Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Pilot Beach bought via Travelzoo. Fantastic value for money holiday with flights, full board including drinks with meals, upgrade to beach side bungalow. The hotel looks enormous on Google Earth but is very well designed and compact. Although it is either side of the National Highway, the underpass is well-lit, wide and easy to access. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the main public areas of the hotel are vast; the toilets are immaculate and each cubicle could hold three toilets, fresh flowers are on display every day in the toilets.
There are three restaurants to chose from, two buffet style as is the breakfast. The best meal of the day for me was breakfast with an enormous range of foodstuffs, hot, cold, fresh pancakes made as you wait for them and good quality coffee appearing as soon as you sit down. Evening meals had choices of pasta dishes, a couple of different meat dishes, fish, vegetarian, traditional Greek etc. The desserts were lovely and changed daily although the sticky orange cake was there every day and was to die for. I can't tell you how many times I went back. There is a mini cinema, health spa, gym, exclusive children's shop and indoor swimming pool. Outside there are tennis courts, football area and beach volleyball area.
The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive but still able to disappear when you wanted to be on your own.
Our room was spotless with fresh towels as and when required and toiletries replenished daily. Our bedding was changed in the middle of our stay and requests for items such as another pillow or towel were met within half an hour.
Altogether one of the best holidays I have every had (and I've had a few) mainly down to the quality and ambience of this hotel.
Some suggestions; the house wine is pretty ropey. Had house wine at another establishment which was eminently drinkable so it can be done.
The steamed vegetables were never hot. Pehaps this is an English requirement but I would have liked hot vegetables.
Be warned, the childrens club was held at 8.00 pm outside one of the restaurants, it was very noisy.
Best points: all children seemed beautifully behaved, none running around screaming (except, see above).
We didn't arrive until about midnight but a cold meal was waiting for us in the restaurant.
Great relaxed atmosphere; whoever runs this hotel needs congratulating because this isn't easy to achieve in a large hotel.
I shall be looking for bargains again next year at this hotel. Many thanks to all concerned.
We were happy with our beach side room but there are some rooms clustered around one of the smaller...
