Just returned from a wonderful holiday in Georgioupoli and we couldn't recommend Kokolas enough. Rula , Nicos, Frank and Yanni all added to our fabulous holiday. We met some lovely people here and will cherish our memories of our first time at Kokolas but definitely not our last! We hope to return again in the near future. Stevie, Julie and Ollie..

This was our favorite hotel on our 7 day trip to Crete. I almost don't want to give a gushing review because I want to keep this place a secret because its truly a gem! But as others have written and will continue I write, I'm sure, it's the best there is. The place is very nice and comfortable without the hustle and bustle of a major resort. Rula was very welcoming and accommodating. We originally booked the room for one night and after our arrival we decided one night was not enough. The room was beautiful and up to date. We had a nice patio overlooking the pool. The location is only a few minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and supermarket. It's a great location and close to both he sea as well as a 10 minute drive to Lake Kournas which turned out to be one of my favorite spots on Crete. Go figure! We spent our last night in Crete in the hotel and our flight did not leave until 9pm the next evening. Our room was booked for the next night and Rula was so accommodating by allowing us to change to a smaller room to use the day for a late check out. We didn't use the pool but it was quite lovely. We will definitely stay here again on our visit back to Crete.

We found this beautiful place to stay on Tripadvisor and are so happy we did. If you don't want a typical chain hotel stay but want excellent service, clean rooms and a great location this is the place to stay. Rula, Nico and Frank (plus the rest of the family) make every moment special from the time you arrive to the time you leave.
The rooms were very clean with a daily maid service (except Sunday) the towels were changed regularly as are the very soft bead-sheets. There is a small kitchen should you wish to do any cooking (we just used it for tea and coffee) including a 2 ring hob, kettle and toaster plus a fridge to keep things like water nice and cold. The bathroom had a bath and a shower with a hairdryer and although the water would sometimes lose some of the heat (as you would expect) a cooler shower was really more enjoyable. Each room has its own balcony area with an airier to dry your towel/ swim things and a table with chairs for you to eat / drink / enjoy the view, again this area is always very clean and gives you the beautiful views of the flowers that are growing round the resort. There is a small pool with a child's pool which is perfect for a nice cooling dip and there are plenty of sunbeds both in the sun or shade, the entire time we stayed there we were always able to have use of a selection of sun beds and never felt you had to claim your sunbed in the morning. We also paid for breakfast with our room and was glad we did Rula remembered every morning that I liked tea and my Husband liked coffee we always had a fresh glass of orange juice and a good selection of breakfast options including eggs, bacon, Greek sausage, toast or bread with jam butter or honey or yogurt with fruit and honey. Food was always nice and always served with a smile and conversation with Rula. You never feel rushed to finish or order and can enjoy eating whilst the world wakes up around you. On 2 days we had very early starts (before breakfast start of 8am) when we said to Rula about this we were immediately offered a simple breakfast that we could keep in the fridge to have in the morning at this resort is really is all about the service.
The location of the hotel is really very good it is a short walk to Georgioupoli and the many shops and restaurants available is is also a short walk to the beach. There is parking if you hired a car (which we did) and in terms of the local attractions we were ideally placed to be able to drive around and explore the island. Where Kokalas is because it is not right on the beach front means you feel the peace and quiet of the area and also the safety as Rule, Nico or Frank are always there so no-one will be coming into the resort without one of them knowing.

We really couldn't rate this place enough it was simply perfect and more than we expected. We would recommend when you stay you take part in the BBQ although be prepared to get involved. It was such a great way to start our holiday and we genuinely wished we were flying home one day later so we could do it again.

We would recommend to family and friends without hesitation!

Thank you Rule, Nico and Frank for a wonderful stay in your beautiful hotel.

Have just returned from our third visit to. Kokalas Resort and I hope it will not be the last. The rooms are clean and well maintained and have everything you need for a self catering holiday. The pool area I very pretty and full of lovely plants.

Rula, Nico and Frank work hard to make sure everybody has a good time and are always on hand to help.

Our third stay at Kokalas & the best yet. This was a very special holiday as my long term partner & I were getting married there & celebrating my 60th birthday the following week. Eighteen of our party of 28 stayed here & all were impressed by the apartments & lovely atmosphere created by Nikos, Rula, Frank & family. Rula & Nikos made all of the arrangements for the wedding & reception including the musicians, dancers & florist. We were married by Nikos, the Vice Mayor, in the garden by the pool followed by a wonderful party after a day relaxing by the pool. You could not get more laid back & enjoyable wedding day. I will be writing more details about this in the wedding section of the Kokalas information when we have gathered together (& edited) the many photos taken by my husband & guests.
Back to the apartments. They are spacious, very clean & have all the necessary self catering facilities including an electric kettle, toaster & 2 ring hob. We only used the kitchen for preparing snacks & ate several times at Kokalas restaurant where the food is delicious & reasonably priced. Our room had a large bathroom which has a hairdryer. I brought my own travel hairdryer as I don't like to dry my hair in the bathroom. Towels are changed every couple of days & sheets at least twice a week. Unlike a lot of Greek apartments the beds are really comfortable & the pillows are new with not a single lump. When we arrived Anna, the maid, had arranged petals & flowers around the beds, apartment & bathroom & made swans from the towels. Rula had also put a jug of wine & glasses in the fridge as it was a special occasion.
The Cretan night is great fun & good value with great food, unlimited wine & live traditional music & dancers. Everyone joins in & it is a memorable night not to be missed. Rula, Nikos & everyone at Kokalas make everything seem so relaxed & effortless which takes a lot of hard work & organisation. Nothing is a problem.
There is never any shortage of loungers around the pool even when most of the guests spend the day there. The beach is a 5 minute walk form the apartments & is long, sandy & beautiful with lots of good eating places.
We have been holidaying in Greece & the Greek Islands since 1979. Crete is our favourite island & Kokalas & Georgioupolis our favourite place to stay. We have already booked to return next year for 3 weeks.
Thank you again Rula, Nikos & all. See you next year.

thanks to you all again for such a great holiday. Tha accommodation is first class ans spotlessly clean. Made to feel so welcome it was hard to leave to come home, already booking for next year.
Food, especially the waffles and the ice cream by the pool side just amazing.

Whether it is your first visit or your tenth (like ours) you will be instantly welcomed into the family and they will look after you for the entirety of your stay.

The apartments are beautiful, comfortably and spotless. As for the resort I could spend all day by the pool, and with only a short walk to the pool bar for a freshly prepared snack.

The resort is only a few minutes from the beach and the town centre, which will have everything that you need. However if you need something busier you are between two of the biggest cities on the island, only a simple bus ride away.

Personally, I think that the fact that we have been coming for a decade and already looking at next years booking (before we have even left) speaks volumes more than anything that I could write in this review.

Room Tip: I doesn't matter which you get, they are all fantastic
