Upon arrival we were greeted with complaining customers... scary to start with... we waited in reception for two hours due to the slow receptionist dealing with nothing but complaints... finally, we were taken to room no 1, dark, damp, no view, rusty and mouldy shower room, old and tired, which looked like a death trap. Went to ask for another room, as we couldn't stay in that room, it felt like a dungeon hole... 2nd room was lighter, but awful, the balcony had a pool view... the pool was dirty with tide marks of green around it... horrible.... disgusting bathroom that looked dangerous, furniture old, breaking and the walls were all dirty.. 3rd room we were offered was ok ish, but the veranda views were disgusting, with rubbish and holes in the walls and walls falling down, old broken lawn mower stashed outside, no view whatsoever, and again the room was very dark and unclean, with crisps under the bed and surfaces dirty... stayed there one night as the receptionist said she would find us another room the following day as the hotel was full. After eating at the restaurant on the first night, we went for a stroll to find some nice accommodation elsewhere. We paid £ 200 to stay in the Sunlight apartments for six nights, and it was worth it, it was like being in another world! So nice.. what a relief.. couldn't have possibly stayed at the Fereniki hotel if they paid me.. The food was very nice some days, but not a brilliant experience with all the shoving and pushing for food. The floor was dirty, looked like it hadn't had a mop for weeks, with spilt food stains everywhere... The Russians were so rude and would pile their plates up and then leave food. Wished we had gone self-catering, but couldn't afford it as had not budgeted for this, but it was ok. Would never book this hotel again. We were talking to some of the local people in the wine bars and they said they wished it would be knocked down, because it brings down the local area.. Away from this massive complex is a beautiful resort with lovely cafe bars and taverna's and fish restaurants. It is very picturesque with the most beautiful beach around the river. We saw turtles, geese and lots of other wildlife, and there are gorgeous mountain views also. Would go back to this resort, but stay well away from Fereniki... We met some lovely people who were also staying at the Fereniki, and were ok with their rooms, so i think there are some better ones, but you have to be very lucky.. The place made me feel sick to be honest... we ended up having a lovely holiday though, due to changing accommodation...
