a luxurious bathroom. We also used the facilities including the tennis courts (a hard and soft court), both were fantastic as they are brand new. We also attempted the cheeky min gold, again free of charge. These were great touches and as we were leaving they were assembling the archery as another facility to use.

The pools were amazing, the suites had their own (shared) private pools, this was in excess of 70 metres long and at its busiest time we saw 3 people in there, everyday it was cleaned and it was a great training asset for those who wanted some swimming training or a nice chill out location if you just wanted to cool down. The main pool was even bigger with a bridge over, another nice touch.

So......... What could be improved?

As most people have commented, the food! I think due to the surroundings and all of the luxury elements, a superior selection of food is expected, sadly it is far from luxury. The meat was very poor, mainly fat and bones, I joked that we were eating sparrow legs! The selection was pretty much the same and we actually found the beach bar the nest place for lunch. Being fair, the breakfast was reasonable but was more of a continental style; there was no cooked breakfast option! I hope they really improve this as it would round off the resort.

The drinks were great but the menu was limited for cocktails etc, we used the Internet with the limited spirits to rustle up some great cocktails such as a espresso martini (except using Irish cream rather than Kahula!). A suggestion would be to increase the selection which could be done with no extra spirits.

At this time of year the main pools are great but not for babies, it would be a nice touch if the indoor pool could allow babies just for an hour a day so they could dip their toes in these earlier months, a simple touch but would help.

The internet is free but only at a very slow speed and 30 minutes at a time, please, please extend this time as it becomes tedious, 24 hrs would help. I imagine very few pay €35 for a week continuos so it could be changed easily.

Again in the colder months, in the evening everyone wants to sit indoors, however, there are not enough seats, some extra seating would help.

These are mainly small points to improve (apart from the food!). Overall a great stay at a great price for May. A clean, new hotel which must be one of the best in Rhodes.

Top tips:-

Hire a car of you want to travel, the transfers can be around 2.5hrs and we hired a car for €90 for the week and saved €60 on transfers. This was great to see old Rhode town and Lindos.

Ask for a pool view as the sea views overlook the roads. The pool views are great and we loved it (and normally we want a sea view room).

Book the al a carte restaurant early, it books up fast!
