“A Welcome Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

We usually choose a much smaller and more intimate hotel for an end of season break but the deal we were offered was too good to miss. Our room was beach side of the main Chania to Rethmynon and traffic noise was audible although it did not give us a problem at this time of year. I expect it could give some people aggravation during busy times if they sleep with the balcony doors open instead of using the air conditioning. The room was large, kept well serviced and the sea view was pleasant although it could have been magnificent had it not been spoiled by some 250-300 beach parasols taking up centre stage.

The hotel had three self service buffet restaurants and both of us who are not converts to buffets were extremely satisfied with the variety and quality of the food. One of the main restaurants also had a limited a la carte menu but we were more than satisfied with the buffets. The hotel mini mart was reasonably priced which was a surprise as too often they have a captive audience and take advantage of this.

The village had not been spoiled over time as we were lucky to have stayed in Georgiopolis 1979 but obviously the beach has been built up. Taking it all into consideration a good value holiday in a nice hotel

We spent a week at this resort mid October and were very impressed with the location, facilities and staff. We don't normally do "Resort" holidays and so weren't quite sure what to expect. Firstly it is easy to find if you're making your own way there from the airport. Everything was on hand to cater for your every need and it appears that no expense has been spared on the things to enhance your enjoyment. This is no concrete jungle of a place either, with apartments dotted around very well tended gardens. I didn't feel the need to lock everything away either as security seems good and the staff very accommodating. We hired a car for the week and went off to explore in the mornings ahead of hitting the beach or pool side in the afternoon. It's as much or as little as you want it to be. Would I go back? Yes without doubt!

Room Tip: We had a pool side room which I thought might be noisy but in fact wasn't at all and had a good...

just back from Pilot Beach and Loved it, totally amazed at the poor comments from others I can only say they must have been overtired.... firstly despite the resort being in two halves you wouldn't have been aware of it as you are not trying to cross the roads, there is an excellent underpass and to get from one part of the resort to the other is simply a matter of minutes, the WIFI was free daily just a matter of renewing the website daily, perhaps the person concerned was not listening properly and if they had taken the trouble to ask I am sure one of the reception staff would have been able to repeat the instructions for them. we found the staff really pleasant and did not notice any preferential treatment of any one group of people over others, the other comment I found really distasteful was the allegation that the manager had a habit of groping the waitresses, I find this a very unpleasant accusation to make on the internet and if the manager wanted to take this further I would be happy to make a statement that I did not see any of this alleged behaviour and we were down there every day. I did not find the fact we had to pay for the safe anything out of the ordinary and have always paid for safe facilities, and it was reasonable at 70 cents certainly not the supposed 2 euro daily. The room was very nice and the beds one of the most comfortable we have had, we usually go time share so were very pleased that the standards were as high if not higher than some other resorts we have been too. The location was very good too, not far away from some lovely areas to visit and would definately recommend a trip to the old town at Rethymnon we had a lovely afternoon there, also the lake and a trip into georgiopolis. The room was always spotless and our maid was the sweetest lady, very kind and polite.
If I had a gripe it would be that having arrived at 2.30 in the morning I would have appreciated a cup of coffee before bed, and although we were suprised at the extent of the food buffet available on arrival the finishing touch would have been a complimentary coffee/tea sachets in room would have been lovely. On leaving we were given a litre of home produced extra virgin olive oil, a very nice touch. I will definately be looking out for Pilot Beach again as I want to bring my granddaughters here they would adore the childrens facilities and the kids club. All in all a fab time and would have absolutely no hesitation in going back.

Room Tip: we stayed in 3113 had lovelyh view over the pool, very near all facilities and igt was very quiet

I have recently returned from a week Full Board at this magnificent resort. The hotel staff are amazing, they work tirelessly and are always smiling. I cannot fault the service given and the choice of food in all 3 restaurants was superb. The room I had was spotless and the maid would change the towels every day; the bed had a proper duvet as opposed to the usual sheet/blanket combination.
On arrival at 1.00 am I was treated with supreme courtesy and was shown to the dining room and was offered an evening meal - by which time it was nearer 1.25am! The staff were courteous and helpful at all times and I was encouraged to relax and enjoy myself. The hotel complex is huge, but although it was very busy it never felt overcrowded. There are plenty of pools for both adults and children to enjoy and the beach was fabulous to walk along. Definitely the best holiday I've had and I wouldn't hesitate to return there again.

We have just returned from The Pilot Beach and can honestly not find anything negative to say about it! There is plenty of room for everyone and you can choose a quiet or busy pool depending on what you prefer. We didn't have children with us but it was obviously great for families as well as couples. There is also plenty to do and the staff and locals were friendly and helpful.
Plenty of good tavernas both on the beach and in Georgiopolis. Nostos was our favourite as served good quality traditional Greek food with Calamari to die for!

Room Tip: we had room 3305 which was near the small quiet pool

If you're looking for rest & relaxation in beautiful surroundings then don't hesitate to book into Pilot Beach.. We requested a beach side apartment which we happily got, it had a lovely view of the sea and was also very near to a good sized swimming pool, bar & restaraunt.. The tunnel was not an issue & the apartments on the inland side of the Resort also looked great.. We stayed on a full board plus basis & ate at all the restaurants during our week stay, all had tasty & a vast range of food on offer.. The resort is like a small village with a very good range of facilities and entertainment for children, however the evening adult entertainment was a little poor.. All the staff we met welcomed us with kalemera/kalespera, they were efficient, helpful & friendly without being obtrusive unless you wanted to chat.. If you can get a flight to Chania rather than Heraklion it is a much shorter transfer, however we did see a lot of Crete by flying to the latter!! Wonderful holiday & would not hesitate to return with the children/grandchildren, or on our own again, it was fab...

We have just come back from a one week vacation at pilot beach resort. We had a most wonderful stay and would gladly return. Everything in this hotel has a touch of high quality to it and it seems that every little detail is thought of and well taken care of. the place itself is full of beauty and well maintained. we had a beach view room and the view of the sea from our balcony each morning was great. the food was excellent and we mostly enjoyed the Beach Restaurant for its wonderful view and staff and excellent service. All through the Hotel the service is indeed first class starting with the reception staff and ending with the lady who cleaned our room... All very professional kind and friendly ,always willing and wanting to help with anything! We had a lovely time and would like to say special thanks to Ilias Stella & Costas at the Reception And to Gabriela Stratos& Cristi at the Beach Restaurant for making our stay so enjoyable! If you're thinking of going there ....don't think twice!

Room Tip: A room with a sea view
